Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks to everyone for the kind words, but I want to extend an extra special thanks to Dave Sevigny. Dave shot the match, then stuck around for a few hours helping us breakdown stages 1-7. Dave piloted a screwgun and went to town. Thank you for shooting and helping! Ed
  2. Sorry to hear shooters felt that. Targets were moved to prevent shooting through a "hole" that appeared in the berm. If they choose not to attend, it's their loss!
  3. Thanks for the kind words, everyone. The artwork we have this year is truly outstanding! Full-sized elephants and werewolves, oh my!
  4. Cheap plug ahead! Put your RO/CRO skills to good use. Come to Vermont and work the AWARE match in August. Free lodging, free food, lots of fun. Ed (CRO )
  5. I was the MD for the 2003 AWARE. As such, Kim informed me that: "You are to award slots to the top three overall in each qualifying division. A division must have 20 or more competitors to qualify. For instance, if you had at least 20 competitors in your Limited division for your match, you would contact the top three limited finishers and ask them if they are interested in their slot. If they are, forward their name on to me and I will mail their slot. If they are not interested, skip them and go on to the next place, etc etc. Do this for each of the divisions your match recognized that had at least 20 competitors. I will be mailing these out next week, so if you could get the names to me as soon as possible, that would be a great help." This being my first major match as MD, I was unaware of the slot procedure. As you might imagine, this is no small task, especially when people decline a slot, and I must go "down the list" to find a taker. I received this last Friday, and the slots are going out this week ?!? Ed
  6. Kim told me to offer a slot to the top 3 finishers in any division that had 20 or more shooters. If one of those three declined, ask person #4, etc.
  7. We kept the "Invitational" part as it was tradition. Consider this an invitation to join us in Vermont in August! The match in 2004 will be based on famous Rock and Roll songs. http://www.gmps.ws Ed
  8. Thanks to Allan Zitta. He won a Kahr Arms stainless 9mm, which he donated to a worker raffle, thanking the staff for a well-run, friendly match. Thank you, Allan! RO Randy Lopes won the Kahr. Ed
  9. Thanks for the kind words. Regarding the lower numbers, there were many workers (myself included) who felt committed to running the match, and therefore did not shoot. I'm sure being right behind the Nationals didn't help, either. Another reason for the lower turnout was the lack of Sunday am squads. The club we rent the range from (Lamoille Valley Fish & Game) wanted their members to be able to shoot a large match, without having to join USPSA. This is the primary reason we converted the stages to meet IDPA guidelines. We ran approximately 80 shooters through on Sunday! I'm sure the match will grow as word spreads that it is worth the trip!
