  1. How about 170 mag for IPSC rule, can we set it up to 171mm or only 170mm is the limit. mai
  2. I don't really understand what you guys talking about. Can I lay the targets flat on the ground and shoot from higher ground level. I used this set up on the match we just finished. mai
  3. All questions have been clear, thank you to all answer Peter, please skip the cheater-thing, I only grumble around, may be getting old, or probably too tried from a long week of setting up the stage. Well, all of it is I still having a lot of fun and I hope that most of the shooter feels the same. If I have a chance I will say thank you to the Mr. RO, I never know that we are not supposed to move after LAMR. Garfield, my case is, Mr. RO is Thailander and I am definitely Thai native speaking. Mai
  4. Thank you OK! The series of even are like these, 1. RO said LAMR 2. I do the run (rule 8.3.1.1) 3. RO stop me and said that, he didn’t command the LAMR yet 4. We have argument about I pull the gun without his command. (I believe that he so tried because it was a long day and after noon temp also quite high. So he for got that he already command the LAMR.) 5. He allows me to shoot but he wasn’t happy. (Because, I might try to bluff to him) 5. After I finished the stage, he told me that actually I did something wrong, I must not run like that, it’s illegal to move after LAMR. OK! The not clear question is between the 3 to 5 sequences. I wonder that: Even 1. If he said the LARM but he really forgot and insisted that he didn’t say the word, what will happened to me? Even 2. At that moment, If he say something but not the LARM and I think that he already give the command, I pull the gun, what will happened to me? I hope, I clear my bad English. Mai
  5. Papa Vince and all connoisseur, question questions We finished our match last Sunday. I had tons of new experiences, almost DQ, reshoot with better score (normally I get lower score), heavy jam in these stage, very fluid in the next stage, really nice RO, extremely furious RO, condemnation about my stage design, compliment from others for the same stage, some call me cheater other call me shooter and many more. It is really memorable to me because of its all happened in just one day, up real high and down real low. My question is “ If RO said load and make ready, Before attempt to loaded the gun, I pull my gun out of holster and run 2-3 steps close to shooting box and aim to berm”. First question: Did I do something wrong? Mr. Ro said that I shouldn’t run like that. If I was wrong, what is the consequence I have to face? This action is normally allowed or not? (The stage-procedure is gun loaded, holstered, two-hand touch table) Second Question: Mr. RO forgot that he already said “load and make ready” and he wants to action something (I not sure that he wants to worn me or DQ me, probably DQ). I have to save my ass so I argued with him for couple minutes. Well, finally he allow me to shoot the stage with hesitation, but I wonder that if he insisted that he didn’t say any command yet. What will happened? I get the DQ? Or any action can be done? For the reshoot problem. If insufficient data had been recorded on the score sheet. The shooter must be only required to reshoot or the organizer may ask the RO of that stage or alibi to correct the problems. My openion, by the rule 9.7.5, the only action can be conducted is reshoot, no matter what has happened. What does it mean by the rule 9.7.6.2? Is it like this? Say 16 rounds stage, the scorrer put 14 A 1M and 10 sec (1 round is missing), the shooter will get 6.000 HF no more or less. And if I understand it all right, do the WinMSS support this kind of input? Any one please helps to clarify with the confusion and probably some kind of mitigation might be good. Mai
  6. From CCI web, they say that Eric Grauffel used only small pistal primers. Probably, to make sure of requiring less force, which increasing reliability. mai
  7. Two years ago, Michale Voigt came to thailand for level III Thailand Open and arranged two days class after the match. I didn't have a chance to attain, my friend been there and very happy with the class. The coming big match in SE Asia is Bali-Games, Nov 2004. The world champ will joy the match but not sure that he gonna set some class. I hope to see someone like Matt, Voigt, Max, Travis etc. come to the game and set up class after handgun match. I think, most of the shooter may extend two to three days before they going home. mai
  8. Vince, the STI & KIMBER guys already have the standard division for them, so no concern for that groups. And yes, I agree that a higher magazine capacity makes nobody a better shooter but don’t you agree that the high-cap mag can give him or her more advantage in competition. I shoot PARA for standard and STI for open and no intention to shoot production. I will attend the Bali-game too, and looking forward to see you there.
  9. Hi, Vince This topic has somewhat related to what I asked you before. I asked you that may I use Glock 17 mag in Glock 19 gun. I know that the meaning by the rule-writer is NO MODIFICATION, but it seems like the rule lead shooter to use some specific model and brand. In case, someone own Glock 19, he has only 15 rounds, so if he want to have more chance, he should buy another gun let's say Glock 17 or may better be PARA LDA(18-19 rounds). I believe this is not what you want. Your reply was the man who hold the gun is matter, not the gun. But by the wording in rule book actually mean "not just the man, the gun also have big matters. My idea is the production division should encourage people to shoot whatever guns they have and use in real life. May be easier to fix number of rounds that shooter be able to load in one mag, for example, 10 or 12 rounds, or they may put as much rounds as they want but have to reload after 10 rounds shooted. Regard Mai
  10. Vince I read appendix D4 in the rule book for 3-4 times and also talk to my lawyer-shooter friend, we have the same conclusion, from the rule 20.1, the shooter may use any mag with any gun if those models are approved. Let say, G17 mag with G19 gun or G19 mag with G17 gun (if you can without alter the gun) or probably Smith mag with Walther gun. Well, that just my openion by the wording of rule 20.1. What do you think? regard mai
  11. Hi! Peter He bought that gun when he do not know anything about IPSC, he trust the onpenion of magazine collumnis interm of light recoil and bla bla bla. He stupid ? May be, like I myself used to be and problably still be. At that time, four years ago, no one gave any suggestion to me except the gun-testing report from gun-magazines. Oh! man, I really read a lot and I trusted them. What was coming up? , I end up buying 3-4 guns that now almost useless to me. I kind of really mad at the magazine for a while. Yes, time pass by I found that every guns (I mean EVERY) they tested were all good guns (they said). I growing older (just 3 years) and I figure out that if they tell the truth ( I mean the whole truth) , no gun shop want to coperate and lent them the gun for testing. No more hard feeling to the magazines and also no more reading them. So what? I fall in love with the IPSC for 3 years and spent a lot more money anyway. Just a cheap fairytale, ha! Hope to see you in Chiangmai Contest this october Best regards Mai P.S. Vince, I like your last sentence "The difference is the guy holding the gun."
  12. I just visited your site, anorther great stuff you made. I really enjoy the moving and swing. I quite lucky for having a private office-room, so I plan to practice at my office from now on. Big Thanks Mai
  13. So, the suggection to my friend should be "buy a new G17", right? Law & Rule are something that we always want to bent, distort or cheat. Thanks to all you guys Mai
  14. Vince, My friend has Glock 19C, he want to replace the port-barrel to the normal no-port one. May he use his gun for Production Devision or not ? Is it possible and legal, by Production regulation, for anyone who owned Glock 19 to use glock 17's mag. thanks mai
  15. I found out that I am not a good teller at all. Yes I agree that the IPSC is a fare game, everyone has own advantage in his way. Well, I should say almost everyone for the sake of truth. The shooting contest that I mention above is a stand still game, and all shooters have to stand on their feet. No other part of the body is allowed to touch anything. All of officer stays behind the shooter (not infront of the shooter for whatever reason) and probably one officer per 10 shooters at the same time. So, if the shooter lean on something, it easy to recognize, but if somebody lay his big belly against the desk, nobody easily see that. Whenever I saw this action, I always smiling to myself. Don’t you think it is pretty lovely posture? Anyway Vince, which corner you are, big lovely belly or skinny bone walker. I think you are in the opposite corner from me. Mai
  16. In Thailand, we have a guns game that isn’t require much of experience to joy the game (Sure, to win is require much of practice time and money). We call it “ Villager-Gun Games”. All shooter just go to range with any kind of handgun, buy lot of ticket, stand still behind the desk and shoot at the bull-eye target, 10 rounds per target, and you may shoot as many target as you want(depend on your money). Late afternoon, the scorer will choose 3 or 5 highest score of each competitor and make a comparison. The winner get a trophy, and tons of happiness (including his thinner and lighter pocket). It ‘s seemed like one rule of the IPSC is borrowed and used here. The rule is 10.2.8.3 using the other hand on a barricade or another prop to increase stability while firing shots. You know, what is the big advantage of a big guy to a small guy (like me, 58 Kg, 169 centimeters). The big guy may cheat and increase his stability by put his big belly on the desk without any noticeable from match officers. Mai
  17. Vince, can you add me to the "Well done chaps"? Why? Because I have the same opinion as the two masters. Mai
  18. Yes Vince, I agree with you for the rule 6.2.5 , also the following rules and commences you gave. But, what I mean by the rule 6.2.3 is before the match begins, the shooter should declare division, and the match officer should check all equipment. If one or more of the equipment isn’t fit to that division, the shooter may have opportunity to fix his equipment before making an attempt the COF. Let say, spook’s friend may used rock or concrete floor as a grinding pad to reduce the size of his mag well, and the gun will perfectly fit to standard division. But, if none of the officer do the prior equipment checking, I think that it is not quite fare to the shooter. NPSA 86-259: I posted wrong word, I mean to post “ can he insist to be standard shooter? “. Anyway he couldn’t. Mai
  19. Hi Vince From rule 6.2.3 , Jan 2004 edition. It is clearly say that the shooter must be checked his equipment and notified his division by match officer. If Spook’s friend didn't get this process, can he insist to be production shooter? Mai
  20. I mean, after I already jerk my arms and shoulders, but don't touch the gun yet. mai
  21. Vince It happened to me once. The voice of the protimer was very low, so I wasn't quite sure of the start signal. I thought I heard something, I jerked a bit and didn't know what to do, stand still for a couple minuet, then turn to RO and he showed a go go signal to me. Yes, I turned back and started shooting. Finally, the COF was finished with 3 misses included 1 penalty plus 10 more second. In this case, if I didn't start the silly shooting, may I asked for one more AYR and restart signal. Mai
  22. Really glad to read this toppic. I learned how to shoot with both eyes form the first moment that I know IPSC (3 years ago). And like Spook said, I had been told that "You must shoot with both eyes open". Well I tried really hard, so I can shoot with both eyes, but the second vision always wait for me. I have no problem at all with open gun, but some annoying with ltd. gun. The early of this year, I designed to try shotting ltd. gun with only right eye, the result was CONFUSING, some time one eye the other both eyes or may be 1.5 eyes. I think, because I used to shoot with both eyes for long time. Any way, I did some experiment, I line up 10 of coke cans about 1 inch apart, each one show different view ( I turn the cans in different angles). I just selected one can, let say the 4th one, and tried to aiming at it with one eye alternate with both eyes. As you can guest, the fastest aimimg was one eye and it was much faster for this targets arrangement. But at that time, I was still not sure how to do with my shooting eyes. After read this toppic, for sure, I will repractice how to shoot the Ltd. with only one eye open. mai
  23. I pull this topic up front one more time. Just wait for some suggestion, probably Detlef can help me, well other guy too. mai
  24. I have been an editer in some part of Thai-Version. For rule 1.1.6, I confuse that what is the meaning of shooting chanllenge and non-shooting challenge, what I traslate are like these, shooting chanllenge mean shoot at long or short range or may be shoot from a diffecult position (directly related to gun shooting), and non-shooting challenge means running to block or activities that's not direct to using gun. Am I got it alright? I would like to know the applicable of box for Standard Division, if shooter not be able to fit his gun in the box, so he have to fully press rear sight (bomar), now, the gun can be fit in but very tight. This action is allow to do or not? mai
