  1. I can't imagine that is normal. I have been shooting 139 PF with a 11.5 # spring and I have no wear or marks on my guide rod (about 3000+ rds so far).
  2. Very good match! This was great practice for the ProAm if that is on your schedule this year. Those tiny 6in bonus plates were fun. Overall I shot pretty well. I started on the tie breaker and bombed it. Terrible. Other than that I had one bad stage, one great stage and 3 good stages. My bad stage I scored 17 plates, I had one stage with 21 plates, one with 22 plates, I think I had another with 22 plates and, on my best stage, I had 27 plates. That was the stage with the 4 barrels (mags on each barrel). Thankfully, for the most part, the rain held off. We started at 9:00 and were gone by 11:20.

I think it really goes back to what Nik said earlier. If I am designing a stage with something like carrying or moving something it needs to be for a purpose. Open a port or activate targets or something. Otherwise, if it only counts as one procedural, the math will almost force everyone not to comply.
  4. I ordered the CGW 5 pack. I had these ordered. Unfortunately, they are on a 6+ week back order. Still no ETA on my order.
  5. For those asking why I shoot 139 PF, I'm not sure why that matters. For one that is what I shot previously in my Glock so I am used to it. Two, after working up some loads and testing them in my CZ I found that PF worked best for me in that if gave me reliable accuracy. The point of my thread was how the recoil springs effect the recoil of my gun. I have ordered some springs and will do some testing when they arrive. For now I have placed the factory 14lb spring back in my CZ and will test it our this week at the range. My Wolff springs are on back order so if the 14lb spring doesn't do the trick I will go back to the 11.5 until I can test the other springs.
  6. Thanks for the reply. Recoil, as I am defining it with my gun, is definitely more of a muzzle climb instead of a thump in the hands. Like you I kind of fall in the middle in regards to grip strength. I am certainly no vice crusher but I don't have fish hands either. Any negative effects to have too light of a recoil spring? Gun functions fine and I don't notice any abnormal wear. I think I will try a couple more springs to see how it feels.
  7. Can someone tell me what effect the various recoil springs have on the cycling of a CZ 75? For example, if I currently have an 11.5# spring and were to go up in weight would that lessen or increase perceived felt recoil? What if I went down in weight? Also, does changing recoil spring weight effect anything else that needs be considered? My reasoning for asking is that, since the day I first shot my gun, the recoil is a lot more harsh than I was expecting for an all steel framed gun. I came from a G17 and was expecting a very soft shooting gun in comparison but got the exact opposite. For the record I am shooting 147 gr Bayou Bullets making 139 PF which is the same thing I shot out of my G17. So, is it a matter of just trying different springs to find one that works best for you (assuming the gun functions with no problems)? Thanks,
  8. An email was sent recently to Phil asking about apps that he has received and if he has begun the squadding process. This was his reply: "Honestly, not yet. I'm still trying to dig out from under a pile of work. I'm hoping to get the registrations started tomorrow. I'll send the confirmations as soon as they're all entered. Sorry for the delay. Phil" That email was from earlier this week so it looks like things should start happening soon.
  9. Where are you seeing them squaded. I just looked and don't see them. I'm already on squad 6 but am just curious. Is there a list of who has registered but not squaded?
  10. This is BY FAR my biggest complaint about my bag. I have the medium bag as well and it is collapsing in the very same spot also. Makes zipping/unzipping the bag a pain the butt. Anyone have any luck contacting DDA about it?
  11. Weird stuff? I was doing a safety check after detail stripping my gun for the first time. I was not expecting the safety to engage with the hammer down. Sue me... Stuart - yes, the safety is still holding the sear and hammer in place. Thanks for the reponse.
  12. Thank you Stuart. I was hoping you would chime in. Question, I have pulled the trigger with the safety engaged (down hammer) twice. That's how I found out about this. What are the odds that I have damaged something? How to I check for any damage? Thanks again.
  13. Yes, I do have a comp hammer installed by CZC.
  14. Couple of questions regarding manual safety on a CZ 75. I just recently learned to detail strip my gun and want to make sure I don't have an issue: 1) if the hammer is down should I be able to engage the safety? Currently, when my hammer is down, I can engage the safety. BUT, I can pull the trigger and the hammer contacts the firing pin enough to eject a pencil out of the barrel. 2) what if the hammer is in the half-cock position? Currently, when my hammer is at half-cock, I can engage my safety BUT I can still fire the gun (same as above re ejecting pencil out of the barrel). At fully cocked position my safety can be engaged and works as intended (ie, cannot pull the trigger). So, no problem there. Thanks,
  15. Prob easier just to paste the contents here: "Hello everyone, I know there had been rumors about me selling the rights to PASC...which were true. However, the sale did not happen, and I'm putting together another Pro-Am for 2014! The match application will be available very soon. I MAY use www.matchsignup.org for registration. I'm not sure yet. Either way, you'll be the first to know. I just wanted to touch base with everyone and let you know that the match is definitely a go for July 18-20 at the Universal Shooting Academy in Frostproof, FL. TWO BIG CHANGES for 2014. (1) will be the shooting schedule. Since there's always rain the afternoons, Open will be shot in the AM and Limited in the PM. (2) will be a slight price increase. Food prices have gone up, so expect to pay an extra $10-15. Not a huge deal...especially with the prize table I get every year! Shannon has procured a ton of poppers, so expect bigger than ever stages...with bigger targets! I'll be in touch! Sincerely, Phil Strader"
  16. Like was already said I shoot 147 Bayou's with no problem out of my stock barrel. You will most likely shoot high though...I was about 6 inches high at 20 yrds.
  17. Phil sent out an email this morning. Scott, have you seen the email yet? If not I can forward to you.
  18. I have a CGW trigger pin and mine did not come with a slave pin. And yes, without a slave pin it is a giant pain in the butt. I used the spray can nozzle trick that people on this forum talk about. Makes it a little easier. Based on my experience from today, I do not think every 5000 rds is overkill. But, it was a factory piece and not CZC's. See if that makes a difference.
  19. Hmmm, ok, so I guess the next question is what does that mean? Are CZC's specs more stringent or something? The one that broke is factory. The replacement is from CZC.
  20. Thank you for the advice. 1). It was mentioned to me today by another shooter that I need a back up gun. I am currently perusing boards seeing what I can find. 2) I do already have the CGW trigger pin (floating, I think it is called?) so I am good there. I just ordered 3 of the CGW TRS'. At 3 bucks a pop you can't have too many, right? 3) good point. My gun is a shadow line 75 and it came with the star bit screws. I never thought to change them. Lesson learned the hard way.
  21. My TRS broke today about halfway through the 3rd stage ( 6 stage match). I had a spare one in my bag but was still unable to replace due to the fact that mt grip screws are star bit and, of course, I don't have a star bit in my bag. I tried doing with out taking the trigger assembly out but couldn't do it to save my life. Anyway, I am now ordering a few more replacements and noticed that there are two options for the TRS: 1) CZ 75/85/SP01 Trigger Return Spring (TRS) NEW and 2) CZ 75/85/SP01 Trigger Return Spring FACTORY. What is the difference in these two springs? Also, I only have about 5000 (maybe) rounds through my 75. Is this normal for a TRS to break already? Seems awfully premature to me. Kind of nerve racking if I have to start worrying about a TRS breaking that often.
  22. My extended FP measures exactly 2.5 in. This is an interesting thread. I have a 13# hammer spring, a reduced FP spring and I can only set off Federal SPP. I tried CCI and Winchester and had about a 1 of 3 or 1 of 4 failure to fire rate. Stuart did the work on mine so I'm not sure what else was done to add that causes the light strikes. I really, really like both the double and single pulls on my 75 so I don't won't to really mess with it. However, it would be nice to make an easy swap so that I could use CCI or Winchester to at least practice with.
  23. Late to the game but here is a pic of mine:
  24. No need to stay an hour out. The one I mentioned above is still available (just checked) for less than $100 a night. Only 30 minutes away. Hampton Atlanta-Stockbridge. Thank you. I just booked a room.
