  1. I sent an email asking about what happened to these and got a very prompt response saying the same thing. What I can't figure is why they aren't even listed on the web site. BTW, they have a 3x magnifier for about $100. I question the optical quality at that price. Anyone have any first hand knowledge? I have shot their 5x Primary Arms magnifier for about 6 months with my Aimpoint and as far as I can tell the optical quality is very good. The dot is big and at 100 plus yards covers a 10-12" flasher, but I have no problems hitting it and I have shot it out to 200 yards with good results. I am not sure how it compares to Eotech and Aimpoint magnifiers. I think they pulled the flip mount off the website because they have not been able to get a delivery date on the next batch from whatever factory in China makes them. He told me they don't want to take back orders and mislead people. I talked to them 3 or 4 months ago at the big gun show here in Houston and they seemed very honest about their products. I bought a cantilever mount from them for my Aimpoint in front of the magnifier and it is very good quality and never loosened up or caused the Aimpoint to lose it's zero. I would not hesitate to buy from them. Graham, just so you know, some of the primary arms magnifiers will not work with the Larue flip mount. the larue flip mount's rings do not open up in half. so you could not for instance use the primary arms 5x magnifier.
  2. heh heh...i kind of like taticool knobs. i see the scope uses 1 inch rings with a 20mm objective lens. is there any big advantages/disadvantages in comparison to another 1-4x scope that uses 30mm rings with a slightly bigger objective lens?
  3. wow. that is many times over what i am looking to spend for my next optic...
  4. update: I zeroed the red dot at 200 this past weekend. I was satisfied with my grouping...but i must say i had a hard time seeing the target and the red dot clearly...due to my astigmatism (which my contacts do not correct 100%). from what i been reading...red dot + magnifier is not the way to go if your eyes aren't great. just so happens my match director announced 200 yard targets at this weekend's multi-gun match. i'll report back afterwards! Graham, i picked mine up from ebay for ~ $70. there is some dude selling the raw optic which includes the tank finding reticle for $21 shipped on ebay. but, you can't tell what eyepiece you are going to get: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260630145917 there are others advertising their hendsolts on ebay as Larue Poor boy, and they go for $40 on up. But i have a feeling most of these auctions are hendsolts that did not pass through Larue's hands; Larue purged the optic with nitrogen after they were done removing the tank reticle. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190429039303 I overpaid for mine though; but i did so because the individual stated it was converted by larue. i gave him more credit than the others because the 30mm spacer looked like the one that larue used in thier kit. and he didn't have multiple feedbacks like he was cranking out the magnifier for profit. but yeah, i love the larue flip mount...but the price is killer.

the only optic i have looked at on that specification list is the trijicon accupoint. i was thoroughly impressed by it. larue has a package that makes this option good bang for the buck.

    Optics

Forgot to add that i am using an aimpoint 2 moa optic for now; because that's just what i had prior to trying out 3 gun. i recenlty added a hensoldt magnifier on a larue flip mount to help me with longer distances. i don't know where i will end up later, but i am going to run with this setup for a while.

    Optics

uno, I just started, but it seems that standard is a varible power scope that start off with 1x. There is a list in the multi-gun/rifle technical area that is pinned: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=97821
  8. i just started with the WHIPA 3 gun. 2nd saturday in the month @ impact zone. Bob wolff runs the matches, and he posts information regarding the matches the monday before on AR15.com in the hometown/texas section: http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=8&f=8
  9. +2 off topic, but is the reduced recoil remington slug noticable compared to the regular remington slug? I am using a pump right now...and it has a bit of a bit to it...heh
  10. thanks all for the input. i am glad i went with the choates, they seem great upon intial impression. there is some play between the walls and the top/bottom of the shells i am using and i can see how velcro would help tighten the gap. but i was jumping up and down and didn't have any issues. i think short of a backflip, i should be ok...heh. I also picked up one of those $5 web work belts from home depot and replaced the buckle from some that wallmart sells for 68 cents. i did that because the walmart buckles have a more positive locking feel to them. but, i will be testing out the rig i have below in the next 3 gun match. the choates have a metal belt plate screwed in with some coarse screws. it would be super easy to attach some tek loks to them in the same fashion.
  11. yes, i am a big fan of the aimpoint myself. was able to spend a little bit of time with it this weekend. love the flip mount...magnification of the hensoldt definately helped a bit when i was shooting at a 100 yard target. i really wanted to zero it at 200 yards, but it was blazing hot so i didn't make it out that far. match director throws in some steel at 175 yards, and that was the primary purpose of adding the magnifier. i think it will serve the purpose just fine.
  12. GorillaTactical, hello; thanks for bringing me attention to you informative videos! i'm sure you have helped many with thier setups. I like what i am seeing/reading regarding the millet 1-4x optic. good bang for the buck; it may very well be my next major 3-gun purchase. i am not looking forward to paying $200 for the larue mount; but it is looks to be the quality option for swapping out the millet and my aimpoint quickly with acceptable repeatability.
  13. jtischauser, no problem bud! i totally understand that the cost of my aimpoint setup ($800) could have been used for a kick ass scope (+rings) with far better optical clarity and variable zoom. right now i am just in the beginning stage of having fun with 3-gun, using some equipment that I wanted in my gun safe cache anyway. when i gain more experience an am looking for that extra competative edge; i'll be sure to look for some upgrades. for example i only have one shotgun that i recently, purchased and it's a 870P (pump). i knew semi-autos rule in 3-gun, but i always wanted an 870P for home defense.
  14. i just recently became introduced to this product (after my hensoldt purchase...dang). so far it sounds promising from initial feedback people have been reporting. i'll keep an eye out for a used one down the line. is it me or does it look more bulkly than the hensoldt?
  15. OPENB, I hear you; i shot my first multigun with slings when they were not mandetory. on the shotgun stage i think i accidentally grabbed it while reloading, and it ended up blocking my way to the loading port. my slings are comming off unless the match director has specific scenarios; and i think he does run them at times. i should get the choates from midway this week, which will give me a couple weeks to practice prior to the next 3 gun meet.
  16. jtischauser, yes, 3 gun is good fun. gave up motorcycling recently, and don't miss it at all..heh. i totally agree, if i didn't already have the aimpoint already i would have gone for one of those trijicon accupoints. until a couple weeks ago, i didn't know what an accupoint was...but having looked through one, i was thoroughly impressed. 2011BLDR, as i was test fitting the setup last night, i thought about axing the buis. I think that's what i am going to do before sighting in. thanks for the heads up about the focus ring on the po boy! i didn't know what the ring was, so i mounted it foward of the rings for good measure.
  17. Was wondering if any of you multi-gun shooters are utilizing a magnifier behind an Aimpoint? which magnifier are you using and if you had any feedback; i would appreciate it! i shot my first three gun match a couple weeks ago with just the aimpoint; the stages didn't stretch out more than 50 yards. but even at 50 i thought some magnification would help a bit for those targets behind cover. because i already have a aimpoint compm3 2moa, i decided to go with the Larue "po boy" build. i have a couple weekends before the next 3 gun match to try it out at the range. my initial impressions are positive, but i also immediately noticed the extra weight and the short eye relief of the hensoldt magnifier. i have a telescoping stock on my AR, so the eye relief shouldn't be an issue i suppose. looking forward to trying it out at the next 3 gun match. especially if there are 100 yard+ stages...heh.
  18. after much deliberation i ended up ordering a couple 6 rounder choates. i am also brand spanking new at this, and just want to be able to load weak hand at an entry level price. something else that came to mind is that i want to have the shell strippers positioned near the front of my body, and if they were made out of metal, they would mark up my rifle/shotgun because i like to run a 2 point sling.
  19. I'm not an instructor but from what i gathered out of box reliablity is hit or miss. Several years ago I gave up on a springfield operator after shooting 1K rounds plus, changing out the magazine, and playing with the extractor. i was having trouble with the last round in the magazine hanging up at times. looking back if i spend some more time with the extractor; i would have been able to nail it down. but i am happy to report more recently i bought a kimber tactical entry II, and after 600 rounds, wilson ETM magazines, and tuning the extactor...it has run smoothly over the last 200+ rounds.
  20. bunsen27, thanks for letting us know; I was also looking for an over the belt type of belt. $5 is alot less than i was planning on spending..heh. i was planning on going with the choate 6 rounders; on their website it says they will accommodate up to 1 3/4 belt...i wonder if the home depot belt will scrunch up a tad to work with it? i guess i will wait until i get the choates in this week and then bring em along with me to look for belts.
  21. oh wow, i wish i didn't see otto's caddie. they look super nice; and i am a fan of the tek loc system. I'm trying to operate on the cheap though...just had my 1st daughter; which should explain the $$ situation...heh. thanks for the info!
  22. hello; shot my first 3 gun match a couple weeks ago, and loved it. looking for a couple 6 round speed strippers now, but I'm on a budget. debating between choate and california comp works, and would appreciate some advice! from what i have read so far, CCW better adapts to different manufacturers of 2 3/4 shells; as some slugs are a bit tight in the choate stripper? But i was considering the choate because i'm a skinnier dude...and thought the slimmer choate would better suit since i don't plan on shooting 3 inch shells? Thanks!
