  1. Did you bench-shoot? What about asking another person to shoot your Shadow? It always helps to confirm the issue with another shooter. As of now, there are just too many possibilities. First, eliminate as many simple ones as possible.

    Hi.

I have about 7-8k rounds through my Shadow, and it shoots really low now. Before it shot POA->POI at 25metres.

Does anyone have any ideas? I have the SS guiderod, could that do something with the low hits?

At 30metres, aiming at the center of the IPSC A-zone, i hit just in the line between A and C, and often down in the C-zone.

I dont think i am flinching, because it seems too consistent.

  2. Your situation is not really different from those of ours here in the US; in fact, those costs are likely lower than ours. I've been to a few Area matches and several $150+ matches -- don't remember getting free shirts or lunches. Not that I much care about those offerings, anyway.

The one Production Nationals I attended was not impressive at all. At this point, the only thing I appreciate is the volunteers; without them, we won't have much of anything. Hence, for local matches and near-by major matches, I try to help as much as possible.

As a "back-yard" and ex-collegiate athlete in several other sports, I find many things lacking in USPSA. I will refrain from initiating any discussion IPSC/USPSA management.

I will make you all feel better. much better :)

Here in our little convict colony (Australia) a level 2 IPSC match (12 stages shot over 2 days) costs anywhere from $40 to $75USD to enter. There is NO PRIZE TABLE at ANY match, and shirts only at level 3's (and you have to pay extra for it). We generally get trophies or small medals for each division and first 3 places in each grade (but not always) and also each category (lady, senior etc). no further down than that though. Forget the 1 prize for every 3 people idea! That $70 entry fee does not get you lunch or drinks. They cost extra. The only thing it gets you is the 12 stages. We all pick up brass and paste targets. The RO is with each squad and is shooting the match too.

From me (and I live in the biggest city in Australia - Sydney - and live 4kms from the city centre) the closest match is a 40min drive. The next closest is 1hr. After that there are 2 more within 2.5hr drive (each way) and the next one is a 6hr drive each way.

Our nationals this year is a level 3. it's held in a remote area (for most of us a 2hr flight AND a 3hr drive from the closest airport to the range). It's a 3 day match and costs $300 to enter. Yes $300. (1 AUD = 0.92 USD btw).

That $300 does not include a shirt. They are $45 extra. It also does not include the presentation dinner which is $70. So an entry with 1 shirt and the dinner is $415. Call it $400 USD. There is usually some prizes at a match like this for top placings, but they are not stuff like guns. They are things like a pack of 300 projectiles, or a holster, or a belt etc. Sometimes we get a hat.

As far as gas prices go. Regular petrol is $1.60 per LITRE here. there is approx 4 litres in 1 US gallon. That's $6.40 a gallon! Premium 98 Octane gas is around $1.80 a litre about $7 a gallon.

Having said all that, I am happy for every match people put on here. I do wish prizes were a bit more generous but it is what it is. We do not have the massive firearms industry here to support our sport with sponsorship's and donated prizes etc. I'm guessing our matches are also a lot smaller than the average US match. A local level 2 match will have around 70-100 or so competitors across classic/production/standard/open divisions. A state titles match maybe 150-200.

Anyway, just a bit of perspective from a country not blessed with a strong firearms industry to support our great sport.

    DVC :)

  3. Too lazy to set-up a target at 50 yards, so I just backed up and shot this from 40 yards. I used my "match" Shadow instead of my "practice" Shadow. Five shots. One flyer. I was a bit surprised with the grouping in that my practice session wasn't going well.

    Grips

    Simple.

    Appendix D4 (Production Division) #21.4:

    • For semi-automatic Production guns, grip tape, grip sleeves, checkering, stippling or other texture may only be applied in the areas shown in appendix E4. Glue and grit is considered the same as stippling.

    • Replacement grip panels are allowed provided they do not extend below the butt of the gun to form a make-shift magwell.

    • Revolver grips may be replaced with OFM or aftermarket grips of any shape, profile and surface texture.

    Special Notes/Clarifications:

    • See 22.2, below, for specifics with regard to

    modifications on revolver grips.

  4. Is Infinity the only company that manufactures "contoured" grip? Infinity's Signature grip is the only one I'm aware of thus far. Are there others?

    Background:

I shoot a CZ Shadow in Production and really like the contoured, ergonomic grip style. All of the STI/Phoenix Trinity grips I've seen are the more "traditional", blocky grip, which are not my preference.

    Thanks.

  5. Only if ceteris paribus...

It will be interesting to see how these knock off Speedcross 3 shoes hold up over time. Usually knock off products look identical to their real counterparts but usually have build or material quality issues.

Realistically the primary feature of the Speedcross 3 shoes is the tread pattern and rubber compound used on the sole. These knock off shoes may be able to mimic the tread pattern, but they may be using a completely different rubber compound. Some people stating that the rubber knobs feel "Stiffer" than the normal shoes is a tell tale sign of a different rubber compound being used.

I would rather spend $100+ on a pair of "Real" shoes and know the quality and consistency of the product I am buying. Verses buying a knock off for half the price and rolling the dice on it being functionally or a quality equivalent of the real thing.

I think that people make a mountain out of a mole hill when it comes to the cost of shoes. Spending $100+ on high quality shoes is a drop in the bucket from an overall shooting expense perspective. Shoes are your "Tires" and yes, we are racing around the range. Do you think that serious motorsports competitors are trying to use cheap knock off tires when racing? NOPE. They use the real thing because they know the value of using the real thing.

If you want to save money in this sport, shoot less rounds in your training sessions and dry fire the drills instead. If you shoot 1000 less rounds by using a live fire / dry fire blend of training that is at least $100 in savings.

Agree. At best these are grey market shoes. Most likely they are counterfeit. Either way, you're probably supporting a criminal enterprise.
It's either I support the enterprise or Salomon does.... Made in the same place and I paid $20 per pair on my own or $90 if Salomon is the middle man. What's the difference really?

Somewhere, someone in a sweatshop makes these shoes, all that's changed is the purveyor....
  6. I'm guessing your SA is not properly resetting, which has to do with the disconnector. Drop-in parts aren't always 100% "drop-in" due to firearms' inconsistent manufacturing.

Short Answer: Call David at CGW. He will be able to properly diagnose the issue. If my speculation is correct, it should be an easy fix.

  7. I do not own any Glock, but am intrigued by this topic. In short, as long as the below three conditions are met, the trigger should be legal -- right?

    (1) No external, visible modification

    (2) Trigger safety should be preserved and function

    (3) External, visible trigger position, when the gun is in battery, should be same as that of a stock trigger

  8. Threads like this are often vitiated by a series of heated he-said/I-infer undertone. It basically just becomes a pissing contest.

Until USPSA is being managed by people who are competent and have pertinent business, professional background, it will continue to meander on the path of regression. I believe there is a cadre of competent professionals within the ranks of USPSA membership. Are they interested in lending a helping hand? Has anyone from USPSA management asked? Will it just be a series of patch-work? Has USPSA considered initiating a complete, strategic review of its operating goals and objectives? There are a myriad of things to consider.

That said, it starts with the management.

  9. In my experience, CZ's loose fitting is relatively normal, depending on how much. IMO, although CZ firearms appear to be quite good mechanically, their build/finish-quality is sub-par.

When I press down on the top of the slide of my CZ SP-01 Shadow (especially near the front sight), I can hear a very distinct "klack" and feel the slide move down a little. The gun still groups ok I guess (I'm not a good group shooter). Is this normal, anyone else's Shadow have a loose fit? Thanks!

  10. BB...have you looked into the Hajo sight from CZ Custom? It's only adjustable vertically, but I've seen some pretty positive feedback so far.

    http://czcustom.com/czshadowtacrearhajo.aspx

ahhh, of course! I forgot the target has the slide milled to an LPA cut to give more sight options. mine is the bog standard shadow and in IPSC I cannot mill the slide to fit sights. I just have to stick with the crappy ones that keep breaking, or stick with fixed which is what I'm trying at the moment. thanks for that. :)

  11. Only if your Shadow is the "Target" model, which has the LPA-cut. Based on my experience, it's pretty much a drop-in fit. The below-linked page to CZ Custom has a quick overview of the various slide-cuts for sights.

    http://czcustom.com/czsightcuts.aspx

Justaute, thanks for that tip on the caspian adjustable. does the one with the 'LPA cut' fit the CZ shadow dovetail cut? if not, can I work on the sight to make it fit? we shoot under IPSC rules so cannot modify the dovetail cut in the slide to fit the sights, but can legally modify the sights to fit the slide.

    thanks again. :)

  12. That's basically what I did -- except I used a spare hammer pin. My stock Retaining Peg/Pin is about 0.260". I ended up trimming my spare hammer pin to about 0.288".

Its all gravy!!! I just think that going to the source is usually the best course of action when there are questions that need answering.

One method to easily do this on the CZ is to use oversized drill rod in place of the hammer retaining pin.

  13. Yes. Brownells also sells it for a few dollars less.

Damn I've just ordered my target here in Australia and see this. How long are the sights lasting? Wonder if ccaspian arms ship overseas may need to get one as a back up it's my only pistol so spares maybe a go. Which is it the ccaspian arms LPA adjustable code S24LT?

    Thanks
