  1. Thats pretty slick - the worst thing about that is that it will not work for rifles.

Before I purchased a press I called Hornady and asked about buying all the case insertion parts (kind of like Dillon 650 press) they said no they dont sell just the individual parts - you have to buy the case feeder. I would have gone with the LNL if they would have sold me the parts, but I ended up with a blue 650 instead.

  2. Maybe Im being unreasonable - but after hearing about Dillon great customer service, no BS warranty, I was a little disappointed the first time I called dillon for spare parts. I bought a used 650 and needed a few parts, the gentleman was helpful and polite and started making a list of all the parts I needed. I then wanted to buy 2 small springs(powder measure) and a missing 22 cal powder check rod. The total cost on these 3 items = $27.00

what bothered me was the $10.00 for shipping. I'm probably being unreasonable but they were just going to send me parts a no charge - cant they just throw them into the same package? (Lee has done this twice) When I questioned the high price on shipping - he said it was the standard shipping price for this dollar amount. I know they are sending me a bunch of free parts (haha - Like when the government gives you "free money") so I just said OK - but I keep hearing how great dillon customer service was - and frankly I wasn't overly impressed. Nothing really different (except price) from Lee, RCBS and Hornady.

  3. Thanks, I was just cleaning my 650 to start reloading for our July monthly match.

Just a thought but, you might want to include the version of the manual your refering when you mention page numbers. I have an other version & my pages didn't line up. :roflol:

Yeah your right - its the May 2007 - the one off the Dillon web site.

  4. Put a sizing die in the 2nd station with the decap stem removed, and take the adjustment bolt out for primer depth and smooth the lettering off the face.

This will cut down on flipped primers.

I bought one loadmaster, and had another given to me for free. I can run about 800 rounds an hour with em, loading a few trays up with 200 primers each.

Tim thanks for the tip , forwarded to a buddy for future use

I put the sizing die on station 2 also - it didnt help that much. I went to hand priming and then loading rounds on the LM - What pushed me to sell it was the constant issues with the shell indexing and the lack of case feeder for .223 - I would have gotten a 550 but the lack of case feed pushed me to a 650.

  5. The Dillon procedure will get you close. I'd suggest that you try both methods, evaluate them, and report back. I won't bad-mouth the Dillon recommendations on this forum, and I truly don't know which metod will produce better results - or if the difference can be measured. When using either method, you should cycle the press several times to allow the bearing to "seat", then repeat the setup.

You might also consider the Dillon alignment procedure, which uses an alignment boss and an otherwise unpopulated tooling plate to obtain perfect alignment at Station 2.

I sense that many of us are seeking improved performance of the 650 (and other presses) by reducing or eliminating the accumulated tolerances that occur in a mass-produced machine. I'm on board with that, and hope to hear from other contributors on the subject.

Tag for info - thanks
