They did mention bringing it back at the awards dinner. We haven't had it in at least 10 years.

You should have made the trip down to Chambersburg last weekend. They put on a great match. Gary Valentino even made it. Not many shooters left in NY.

Haven't been able to ID any action pistol matches on the east coast.  Where do you find them?

    Thanks

  2. Thanks..I have been using as much aluminum as I can, but using Warne Maxima "steel rings" and an UltraDot MatchDot II and just under 4lbs (unloaded).  The Warne rings which I really like weigh about 4.7 oz, about 3oz heavier than the stock UltraDot rings.  My mover base is about 2oz heavier than yours (right now).  Using Hogue "Big Butt" grips.

My revolver balance point is at about the same as yours..right at the cylinder gap.

The NRA has washed its hand of the Bianchi Cup and is not involved in anyway that I know of. All they are currently doing is keeping track of records and classifications and even that’s debatable as I’ve heard it’s the CMP keeping track of the records. Green Valley has control of the match. Myself and many of the competitors say good riddance to the NRA. Working together we can build back the Bianchi Cup the prestigious event it previously was.

Just hope the match continues...looking forward to making it out there at least one more time.

This was one of the best Bianchi Cups in a long time. Attendance was low because of Covid, we missed all our International friends, who are normally a large part of the match. Still, it was very well done by people who know the ropes. Everyone there had a great time. The prize table was amazing. Many, many thanks to the Green Valley crew, who know what Bianchi is all about, and worked very hard to do it right and make it good for everyone! We are all looking forward to next year's match, in the hopes that all the regulars may once again share in the festivities! Hope everyone has a good year in the meantime. (Thanks for the pics, Blade).

Toolguy...thanks for the update...will be there next year (28 year absence).  My bullets came in the Monday before the match week and I would have needed to leave on Saturday.  Just didn't have the time to put it together.  Since then I picked up a nice selection of primers, W231 and lead bullets....no excuses for next year.  Looking forward to meeting you in person...you sure have a lot of friends...want to show you my sight base we messaged about.

  5. Trying to determine the last day I can show up to compete in the May 26/27 match?  There is a "Multi-Gun" event on Tuesday that I have no desire to shoot, the program reads gun inspections and packet pickup on Monday...if I'm not firing in the Multi-Gun event I would prefer to show up on Tuesday.  Wonder if I can pick up my packet and have my handgun inspection on Tuesday instead of Monday?  One less travel day.

I am signed up and practicing every day. I sure hope we get more than 65 entries...

    Brad

Is that number for Bianchi Cup entries?  Up here the Canadians can't drive into the US via land ports...but can fly in from air ports from what I understand.  Hear stories of Canadians having their cars shipped in...then just flying in to meet the transportation company.  Different situations on the southern border....anybody can come in any way they want.  Not clear about the situation for international flights from overseas which would affect international competitors.

  7. Crazy...just figured out what load works in my revolver yesterday...I'm about 90% sure I'm going.  The weather has been bad so I haven't had a lot of hands on practice.   Last time I shot any match was at Bianchi 27 years ago and at 60 lbs lighter!  Having a heck of a time figuring out how to go prone..used to be hard getting up...now it's just as hard getting down (promptly:-)

You guys are a little closer also...I'm at 1250 miles one way.

  8. Thanks..I recently bought a Safariland Cup Challenge 002, then bought their  "auto pistol"  holster offset mount & screw set and made my own offset wedge (aluminum) used the longer screws in the set.  Did a little heat shaping and other mods... the holster now holds and releases 100%...very happy with it.

It's actually Tracy who posts under this name. 😃 Warren's Toolguy, but thanks!

It's not all that bad. We give instructions for modifying the Hogue holster, and it's a really secure holster. The only thing you have to remember on the line is half-lock, not full lock. Although if you do fully lock it, it's just a bit harder to push down on the lock to release your revolver.

    Whoops!  Thanks for the info..

For several years I used the 002 and yes it does sit close to the body, so I removed the belt part and put in a spacer to set the gun and holster body further away from the belt and body, worked great and I used a block of wood and some longer screws from the hardware store, cost about 5.00 to alter.

Was just looking at the holster....and thought about adding another belt loop inside to configure the holster as you describe.  The holster worked as is 25 years ago....maybe more practice (and less potato chips)

As far as I know, there is no holster test any longer. Not in the time I've been shooting, anyway.

The Hogue Powerspeed is a semi-auto holster with excellent retention, but we make a revolver adapter for it. The Hogue has a half-lock and a full-lock position. The half-lock is ideal for when you're on the line, ready to shoot, because you push it down with your thumb when you're drawing. It's pretty automatic.

I've tested an unloaded revolver in the Hogue with our adapter, upside-down (over a bed, just in case 🙂) and have shaken it hard. I've never had a revolver come loose from it.

Our adapter will work for any revolver from a barrel length of 4" to 8 3/8", and for any caliber, including .22.

Here's a link to our post about it, and a link to our website products page. The holster modification kit is at the bottom of the page.

Thanks Warren...looks you you have your hands into everything!  Great  Products!  Let me dwell on it...that new holster technology looks a bit  intimidating to me 🙂

Was this the model which would flicker and/or go out during recoil because of a weak battery spring?    There was a rash of problems experienced by the Bedford crew that made some switch away from Burris? (If I Remember Correctly)

Thanks...an old post anyway..I have a couple of Ultradot Matchdot II that seems to be holding up well.

  13. What is a recommended "revolver" holster suitable/legal for the Bianchi Cup?  25 years ago the Safariland 002 and a retain "jump test" were the norm.  Looking at some recent videos it appears the newer holsters (semi-auto anyway) look more like metal rods and plastic. (do they really retain?)

I have a vintage 002 but since I put on a few pounds 🙂...the revolver sits close to my body...those newer contraptions appear to position the handgun out from the waist line....more desirable.

If you have a source for a right hand, S&W K Frame, 6" barrel holster please advise.

    Thanks

That's not what the headline on the Berrys WWW says.  "WE ARE STILL MAKING BULLETS". Then a lot of stuff about being so far behind as to not take backorders.

This is EXACTLY THE MESSAGE I RECEIVED YESTERDAY

I’m sorry but we don’t have any 148’s or 158’s available right now, we have been out for months and don’t have any plans on production for at least another 3-4 months. If you would please email us again around Christmas time and hopefully we’ll have a better update.

  15. Really want a long nose 158 RN with cup base, had the best groups at 820 fps (120k power factor).  The others shoot great under 770 fps.  Have a good supply of factory Remington 158 RN Target..that I can use for competition next year.  Wanted to reload over the Winter...but looks like it will be Spring before bullets will be available.  Could be worse ...but I'm in better shape than others.
