  1. Brass punch covered with tape and a hammer makes an excellent sight adjustment tool for my M&P 5" pro.. The sight moves easily.
  2. I have some older toolhead stands at are metal and not painted blue. Looking at the pictures of new toolhead stands, I see they are blue, but cannot tell if they are still metal or plastic from the picture.. Can someone let me know?
  3. I would email Dan obviously and see what he thinks. Make sure the firing pin channel is clean, and free of oil/etc. Wonder if the sear modification moved the striker forward a bit.
  4. I think we can consider this issue resolved. I deprimed about 50 cases with the updated bracket without any spilled primers. Thanks Dillon!
  5. I had re-used the bracket from the previous strong mount, but also have a new bracket that came with the strong mount I bought a few weeks ago. Looking at the two parts, they are different, so I just swapped to the newer bracket. It does look like it will work better. Less gap between the primer drop tube and the cup.
  6. And I have some titegroup. My only concern was the amount will be way down around 3.1gr for a 147gr bullet. Way cost effective, but not much room for error, and probably a bit snappier than a slower powder.
  7. Yes, but good luck finding it in stock anywhere local.
  8. Finally making the jump from factory ammo to reloading, and want to standardize on 147gr bullets for IDPA since many report the heavier bullet has softer recoil and better for steel. Trying to find a good powder, some basic requirements. 1. Must be readily available in bulk, 4/8 LB cans. - Eliminates VV320 2. Clean burning I've been using titegroup for 124gr, but seems to be too fast a powder for 147gr, even though I did find some load data for it. Popular options seem to be; WSF PowerPistol Universal clays Solo 1000 231/HP-38
  9. I wanted an easy way to add more light for inspecting powder charge before I place each bullet. Found a cheap book light at amazon that works excellent for this. Clamps to the press mount, and then has a gooseneck so you can position the light anywhere you want. Perfect for looking into each case. http://www.amazon.com/Mighty-Bright-TravelFlex-Light-Black/dp/1935009362/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1303082322&sr=8-7
  10. Thanks for the info. I saw in another post someone had a chute made out of a piece if 9mm brass.
  11. I loaded up a couple hundred 124g RN @ 4.0 TG 1.16 OAL. I am going to shoot them in the AM if the rain stops. From my test batch they did shoot pretty good groups. I just did not have enough to get a good sample. Like to hear the results of this. I just loaded up a few hundred 124GR RN Frontier plated with 4.0TG. OAL is about 1.145. Hoping this will make > 125PF out of a 5" M&P
  12. One more thing, the press was just recently rebuilt by Dillon, so all parts should be in good working order.
  13. I bought a used square deal. I'm reloading with small primers, and 1 out of ever 5 misses the spend primer cup and ends up on the bench. I'm using the strong mount. Tempted to make a little chute for this thing. Is this a known issue with this press?
  14. 2nd Ameriglo hack recommendation. Wide rear notch and tritium dot in front with an orange run surrounding it. One nice thing about Ameriglo is they use trijicon tritium in their sights.
  15. Well, I ordered a 10-8 rear sight and a .165 height front F/O from Warren. This should bring the POI up a bit, and launch straight to the GM class
  16. Are you planning on shooting 9mm major with this? If you shoot open in USPSA you want to make major PF right?
  17. Another difference I've read is that the sight pusher tools will fit the 9L slide for replacing the front sight, but will not work with the Pro slide. Probably not a big deal, but worth noting as a "difference"
  18. Looks like it may have been in a flood at one point..
  19. Just noticed that you also need a set of check weights. I wouldn't trust the single calibration weight they usually come with. It's nice to have check weights that are similar in weight to typical powder weights.
  20. That's what I meant. Primers are basically small explosives. Kind of one of those "better safe than sorry" type scenarios. They're pretty hardy, but with all the motion, especially if you're rushing and catch a primer between a moving shell plate, etc, and squeeze it enough it'll "pop." I've dropped plenty of bullets, and a few primers, and always kind of hold my breath just a bit when I drop a primer, but haven't had any problems. I've also heard of the infamous "chain reaction" where one primer sets off an entire tube, but I'm thinking that just might be an urban legend. Glasses are also good just in case any metal burrs/spurs kick up, powder sprays, spraying case lube, etc. Chain reaction of primers exploding is not urban legend, lots of posts about it happening. It's the main reason that the primer tube has a steel tube surrounding it, so if it goes off, the explosion goes up, and not out.
  21. I picked up a used square deal B in 9mm, but it's missing the locater buttons. I see that they can be ordered from Dillon, but there are 6 different parts. Anyone which # is needed for the 9mm setup?
  22. Anyone running the 10-8 rear on their M&P? That also looks like an interesting option
