go to American shooters Range on Arville and ask.
-
nssf has an apple app that shows ranges etc by zip code. download it.
also Rio Salada range is good spot if you brought anything to shoot.
Ben Avery north of Phoenix. both put on a variety of matches, guys at Dillon will know what's happening.
happy Trails,

on the .45 the prob was bullet not seated deep enough: on my way to try out those pesky 230's reseated.
on the 9mm the springs were all worn: changed the recoil spring and ordered all new mag springs; due today.

my first steel challenge:
i forgot to sort the reloads between 'practice' and 'match'
so i had so many f t feeds that i dont even know what was the problem.
many of my mags haven't been cleaned in a year or more; i stopped shoot steel then.
so now i sorted the reloads, cleaned the mags, off to the local range to see if i can reproduce problem. hope not.
after range: the .45acp's are oversize; i used some moly coated bullets and they are fatter than my cases. i will have to break out the lubrizer on those.
the 9mm's; its likely worn magazine springs. at least that's where i will start: gunsprings.com

Hi just finished my first 50 rounds of 9mm with my new to me 550b. Overall it was pretty great compared to my lee classic turret. However, i have noticed in checking many (+50%) of my rounds are not passing my case gauge. The bottom of the round is mushroomed somewhat nd the rounds do not fit flush in the gauge.
I figure i could make it work somewhat, but i must be doing something wrong in terms of setting up my dies. I checked all my dies, and found the bulge starts at station 1. Any tips or suggestions on what i can do to remediate this? I never had this kind of problem with the lee, so kind of stumpped here.
Thanks for the help ahead of time.

Hi Ya, all above are good answers. But I went and bought an undersized die from EGW also. And that did miracles.

Switched to RL-15 work well with the Dillon powder measure.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'll try that polishing trick and see if it makes a difference.
I have some very accurate Varget loads for my bolt action and don't want to give up on it. As you guys know, spilling even a few grains of powder feels like you just dumped half a pound.
I also have some W748, BLC(2), VVN135, VVN140 and Benchmark to play with
hiya, i have two pounds of H322 and it is spilling over when loading .223's. i read that above to change powder. before i give up on H322 any other intel?
much obliged, max

AKJD, that's it.
I appreciate all the input.

chubchick = gizmo. or maybe device to attach things to things. now I see that putting anything on the forend is not a good idea. something that hangs from the front sight would be best. what is it?

bags, magpul moe rail sections, or moe bipod mount. Ideally a free float rail will be best for bipod mounting.
I cant visualize it. whats a free float?

At the risk of sounding ignorant, I must ask, what the hell is a chubchik?
I dunno what to call it. but the bipods I see have attachment for picatinny rails and my rifle only has a moe magpul forend with slots in the bottom. so it needs something to attach to.
-
hi ya, i am new to AR15's (got a Del-Ton Echo with magpul furniture)
now thinking a bipod might be good for target shooting.
what connection do i need as there is no rail on bottom of forend, only slots?

hi ya Newboy, very poetic. and of course you are right. I am trying. meanwhile I think I will try the 1/2 lb of power pistol I have here. and I found that a LGS has 4227 that's next.
much obliged, max
-
hmm, I found a pretty bulky load for Power Pistol using 6gns; in one of those books I don't often look at.
I have a 1/2 lb of that. if it looks good when I load and shoot it I am done.
much obliged to all,
Max

Malarky, I feel your pain; here in the peoples republic of California we also have to wait long times from order to have it in hand.
my lowly CZ75B-SA does not have a double action trigger; single action is 3.75# exactly what I ordered.
but I don't remember who did it; cz custom or cajungunworks??
spring is coming, cheers

hi ya, squibb; no powder. I got distracted; never mind.
again a buddy recommended using a powder that fills the case better.
I find loads for IMR4227 and 125gn .38spl.
if I can find a lb of that I will use it.
I asked for more suggestions as it is difficult to find the desired powder in any local powder. I often buy something I am not quite sure of. so far most maybe all of the other suggestions don't show a load in any of the three books I consulted. I do have others but these three are my go to load books.
much obliged, Max

hey YoungEyes, I am not offended. I am living with my situation w/out going into it a lot.
I appreciated your sense.
guys, thanks for the tips, I will need a laundry list as most powders are out of stock.
I don't load a lot of .38's so these are not my favorites.
much obliged,
Max

hi ya, I have had squib problems with .38's and .357's in reloading.
a buddy suggested getting a fluffy powder that fills the case more.
I see that IMR 4227 takes a bulky load, but it says for magnums and primarily I would load light for paper targets.
suggestions?

wow! I am glad someone addressed the many issues of the Lee Pro 1000:
mine sits on a shelf together with the bullet feeder I later mistakenly bought.
I got the machine from an old bullseye shooter who did well with it. and he taught me to cast and reload with it. (casting was separately done).
so it has some nostalga
however:
I later began removing parts and doing less and less reloading on it.
first I took off the case feeder and hand loaded case by case.
next I removed bullet feeded (never worked on .45acp, bullets too heavy)
finally I stopped trying to load primers and did that on a Lee hand held device, after decapping on a single stage.
finally I bought a Dillon 550
and then I swapped for a Dillon 450
both in action; the 450 is my favorite and it is set up for .45acp. rock solid.
good luck with the Lee; o.p. must be in a cold climate, around here where it is always summer I just don't relish spending much time indoors.
but if I ever do, thanks for the tips.

hi ya, this is a $635. pistol. so if you got it for $515. i would expect the possibility that it was a demo model.
I bought my CZ slightly used, a couple of years ago. it is my tack driver. yesterday's steel match found me missing the fewest shots on over 130 targets. maybe 15 misses.
-
hi ya, condition 1 or condition 0 with my CZ75B-SA?
I shoot Steel; both 9mm and .45acp.
i am used to competiting with my 1911, which i dont lock after cocking, And my Springfield XD9-Tac which doesnt need it, nor my G21.
However am i encouraging an accidental discharge if dropped or some other trouble by not locking my CZ?
much obliged,
Max

all new springs: G21 got new striker spring,
and a couple of new mag springs.
XD9-Tac got all new mag springs: whew that was work as most of my mags are old and Wolff has new type; they sent a second batch free, for Beretta 92's and they work fine.
only one of mine took the first batch sent.
much obliged, Max
