  1. What's the best or best value camera to wear when shooting?
  2. Can a slide racker be mounted on a STI Trubor ( 10.5" overall length with the slide lightened in the rear with the top cut down as shown on there website?
  3. Hope everyone has a peaceful Christmas. Hopeing it finds you in good health and with loved ones. Let's hope for a little more peace in the world next year. Thanks to all the service men and women, police, firemen, all those that serve when things get tough. Hope this is OK with the mods.
  4. Flash hider on a DPMS rifle set with rockset. DPMS said to use heat. Vortex ( their flash hider ) said deffinately not. Requires to much heat, immerse in water overnight. Thought I would try the collective knowledge. Thanks.
  5. Is there a prefered distance down the rail to mount a red dot ( vortex strike fire ) for best target aquisition and transitioning? Have been mounting mine as far rearward as possible with the mbus sights still on but wondering if farther down might be better. Going to use these on a carbine at a couple of rifle stages at local match that usually doesn't have much distance over 100 yds. Just looking for a little insight. Thanks.
  6. Btt. Just thought I'ld run this up again to see if I can get any more feedback on this.
  7. Anyone with experience with this and a production load. I am using MG 124 jhp's. Have plenty of n350 for my super loads and a little n320 which seems to get good reviews. Have been using tightgroup but had a catastrophic failure using this powder and am shying away from the faster powders because of this. Am finding a fair amount of feedback on the problems both encountered and potential using the faster powders. Thanks.
  8. Reason for the post (and I will try to make a full post with pics later is I had a catastrophic failure 4/6 that blew the gun and barrel to pieces. luckily I or no one was hurt other than my hands felt like they got hit with a ball bat for about 15 min. Loading 4 gr. TG on a 650 with powder check and am pretty diligent about it.
  9. Have been using 4 grains of tightgroup but have gotten leary of this powder as it is fast and if extra gets by in a case am worried about something bad happening. Loading on a 650 with powder check but have gotten so info that pressures can go way up with even extra small amounts. Looking for options. This is for production.
  10. Would like to have the extended ones listed above ( the left side isafetylhs.aspx ) but was told by a CZ tech. that these are not legal for production. Looked it up and it appears this is correct. Looks like the safeties on the EAA type are somewhat different. I find the ones on this one very difficult to notch off on the draw without consciously doing so and therefore slowing down my draw. He suggested the ones that are higher ( part no. 0420038418 ) . The ones on this pistol ar like the first one listed above by cz85combat.
  11. Can you tell me were I can find some ambi extended thumb safeties for a SP-01 Shadow. I just purchased a used one and the safeties have been shortened for the previous owner and are hard to deactivate for me. Thank you.
  12. Yeah, they should have kept the 9L slide over the Pro. Wonder why they went with the Pro.
  13. How does a SP-01 Shadow rate that's been done by Angus? Is there much of a difference between one a couple years old and a newer one?
  14. Don't overlook the novak sights. Have a Dawson front and Novak with white dots on rear. Helps line the front dot up quickly especially in lower light conditions. Also have Novaks adjustable rear with white dots and the recommeded front. While Dawson's are great they require a higher front sight with his adjustables that starts to look like a sail to me. Novak's are still tall but not a tall and again the white dots on the rear seem to help line up that fiber optic dot quickly.
  15. I've had nothing but excellent support from Apex as my newer Pro had trigger issues due to changes S&W keep making. They did everthing possible to get it right and they did. My older 9L was just a strait drop in for a 2lb. 8oz trigger that is almost as crisp as a 1911. The newer is a little heavier @ aroung 3 lbs. but is just as crisp and has a slightly shorter reset.
  16. There are more differences in the slide than just the taper at the front. The width of the nose of the slide on the 9L is narrower, and it tappers back farther. The top to bottom width of the taper is deeper on the 9L and angles dfown slightly while the pro is higher and strait back. The guide rod hole is angle cut at and angle on the 9L. The slide is cut deeper back on the 9L were the extractor sits and the slide is cut back farther on the left side on the 9L also. If you pick up both guns and handle them back and forth you can tell that the 9L is lighter. Also, the forward rails on my 9L's frame are longer than my newer Pro and the slide to frame fit at the front is tighter. I wish if they were going to stay with one slide they would have stayed with the 9L. Lighter and looks a little sleaker next to the straight front of the Pro. Randy at Apex has echoed the same differences and feelings.
  17. You should all state if you are shooting 4" or 5" guns as they make pro's in each. Seems like the guy's with 4" guns have less issues with accuracy than the 5" versions. 9L's are self explanatory. I have a 9L and a newer Pro both with the newer barrels. If I could consistantly get a 3" group at 25 I would be happy. Looks for Target, what are you shooting for a bullet and a load and are they out of a 5" gun?
  18. Randy at Apex also had told me to check the shell plate holder on my Dillon 650. He had to tighten his down as it was a little to lose and would seat the primers somewhat at an angle. Another place to look anyway.
  19. Does anyone have the breakdown of pistols at production nationals? Glocks, S&W's, CZ's, etc.
  20. Have shot the KKM multiple times in both my 9L and the newer Pro. Disappointed. The KKM looks great and fits a little tighter (miced it and it is a little bigger in some areas). While the newer M&P barrels shoot better than the older ones ( delivering about a 3" to 4" horizontal by 4" to 5" vertical group ). The KKM just turned that spread 90 degrees. ( 4 to 5 by 3 to 4 ) .Found that very unexpected. When I ordered my KKM and they told me it was gauranteed to be more accurate I found out that doesn't mean with your reloads. I called to return the barrel telling me of my results and they said that it would be only if it did not shoot better with quality factory loads. I asked what kind they would except and he just repeated quality factory. I asked Win. white box or something else. He said of course jhp would be more accurate so I have some of both. Will try these and see what happens. I've shot both Zero's and Montana gold ( which I primarily shoot ) and the MG shot better. Consider these pretty decent components. I've had 2" groups at 50 yds. with my open gun. Not apples to apples but still. Kind of get the impression that from reading a no. of posts here that us with the 5" guns have more troubles with accuracy than those with the 4" ones may have to explore that a little more. Any way that is my results of the KKM barrel with my reloads. Also, am using tight group 4.2 grains. About a 132 pf if memory serves.
  21. Can't locate the 9L's original parts. Know I have them somewhere. Could use the stock parts from the new Pro but not sure this is the thing to do. Am visually inspecting each case for any hight primers or anythng that even looks close. Am going to fire both those seperated out and the ones that look good as well as some factory to see if anything shakes out as soon as the temps. get back up to at least above 20.
  22. The only xtra power springs I can find are all 6lb. ones. Were did you get yours, and did it affect trigger pull wt. at all?
  23. No, just clean them in Dillon vibratror. They do get a sprayed with One Shot case lube to make reloading easier. Use it for 38 super reloads and never had a problem there.
