From all the reading on these types of threads, it looks like even 9mm has its problems, from bullet creep to accuracy. Not sure why anyone with a 627 would want to piss with anything else but the 38 short colt? easy peasy.
Agreed.

Interesting reading, but you guys are chasing your tail. .38 Short Colt or 9mm is effortless.

I always get my own brass back since its attached to the full moon clips. I have reloaded the 38 Colt short 25+ times with a small amount of split cases...
I find that I need to ream the primer pockets every 15 loadings or so. Otherwise I get crushed primers when loading.

If only there were some kind smith that worked on guns. That would be cool

I've been shooting 357 diameter coated bullets in my 929. The bullets were pulling under recoil, so I switched to using a Lee 38 colt roll crimp die. It doesn't take too much roll crimp to keep them from pulling, mine look about like yours.
Cool, thanks

Not me, I shake and bake. You guys are way over thinking this.

I'm pretty new to reloading, but in the last 40 years and hundreds of thousands of rounds, I haven't cleaned off any lube.
So far so good.

Why don't you use a tapered crimp, with a bullet without a crimp grove?
It's a .358 bullet in a 9mm case. I'm using 9mm dies so I'm guessing it's a taper crimp.

the brass, the web, rim, strength etc etc is exactly the same,, the only difference is length.. Using less powder in a 38SC doesnt mean its making velocity at lower or safer pressure. To get the same velocity, the pressure has to be exactly the same if you are using the same powder..
So Saying Oh I use 38 short colt instead of special because its safer isnt true... Which is the point I think you were trying to say.
. Pressure will be identical, safety or lack there of will also be identical. SO if tight group cant make PF safely in a 38 SPC case it cant do it in a short colt case either. and vice versa if it can.I don't give a rat's ass about pressure, I'm shooting it in a .357 gun.
I care about velocity / power factor.

I've been delaying my next chrono session in the hopes they come out with another update.
I figure I can wait another month or so before I really need to chrono some ammo.
The chrono works fine, it's just the app that's wonky.

thats not making alot of sense. at least as far as starline 38 short colt is exactly the same brass as 38 special. If you can make X power factor with Y powder in a 38 short case you can do the exact same thing at the exact same pressure, in a 38 special case. You may need a bit more in the larger case but the pressure is gonna be the same.
Oh and just read what Mike said...
Yeh Ditto What he said..What? .38 Short Colt is NOT exactly the same as .38 Special, it's MUCH shorter.
To get the same velocity out of .38 Special I need to use more powder.

I use Armscor .22. It's the easiest to ignite. I can run a light trigger.
