Stage 1: My last stage. I was a walking zombie at this point. I just wanted to finish up, go home, and die. Stage 1 was a great stage. Targets, steel, poppers, a swinger, walls and ports. I managed THREE yes THREE mikes. I finished up, said my goodbyes, and went back to the VRBO. In fact I didn't even go back on Sunday for the shootoffs, awards, raffle and lunch. But I heard they were good. 88/101 my worst stage of the match.

Stage 7: another one I enjoyed. Targets, walls, ports, steel and a swinger. Again, I shot it in slow motion. But I got the swinger. 74/101

Stage 6: my brain was spinning I liked this stage, it had everything. Targets, poppers, plates and movement. 70/101 My brain was in slow motion, and I shot it in slow motion.

Stage 4 and 5 were two short stages that are going to be classifiers going forward. I enjoyed them. Stage 4 was shot thru a cut out B zone target in front of you. Stage 5 was a zig zag pattern. IIf my brain wasn't swimming, I would have done better. 4: 67/101 5: 80/101 (two mikes)

Stage 3: steel and speed (again) 12 Rectangular steel plates, and 1 round red stop bonus plate. The bonus plate took off 3 seconds from your time. Even with 2 make up shots, I managed a 51/101. On a day when I felt like crap I'll take it.

I had a pretty good first day, but this morning I could feel a cold coming on ( I'd later find out it was the full blown flu). Stage 2 was a 14 target field course with lateral movement. It would have been pretty straightforward, except it was set up looking STRAIGHT INTO THE MORNING SUN. I was in slow motion, but my time was ok, but 2 Charlie's and a mike didn't help. 75/101

When metal is peened you generally don't want to remove it. You want it back where it started.

All in all I had a pretty good first day. Everybody on my squad was really friendly, the stages were fun, the staff was helpful, and even though it rained for five minutes, the weather was nice. One more stage to go, and I was home free. And when I say home free, I mean dinner at The Tree House restaurant in New Smyrna Beach. Stage 8 had 10 targets and 2 poppers. My time was ok, but TEN FRIGGIN CHARLIES slowed me down. Oh well, I'm still having fun.
