  1. Thanks for the responses everyone. I realize now that I was being too hard on myself. I have learned from my mistake, and will do everything I can to not repeat it. There is a club match this weekend. Wish me luck!
  2. Well I guess it was something I'm not used to. Especially since this was the first level 2 match I'd ever been to. Maybe it was nerves. There was a target that was set right on the 180 line on the left. After I shot that target I turned left when I should have turned right. That's it in a nutshell.
  3. I have been shooting USPSA matches for 3 years now. I've only done local level 1 club matches though. I finally went to a level 2 sectional match last weekend and got DQ'ed for breaking the 180. I wound up muzzle sweeping half my squad. I still can't believe I did it. I don't even understand why it happened, and it makes me feel sick. I actually stopped myself at the same time the RO told me to stop since I knew I just screwed up big time. Luckily no one was hurt, but it still really bothers me, to the point I'm thinking of giving up the sport entirely. I was so embarrassed and ashamed. Any one done something similar? How did you handle it?
  4. Any updates? I am considering building a similar set up, so I am wondering if you got the ejection issue resolved. Also, do you have the solid long slide or the one with the cut out like a G17L/24/34/35 has?
  5. I'm pretty sure he was talking to me. Thanks Doc, that's what I figured, but I just thought I'd ask to make sure. I guess it will be awhile before I make it to B then.
  6. I shot a 61.207% today on the Hillbillton Drill in Limited. Is that one score enough to bump me to B class or will I need to shoot a few more like that? Either way it won't be until October before it posts anyway.
  7. The frames are the same. The only difference is the ejector, on the .40 the ejector is straight, and on the 9mm it has a slight bend. If you are swapping all the internal parts it won't be an issue though. Just make sure you have the right ejector for shooting .40 cal.
  8. 24P was the designation for the early ported/compensated model, Glock later changed the designation to 24C. Not sure when Glock changed that though, and I don't know how many were made before the change. It might be worth a slight premium to the right person, but I'd just shoot it and enjoy. For use in Limited/L-10, just buy an aftermarket non-ported barrel from KKM or LWD.
  9. I'm using the Arredondo basepads which give me 17+1. I've only used my G21 in one match so far and I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to using it more.
  10. Can I get in on this? A69719 Limited - C - 46.37% Production - C - 50.21%
  11. I used my G21 in a club match last weekend. I am using the Aluminator holster I bought from Glk21C along with 3 Safariland 771 pouches on a CR Speed belt. With the Arredondo mag. extensions, it was no problem to plan reloads. We had one 32 round field course that I wound up doing 2 reloads to complete. I didn't do that well though, came in 8th out of 26 in Limited, but that isn't the gun's fault. I'm just a little out of practice. Now if I can just find the time to get in some more practice before next months matches, I know I can do better. Eventually I will set up my G20 for Limited with a .40 conversion barrel, but I'm having fun shooting the G21 .45 for now. I just love seeing those big .45 holes appear on the target, and it really knocks pepper poppers down with authority!
  12. Without missing? What? You mean you can do it that way? I sure hope so! I missed plenty, but the few strings I shot clean sure felt good.
  13. Oh yeah, I've been shooting USPSA matches for about a year now. I'm a 'C' Class shooter in both Limited and Production. I'm working on improving there too. I had never shot a steel match before today and was just excited about it. The ringing of the steel is satisfying, especially when you don't miss!
  14. It was fun! Outer Limits and 5 To Go really messed me up. I had the hardest time with those. I did my best shooting of the day on Smoke & Hope, Roundabout, and Speed Option. We had 7 stages total, so that's 175 rounds minimum to complete the match. I fired 251 rounds, so that means I missed 76 times!I am sure I can do better! I'm looking forward to doing it again.
  15. Thanks for the replies everyone. Now I have some new questions. What do you all recommend for a holster and mag pouches for the large Glocks? I am torn as to whether I should go with a speed rig or a set up similar to my Production rig because of the muscle memory I have built up from shooting Production. I can't seem to find much available for the G20/21 in a speed holster set up anyway, so a Production style set up would be easier to find, as well as less cost. Thanks again for the help.
  16. I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that. I am using the factory part and not an extended slide release. It is the stock factory part causing the issues I described in my G20. BlueOvalBruin, do you only have the problem with the extended part?
  17. Did you ever get this issue resolved? I am having the same issue with my G20. It also won't always lock back on an empty mag because of this issue. Sometimes it causes the mag to stick in the gun and not drop free, I have to pull the mag out because the slide stop lever is jammed into the side of the mag follower. I'd like to use my G20 with a .40 conversion barrel in Limited, but I'd like to get this slide stop problem fixed first.
  18. Why does ejecting the large pistol primed 10mm make people nervous? What's so different about that versus large pistol primed .45 auto? I've never thought about it before, but now you guys are making me nervous!
  19. Thanks for the replies. My G20 is the newer of the two, I bought it originally for use as a "woods" gun. I've had the G21 for several years now. I've hardly even shot the G20, maybe 200 rounds, since 10mm seems scarce and expensive in my area. The reasons that I'm leaning towards using my G21 are, I already have 8 mags for it, a usable holster/mag pouches, and I already reload for .45. All I'd have to do is add some mag extensions and go shoot. The G20 I only have the 2 mags that came with it, and I am not yet set up to reload 10mm or .40 if I go with a conversion barrel. Basically, it would cost more to get the G20 ready. I do like the idea of the conversion to .40 though since factory ammo and brass for that are much more available and cost less than 10mm. I don't know why I didn't think of that. So, it appears the answer is to shoot my G21 until I can get the G20 set up. Thanks for helping me with my thinking out loud on here. Now I feel kind of silly for even posting this.
  20. I've been shooting Production with a G17 and a G34. Now I'd like to start shooting Limited, partly because hardly anyone shoots Production around my area for some reason. Anyway, I also own a G20 in 10mm and a G21 in .45 Auto. I am considering using one, or both, for Limited so I can take advantage of major scoring. I am leaning towards using the G21 over the G20 for several reasons. With Arredondo mag extensions the .45 would be 17+1 capacity while the 10mm would hold 20+1. I don't really think the lesser capacity of the .45 would be too big of a disadvantage, especially since I shoot this pistol so well. In fact, I shoot the G21 better than my 9mm Glocks, not sure why. Any suggestions? Anything else I should know/consider? Thanks!
  21. I really like my Comp-Tac belt holster. I've only used it in 2 indoor club matches so far, but it is much better than the SERPA holster I was using. It is faster to draw from while still offering good retention. I also tried a fellow shooter's Blade Tech belt holster in one match, it was OK, but it doesn't compare to the quality of the Comp-Tac in my opinion. To skxf430, the Comp-Tac model I am using is the standard belt loop holster for a Glock 34.
  22. I had a problematic Gen 4 G17 as well. There are others who have had the same problems. I got fed up with it, sold it, and went back to a Gen 3. I have seen some reports that it may not be the recoil spring but an extractor issue. There are rumors of a bad batch of extractors going around. I hadn't heard about that until after I had already sold off my Gen 4, but I'd try replacing the extractor assembly and see if that helps any.
  23. The Federal Champion 115gr. load I mentioned in my post is a minor PF load according to my friend's chrono results. If I understand the USPSA rules correctly, you can't go any lighter than 125 PF, and that is what that load achieves. How much lighter were you planning on loading?
  24. I'm one of the unlucky ones who got a Gen4 G17 that will not run light loads reliably. This is both with the original unmarked spring (01 spring?), and the 02 spring Glock sent me as a supposed "fix" for my issues. I get on average 1 stoppage out of every 100 rounds fired with light target ammo, which seems to just barely function the gun for the other 99 rounds, with the empty brass just dribbling out of the gun much of the time. I have now even experienced stoppages with supposed full power ammo that Glock told me to use. However, most of the stoppages have been with Federal Champion ammo from Wal-Mart. This is the lightest 9mm load available from what I can tell. The box says it is a 115gr. FMJ at 1125fps, which is already on the light side since most 115gr. ammo is loaded in the 1150fps to 1180fps range. A friend of mine told me that he chrono'ed some factory loads, and the Federal Champion load only averaged around 1090fps in his G17. That is only about 125PF. He told me the other factory 115gr. loads he tried averaged in the 1150fps to 1175fps range, just like they are supposed to. WWB seems to work fine in my pistol so far, which he said averaged about 1170fps in his G17, but I have only run about 150 rounds of it, so the jury is still out on that ammo. I'll need to run at least a few hundred more through it without any problems before I'll even begin to trust it with WWB. Other ammo I've tried includes 124gr. FMJ loads from Federal American Eagle(1 FTE out of 250 rounds), RWS(1FTE out of 300 rounds), Sellier & Bellot(1 FTE out of 300 rounds), Speer Lawman(no problems, 200 rounds fired), and Winchester NATO "Q4318"(no problems, 100 rounds fired). I was considering getting a Jager Gen4 guide rod, but then I found some reports where people said the bushing used to hold the guide rod in place in the larger hole of the Gen4 slide is too large and hits the frame causing some damage to the frame. I don't know if it is that big of a deal, but it doesn't sound good. Can anyone add anything to these reports one way or the other?
  25. I've been shooting Glocks for about the last 12 years. I like Glocks, but the ergonomics have always been somewhat lacking for me. After the trouble I've had with my Gen4 G17(persistant FT Eject malfunctions), I've been considering a switch to the M&P. I did get to shoot an M&P, and I liked it. It fit my hand better than the Glock, and I shoot it a little better, it also didn't malfunction unlike my Glock. I'm just looking for opinions from M&P owners, preferrably those who also have experience with Glocks. Which do you like better between the two platforms? Are there any problems with M&P's that I should be aware of? Any other information I should consider? Thanks!
