I originally joined about 12 or 13 years ago and have finally made it back. Funny how you get busy with life and forget about places like this.

Dillon and Reloading FAQs Subforum
sfort replied to shred's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I have a Dillon 650 that I have had for over a year with no problems (started on a 550 over 10 years ago). Recently, I have started having problems with getting a consistent OAL in several calibers. I use Redding Comp Seaters. The problem first started with using factory reject bullets I get from a local manufacturer, but I have tried using new brass and new bullets with the same result. The seater dies have been thoroughly cleaned and properly adjusted. Toolhead is a CNC machined toolhead that is achored with set screws. I am at a loss. Any help will be greatly appreciated!! -
Have you looked into a 92A1 slide? They are basically the same except the front sight blade is attatched with a screw on the inside of the slide. Should be cheaper than the Vertec of Centurion slide.

I have a competition barrel I am fitting for my 92 and have a couple of questions for those of you that do gunsmithing. The biggest is would you use the original locking block on the new barrel or would you use a new locking block, plunger, and pin? I am concerned about it wearing differently and not working properly in the stock barrel.

Thanks, that clears my questions up.

Is there any way to use the pickup tubes? Looking at loading bulk ammo and trying to figure out how to have multiple tubes of primers ready to go.
-
Have you thought of small, spring-loaded needle nose pliers? They don't require the dexterity of regular ones since they open on their own. Just a thought.
-
If so, does it still use the pick-up tubes? I did a search on the forums but no posts were found. Sorry if this is a repost.

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a try and see how it goes. -
Has anyone had issues with the flange being too thick on these toolheads to fit the slot on a 650? Also, would you use them for pistol, if not, why?

Found some lemi-shine. What is the best amount to use in a Thumler's tumbler? I've seen several different amounts on various posts. -

No, didn't ask, but we searched for an hour. I think I know ALL of their cleaning supplies by heart...haha We couldn't find someone to ask questions in the cleaning dept. I'll try again later. The Thumler's tumbler I got does a good job with just dawn, but I like my brass looking GOOD when I go to the range. HAHA -

I can't find lemi shine where I live. Has anyone ever tried anything like borax? Any other ideas on what to add to my wet tumbler? -
+1 on the skills!!!

I have been using a Lee universal for the last two years on non-military brass with no problems, but broke the pin on the first batch of military 5.56 brass. It was used in a lee single stage press. I looked for replacement pins and LEE charges about $3 for one pin. I decided to buy an RCBS universal decapper and a bag of 50 pins for about $35 total. LEE lasted a long time, but for the money, RCBS works out better. You can get a bag of 5 pins for about $3.

I have a holster a friend gave me for a Beretta 92FS that I love, but it has no identifying marks on the back. The only stamp says "made in South Africa". It is a black belt slide and is made of thick, tough leather. Any help identifying it would be most appreciated. I will post pics in the coming days.

OK, thanks for the info. I got my no blue INOX for less than the better looking bruniton models at the store. Never really looked into the INOX designation.
-
Are all of the stainless 92/96's INOX or is it a separate model, and is INOX stamped on the slide?

I will try ya'll's ideas. I have four different VV powders and will see how they work. I'm still trying to find my fave load and bullet weight. I really like factory 147gr, but figured i would try a wider variety of weights. Hopefully in the next year or two I can start shooting competitions.

I am looking for load info for MG 121 IFP in 9mm. I'll be using VV 3n37,3n38, n340, or n350. I have looked thru my manuals and done a search on here but couldn't find anything. I shoot a stock 92FS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
