  1. I am also running this shotgun. Shot my first slugs through the gun this weekend. I shot two slugs and they both hit low and left about 8" at 50 yards. I let my friend shoot two and his also landed low and left about 10". Was using the improved cylinder choke with standard 1oz slugs. Need to try the modified choke to see if they will group tighter.
  2. Here is my take. Richard did an excellent job designing the stages. Bravo mate! I however do not like the team concept. IMHO, no movement, and there is already not enough rifle involvement during these matches, some do but most favor shotgun. I could be jaded though, as our open class shooter was unable to shoot 2 of 4 stages (a shotgun and rifle malf!). I hate to lose! At the end of the day it was a fun match but I prefer the individual format.
  3. Anyone done this install? I know I will need to drill and tap the existing button, just wondering if the release bar will need fitting? Thanks in advance.
  4. Your .45 is fine, bring 25-40 rounds. I don't usually see a round count posted. In general plan on taking 100+ rifle rounds, 45-75 birdshot, 4-10 slugs or buckshot. It all depends on how many times you miss and how many times you want to run all the stages. Plan to have fun, its a blast.
  5. 1 mandatory reload is required. Its just my guess but I would pick a number alot higher than 80 to have done this. EDIT. The accolade is listed under Jarrett Grimes profile. It says "He is one of fewer than 70 Triple Nickel coin holders in the world."
  6. Did you have to replace the mainspring cup and detent as mentioned above? Thanks and I plan to trim my basepads to fit the well.
  7. Party crashed, lights out! Excellent point. Looks like its a 550 with a casefeed next.
  8. I have noticed dirty or clean, my bolt catch does not do a very good job at retaining the bolt. Doesn't seem to matter if its clean or dirty. It does engage after the last round on all mags but once I move the gun around a bit it slams shut. Seems to be worse if I manually set the bolt catch. Gun only has around 1K rounds through it, has a 6 position commercial stock.
  9. Just found this thread mentioning its not a drop in fit, may require some file action.
  10. Just purchased a Dawson ICE magwell with the flat MSH, it is coming with a 19lbs mainspring included. Anything I need to know before removing/replacing the factory ILS MSH? Grip fit? Magazine basepad trim? Thanks in advance.
  11. Thanks Robert. To be honest I was hoping to gain that knowledge here! I will admit that I don't clean my mags......yet, except for wiping off the dust and chasing out obvious large FOD. I also drop them in the sand at least 4 times a night! I have probably been lucky so far with no malfunctions. Might tear them down this week and see what they look like. I guess for now I will just check to see that the screws are tight when reloading between stages.
  12. Won D class tonight by 40 seconds!!! Felt great. I have noticed my CM magazine baseplates are coming loose. Can/should I loctite these in place?
  13. Thats awesome. So he did it on a SDB, I would want the collator on top of the case feeder with the above auto index in a 550! I can live with 4 stations. I know this doesn't make sense to most people who have more money than they can spend, its ok. I'm a DIY guy.
  14. If I understand this correctly it should only be this list of parts. Paragraph © defines the following parts as "countable" under the law: (1) Frames, receivers, receiver castings, forgings or stampings * (2) Barrels * (3) Barrel extensions (4) Mounting blocks (trunions) * (5) Muzzle attachments * (6) Bolts * (7) Bolt carriers * (8) Operating rods (9) Gas pistons * (10) Trigger housings (11) Triggers * (12) Hammers * (13) Sears (14) Disconnectors * (15) Buttstocks * (16) Pistol grips * (17) Forearms, handguards * (18) Magazine bodies * (19) Followers * (20) Floorplates * These 20 items are referred to with the term "compliance parts". There are lots of other components that go into a weapon, but there are the only ones that count in terms of complying with the law. So its my understanding that you would need 10 of the parts listed above to be made in the U.S. Not gonna happen.
  15. Once I get it apart, where do I buy parts? Thanks in advance for the help.
  16. After shooting around 6 .38's and 5 .357's my wife's model 60 will not advance the cylinder when the hammer is cocked. What broke? Thanks.
  17. No issues with the stock stock, hell I have not even taken posession of it! I just like the look of a "evil" pistol grip. If I could get the same grip you have on your Benelli I would be happy.
  18. ugggghhhhh leave it to my government to ruin my next 3 gun shotgun plan!!! I started to read the compliance law but its late. I don't understand the difference between adapting a Benelli magazine extension to the gun and fitting a (hell for the sake of keeping it simple) Benelli tactical pistol grip butt stock? Maybe both are illegal? Something tells me that I need to talk to a Saiga nut. Thanks for the point in the right direction.
  19. I am curious if anyone has tried to convert a Dillon 550 into an auto-indexer? Searches of the dang ol WWW.web say no. Hell if this guy can , surely someone has at least tried and failed??
  20. Couple of quick searches online tell me that there is nothing offered for direct bolt on replacements for the factory stock piece. Anyone tried fitting something designed for another manufacturer?
  21. Is this good fundamental grip advice? I thought we were looking for a balanced, relaxed grip.......
  22. To me it would make sense to find someone at the match whose opinions you value and ask them to watch you run a couple stages. I have found the way we perceive our own actions (draw, shooting, moving, ect) in our minds is often not reality. Perception of time seems warped while running and gunning. Better yet, have someone record you running some stages. Good luck.
