  1. JT you will be OK as long as you put a 10rd mag in it.Please if you have any hicap (evil) mags lock them up so you can't get to them. Better yet send them to me.

  2. I am guessing I change the cap and strut at about 30,000rds. I say this because I did it last week and that's how many rds I think I have shot through this gun. The strut was wearing a bit unevenly on the tip as was the hollow of the cap. It also seems the strut got a little shorter from wear.

  3. My advice is don't. Titanium is not the most durable material for handguns and you will probably never see any difference between steel and titanium performance wise.I use the titanium struts and MS caps but these need to be changed now and then because of wear.

I don't hear of anyone still using the firing pins.

    How bout you other guys?

  4. It is a bit of work to do that. It must be milled flat and a weaver base attached to the top. It is much cheaper and cleaner looking to buy a flattop receiver and have a gunsmith switch your barrel over. You can always sell your other receiver and get back some of your cash.

  5. This may sound stupid but one important thing is know (not in the biblical sense) your AR. I don't mean all the super technical stuff but the basics. The last 3 gun match I was at people were there that didn't know which button to push to drop the mag or how to lock the bolt back. They owned these guns and had no idea how to use them.Amazing!

  6. To repeat Kelly's #4---you MUST have a good trigger. I would rather shoot a gun with stock sights and a great trigger than the other way around.Everytime I try to shoot a stock trigger it feels like it takes all weekend to get the shot off.If you had a good sight picture at the beinning of the pull you may not by time you get to the end of that creepy 10# pull. Hang in there. And please adjust those sights.

  7. The DPMS guns I have seen all seem to be very well made. I have 2 myself and a few of their barrels.I have a 20" bull barrel gun that was very accurate right out of the box. It was also the first AR I have seen that would throw it's cases in a neat little pile without tinkering with it.The price sounds good.

It will be easier to make minor with the heavier bullets than the lighter ones but can be done without much problem.

    Good Luck,

  8. FWIW I have never been too impressed with any shotgun brakes or porting.I have shot ported and nonported guns side by side on poppers and my times were pretty much identical.YMMV

Maybe some of the others can give their thoughts on this.I think the best of the bunch is the JP brake (which I have on a 1187) and for the cost and work to install I wouldn't do it again.

  9. Thanks for the info Dan. hope you get fixed up. The more I read on the internet about LASIK the less I want to do it. I really hate glasses and contacts but they are much better than some of the horror stories I am reading.Your right, it's not like a bad haircut.Feel free to email me with more details if you like. Any other problems--dry eyes, halos, etc?

  10. Kelly, while on the shotgun subject---how are you setting up your Benelli? I have 2, a 24" open gun w,optima and a 21" gun that started with a ghost ring cyl choke barrel but now has a ribbed barrel w/bead.

Do you think the optical sight is better on the receiver or on the barrel? I think back by the eye is quicker but the barrel mount gives you a non shifting sight from barrel movement in the receiver.
