  1. Fun match today. Very challenging stages. First one I exceded my speed limit. I went to fast. I though I was calling my shots, but I had two misses. It was about 18 rounds. Each stage build on the other. So, the second stage is the first stage with more added to it. It was about 32 rounds. I had to think a lot with this stage. I had to break it down into managable pieces. It would of been easyer if I was shooting limited, but that was the challenge. The third stage I had to reload five times. It was 43 rounds. I think I hurt my brain thinking about it so much. It was by far the most fun stage. You started out with a loaded shotgun. Five rounds in it and you shot the texas star first. Not as easy as it sounds. The recoll of the shotgun made it hard to go fast. After you shot the texas star then you loaded your gun and shot the rest of the stage. I think I shot it pretty good. I shot production, so it was alittle more challenging for me. Except for Mike, everyone else was shooting either limited or open. I was the only one shooting production. Except for the first stage with the two misses I though I shot it pretty well.
  2. I am flattered! I can tell you this. You can buy a new gun and buy better gear. Most guys are going to shoot a lot better a lot easier with a lighter trigger and better sights. I am flattered! I can tell you this. You can buy a new gun and buy better gear. Most guys are going to shoot a lot better a lot easier with a lighter trigger and better sights. That’s just the way it is. That is the reason competition shooters are always monkeying with their guns. I learn more by challenging myself. Shooting groups at 25 yards with an open gun is one thing. Shooting groups at 25 yards with a double action pistol that you decock after every shot is quite another. You will learn more faster by challenging yourself. Good call on buying ammo. Thanks Ben. I'm going to keep shooting as much as I can and keep challenging myself.
  3. The classifier went fairly well. About 9 guys showed up. No major problems. The classifiers that I used were Six, Seven, El presidente, and steely Speed V (my favorite). They were nice simple stages. Easy to setup. Fast to shoot. I classified in production and limited. I don't know how well I did. If I were to guess. I would say I classified as a "B" shooter. Will see in a few days. Overall, it was a good day.
  4. I think Glocks have more advantages than a lower start up cost. Which you can buy a Glock 35 use it for production while you save up enough money for limited up grades. Parts are inexpensive and are avaible every where. There easy to work on (Gunsmiths are expensive) I can go to any gun shop and pick up extra mags, holsters, and mag holders. I can drop in a new barrel in a matter of seconds. I only clean my glock twice a year, and there extremly reliable. I bought my Glock 35 used for $500, new barrel $100, mag extensions and mag well for $200 for a total of $800 and I can use it for both production and limited.
  5. Recieved approval for the match by the section coordinator. I wasn't sure but I think the classifier is good to go. I hope it was whirth the effort.
  6. I don't know if the classifier is going to happen or not. I had no idea you had to submit forms and get approval. I thought you shot the match and submited the scores. Shit.
  7. Shot about 200 rounds today. Trying to practice for the classifer on sunday.
  8. Went to the range today and shot about 400 rounds. Just practice. Drawing, firing, and reloading. Get claasifed this Sunday hopefully. Interested in how well I do.
  9. Went to the range today and shot about 150 rounds. Just basic practice nothing fancy, drawing and firing and reloading. It was relaxing. Weather was awesome.
  10. O.K. I've been following Ben Stoeger for awhile now, and I've deciede to have him as my mentor. I'm not going to buy a new gun, because I dont think that it will make me a better shooter. He shoots one gun a beretta 92 (very well I might add). So, I'm going to pour all my money into ammo and see if I'm any better next year. Anybody have any thoughs? Anybody tried this? Think it will work? Craig
  11. Best movie made since Zombieland! Hit girl was awesome! Took my teenage son and his friends they agreed it was great. Action packed didn't know what was going to happen next.
  12. Went to the range today. Shot about 300 rounds. Just practiced drawing, shooting, and reloading. Trying to deceide if I should buy a new gun or put all my money into bullets? A new gun would be nice, but I'm not going to get any better if I don't practice. What to do?????????? Craig
  13. I came in second place at the steel match. Not too bad. There were about 10 guys shooting my division. The long distance stages felt very difficult. I think I need to practice that more.
  14. Shot a steel match today. Two of the stages were long distance shooting, and two were short distance. Of course, I felt like I was a turtle on the long distance stages, but I think I shot about the same as everybody else. The weather was prefect.
  15. Got the results back form todays match. I won my divsion, but I can in seventh overall. Shit, I wanted to do better than that. I shouldn't be to disappointed with my overall score since everyone that beat me was shooting an open or limited gun. It was a fun day. I wish I could beat everyone, but that's the way it goes. It's my competative nature to want to win. Craig
  16. It was a beautiful day for shooting. Any way there was four stages. The first one was simple and straight forward. Had to shoot two pepper poppers before leaving the starting box. Then shoot the paper targets. I though I did well. No major problems. No malfuctions or jams. The second stage was much more challenging. The fault lines were very close to the barrels obstructing the line of sight of a pepper popper and a paper target. You had to lean over the fault line in order to see them on both sides. I though my plan went well. No problems just wish I could go faster. The third stage which I though I did well was divide up into three basic parts. Had to start in the middle and work your way either left or right and come back the other way. No problems or malfunctions just wish I could go faster. The fourth stage which I set up didn't go very well. I had a jam in my gun. Which never has happen. The round did not feed into the chamber. My plan for the stage went well, but my malfunction really slowed down my time. I was very disappionted. Shit!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a great time. It was a lot of fun. Craig
  17. Was able to seek away and shoot this morning. I shot about 300 rounds. I practiced strong hand , weak hand, draw fire reload fire, and draw fire move draw fire. It felt like a good practice. It's hard to tell if it's helping or not. I'm trying to resist buying another gun, and put all my money into ammo. It's just that all these guns keep calling my name and saying buy me Craig.
  18. I wouldn't wast my time. I had to force myself to watch all of it.
  19. Found a couple of drills to practice, bill drill, and triple six. If I can find time to shoot this weekend (Easter)? Maybe I can seekout for a little while.
  20. Hey, I did better than I thought! I came in first in my division (limited),and fourth overall. The first stage I came in last and it was the easyest stage! There was only four stages. I setup the second stage, but it was cold and I don't think the guys wanted to be out there for very long. I would of liked to shoot more, but what are you going to do? Not a bad day after all. One things for sure, I just need to practice a lot more!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. First USPSA match today. It was great to get out and shoot a real match. I felt really slow and clumbersome. I don't know if it was the weather (in the 30's) it was suppose to be sunny and in the 50's,but I felt like I hadn't shot for a long time. I did try and get out and practice, and I dry fired all winter. Scores are not posted yet, but I don't think I did all that well.
  22. Dry fired today can't what until I shoot a real match so I have something good to write about.
  23. Missed the first match of the season went out of town I hope they don't cancell next sundays match.
  24. Dry fired today. Practiced drawing, reloading, opening and going through doors.
