  1. hi, i have two progressive loaders a 650 & a new LNL. I love my 650 but there was room on the bench for another and i just wanted to try the LNL. so far i have not had any problems ( just doing 45acp right now). only thing i dont like is the primer seating bug-a-boo. flush does not cut it for me. called tech from Hor. said flush is fine no need to go deeper. the tech was really defiant when i probed him on how every reloading manual tell you to seat primers just below flush or right to the bottom of pocket. the conversation went no further as he was no help and did not seem like he wanted to. (i assume because they have had thousands of calls over the yrs. about this problem) from reading diff. forum posts, this was a big issue for users. and it is for me too! just wanted to know if someone has solved this? i asked on the ar15 forum and i got a timing fix but the timing is perfect, i`ve been over it & over it and thats not the issue. the primer punch needs to be a tad longer. it would seem that Hornady knew of this and because of possible lawsuits due to people trying to seat primers to the point of a poss. explosion, that they purposely made it this way as to keep this from happening because of some brands are sensitive. appreciate any help w/ this subject OTHER than the timing is off. thanks !
  2. ditto on the Nelson Conv. bought one 2 yrs. solid lock-up, extremely accurate. recommend to anyone!
  3. hi, anyone here vouch for Tripp mags? i have read that these mags are very good and equal to if not better than Wilson Combat mags. i recently bought a new L.B. Premier ii w/ the 1.5. there is nothing wrong so far with the mags from L.B. i bought 2 Wilson Combat mags and have used them with no probs. my bro-in-law is into match 1911 shoots and recommended trying at least 1 Tripp mag. i really see no reason to buy another brand unless the above i`m using will degrade after awhile. just wanted a little user info from people using tripp mags. thanks!
  4. good to know, i mainly use Penn Bullets (uncoated) in 200gr. w/ CCI . i too have an R.O. but just purchased a L.B. Premier ii w/ 1.5 guarantee. i`ve only begun to shoot the Baer. only factory stuff now just to break-in. Les told me not even to bother calling about stove-pipes, feed problems etc, until i`ve shot aroung 6 to 700 rds thru it. when i`m done breaking in, i want to work up some loads for it using win 244. i`m hoping its a good powder. some say its just a newer 231 w/ a copper fouling agent in it. i will see? thanks for your post!
  5. hello, i just read a post about win 244 from Feb. i just now bought a lb. trying to find data OTHER than what is on Wins. web site. has anyone used this in 45acp for 200gr swc or 230gr fmj rn? if so, would you post some data of yours? win. web site only has published data for a LRN bullet only one hornady 230gr bullet and i believe a Speer gold dot hp. was looking for more bullet types in those two weights. i know the powder is fairly new but none of the established bullet makers ( horn, nosler, speer, sierra) has any updates on their sites. called Sierra tech...they said they are just now doing data for 244 and may have an update in a couple of mths. posted on their site. said they are now in the process of putting out their 6th Edition manual. would be glad to hear someone with experience loading 45 acp with it.
  6. my 90gr calls for 1.070. kinda new with this m&p9. you say you changed the recoil springs. what # is the stock spring?(in the m&p9) please explain the poundage ratio for loads. i assume if your using a lite load a stiff spring won`t work the action as well or at all reliably. where can you buy different springs for the m&p? if i use a 90gr bullet at around 1200+ fps, will i have to change the spring to something stiffer than the stock? thanks!
  7. hi, have any of you had any luck with 90gr bullets for 9mm? i bought a box of hornady xtp 90`s hp. never loaded 90`s before. using in my m&p9 full size. 115 and 147 seem best so far.
  8. hi, sending dan burwell my mp9. need to ask him an important question before shipping. sent email but he only reads them when he is in( wed&fri.) need to contact him before wed. anyone know his phone number. i know its unlisted( don`t blame him)but its really important!!! any help out there? thanks very much if someone has it!
  9. hi, was looking for 9mm load data in here and several posts said "look in here" for load data. i`ve seen personal postings of peoples pet loads for 9mm but is there a pinned or locked post with various combined loads all in one post? if there is, could someone send me a link to it. thanks!
  10. the bulge is in the middle of the brass. as far as the bell, i always put enough in so that the bullet easily sets in the brass. its easy to see the flare. was just wondering how manufacturers get theirs to look perfectly straight walled.
  11. hey guys, i`m sure this topic has been discussed in here before so bare with me. i got the case bulge problem. seems no matter what i do to rectify this problem i still have it. called sinclair and they said the case might be sized smaller than needed. in other words, the inside die spec is quite a bit smaller than .355. which in turn is making it bulge when seating. also was told that the bullet may not be seated perfectly straight.( btw, using dillon dies) a few of these reloads won`t settle in my case gage the way it should because of the bulge. what can i do to fix this ? i would like to have no bulge at all just like factory new ammo looks. what say you guys? i am using quality bullets, barnes, berry, rainier. sierra. all give the same thing. next step is to buy redding dies and give them a try plus a redding competition seating die( sinclair said they seat perfectly straight.)
  12. thanks dc and thanks brian! i sent an email to them an hour ago. i`ll wait til tomorrow if they reply. btw, is this bracket for both bins or are there 2 seperate brackets, one for brass bin and one for loaded rounds? There are 2 brackets the one for the empty case bin is bolted on in front of the bracket for the loaded rounds that came with the Strong Mount, using the same mounting holes with longer screws. ok, that answered my question. thank you!
  13. Hmmm, since Dillons service is legendary, what if you called them and told them that yours broke? Would they send you a new one, no charge? nah, i`m pretty honest. i`ll just pay for it.
  14. thanks dc and thanks brian! i sent an email to them an hour ago. i`ll wait til tomorrow if they reply. btw, is this bracket for both bins or are there 2 seperate brackets, one for brass bin and one for loaded rounds?
  15. hi, was noticing lately in the dillon catalog that there is a bin positioned in front of the loaded cart. bin on the 550b. its for the empty brass. does anyone know if you can just buy the bracket for it? i have extra bins. thanks.
  16. what is the difference between a universal decap and the a regular full length die? i mean, what will the universal do or not do that would help me.
  17. hey grumpy, you say its safe to tumble loaded ammo? i thought of doing that but was afraid to. never heard of anyone doing that. no chance of one or more going off in there?
  18. thanks for your replies guys. figured i was going to get these answers. i was always afraid to tumble loaded ammo. so this is safe? no chance of a primer getting vibrated to go BOOM?
  19. hi guys, bought a 550 a year ago. just love it. pistol loading is a breeze. rifle on the other hand, not so. here is what i would like to be doing: loading 223 without case lube. i don`t like the greasy feeling of loaded ammo. and don`t want to spend time wiping them off. what i do now is skip the resizing and prime station(i do them all on a single stage) then put them in the powder drop stage and then move on. i thought some time ago i saw dillon made carbide rifle sizing dies but they still recommend case lube. basically i want to operate this as if i were doing pistol cases. is there anyway to FULL LENGTH resize and deprime without the lube? thanks for any help!

hey guys, as a follow-up, do any of you know of a book or books( not reloading manuals from bullet manufacturers) that have a lot of info on loading the ar15(223-5.56)? specs such as the usual powder type, bullet and bullet weight and most importantly, OAL. looking for authors with their own loads, tips and such. thanks again for any help.

thanks, i know, i called sierra because they are the only ones i know of that have data strictly for ar`s. they told me it would be a few months if not longer before they would have a update for this powder in ar loads.
  22. hey, anyone have any load data for 8208 xbr? just bought some for my AR loads(.223-5.56) and looking for more info other than whats on IMR`S web site. looking for loads for AR only, no bolt action because seating depth is hampered by the ar mag. thanks!
  23. thanks for reply! could you get away with using it though? i put a 9mm case under it and then a 357 case and they seemed the same. i will buy one anyway.
  24. hey, i have a 9mm set-up with my 550b, can i use the same powder funnel if i change to another cal. like .357mag?
