  1. powder funnel was the one it came with (.223). the friend who set it up has been using one for years. i hope none of you misunderstood me, the spillage is not much, maybe 7-10 specs of ball powder(h-335) but what i understand from the dillon co. and many of you, you don`t any, none, nada. and thats what i expect for what i paid for the equipment.
  2. hi, buying a dillon rapid trim instead of a hornady case prep center. that being said, extra tools i will need not buying the prep center will be primer pocket uniformer, chamfer tool etc. is there a difference between a primer pocket uniformer and a primer pocket reamer? i believe the reamer is for pocket crimps only but i`m not sure.
  3. hey, called dillon today about their power trimmer. i think i`m going to get it. they told me there would be no need to chamfer or deburr case after trim because of its hi-speed motor. gent said he uses his on .223 cases and never has to do those steps and it won`t shave copper on the bullet. what do you guys think? its a toss-up between the dillon and the hornady case prep center because the hornady also has built in deburring and chamfer tools. thanks for any help!
  4. nope, using large bar! sorry about the double post on same sub. could not find the a delete button to rid the other post.
  5. hi, just started using 550 to load a couple of mths. ago. had a lee prog. for years. this machine(dillon) is the cats meow x 1000!! one reason i went to dillon besides quality, warranty etc. is i was tired of powder spillage when in dump station. the lee was horrible at that. was told by several friends of mine who have one, is that there is hardly any if not any on the dillon. i`m loading .223 and almost every time the shell comes down there is a small amt. of powder spillage. i do wait a second or two to make sure all powder goes in before lowering ram. am i doing something wrong. i had a friend who has used one for years set it up for me to make sure it was set up right so i know it is not that. any help please! hope i just don`t have to put up with this because before i bought it i read many an advertisement saying NO powder spillage as with other(lee) manufactures.

  7. thanks, read the other reply below yours also. this kind of disappoints me. whats the sense of a size station on this 550 if you cant use it except for pistol cases. to bad there is not some great thinker out there that could think of a die that would keep case from stretching so you could load like a pistol case. but i guess every one else lives with, so can i! thanks again.
  8. hi, trying to figure something out. on a single stage, was always told to size first, then trim. i want to load a shitful of .223 on my dillon 550. how do you know the length of case after you size on the 550 without taking it out to check? seems to me it defeats the purpose of using a progressive if you have to check each one. unless there is a way to adjust the size die so a case will never stretch when sizing. any help? first time using 550 on rifle cases so i want to get it right the first time. thanks!
