  1. I used Vihtavuori powders in my 40 when I shot USPSA but I was wondering if anyone uses it in their 9's and if so which one. Thanks
  2. I might be willing to sell the press less the tool head. So you would get the basic press plus priming system for $250
  3. If you are not sure about needing a 2nd 550 then maybe you would be willing to sell it to me so I don't have to keep switching die heads between 9's and 40's and 45's. I reload on the kitchen table but it would be no problem to buy another 2X12 to mount it on and just change boards. I have thought about making two mounting brackets and mounting the 550 to one and the T-7 to the other.
  4. Well I'm not sure I need two 550's. I have one mounted and one I just picked up and have not mounted it yet. I have enough bench space to fit one more press so I was thinking about getting the Reeding T-7 http://www.redding-reloading.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=49:t-7-turret-reloading-press and doing single stage press work on it as well as Rifle work. The T-7 head holds 7 dies and has interchangeable heads so I can mount two different calibers on each head. Money isn't the issue as much as bench space. If the dillon doesn't sell locally I may just get the T-7 next Friday when I'm at Cabelas and figure something out later for the extra loader
  5. Let let start by saying I have two (one in use)550's and I love them but sometimes you have to wonder why companies do what they do. I'm getting things around so i can start to reload 357 sig and after a lot of reading I decided I want to get a Reeding G-RX die and and run all my 40 cal and sig brass through it before loading. I called Reeding to see what I had to do to use this die in my 550 and to my surprise they said you can't !!!. The gentleman that I talked to said that Reeding designed and made a prototype shell holder/pushrod that would work on a 550 and offered it to Dillon but they were not interested???? I would think it would be a good seller but I guess dillon didn't??? So now I guess I'm going to sell my other 550 and get a single stage press for the G-RX
  6. I've had my 550 for about 8 or 9 years (the entire 9mm set up in brand new)and yes I try to rotate the shell plate smoothly but I may just try setting a bullet on top next time I load. I'm using mixed brass, Winchester primers, BBI 147gr bullets and 3.4grs of Solo out of a full powder tube and I was getting readings around 789 except for the 500 ones. If the lot number is the # on a sticker on the bottom of the jug then it is 1930 and the jug was filled on 11/23/09. I guess I won't give up on the Solo yet, I'll see if I can work through this issue. Thanks Guys Lee
  7. I'm back 10 feet from the Chrono and the shells that read low usually didn't eject from the gun or just barely did.
  8. After reading a bunch of good things here about Solo 1000 I bought a 8lb keg and started to work up some 9mm 160gr and 147gr loads. My problem with this powder is the inconsistency that I'm getting with the chrono numbers. It seems like 2 out of every 10 loads are 200 fps lower then the others. Can anyone help me out with my problem??? I'm loading with a Dillon 550. Thanks Lee
  9. G-Man, Your right I was talking about ES. My high Vel was 855 and my low was 790 out of two 5 shot strings. I am using mixed brass with Win primers and shooting these through a CZ SP-01 shadow custom target.
  10. I'm working up a 9mm load using Solo 1000 and 160gr bullets. I broke out my new Pro chrony and I was wondering if my results are common(This is my first chrony)? I'm loading 3.1 of Solo with a OAL of 1.140 to 1.145 and I'm getting spread of 65fps. Thanks for the help
  11. Call CZ custom, I'm sure they could tell you what size it is and I'm sure one of of on here could find you just one that size. We have a goo selection of set screws at work so let me know when you find out. Lee
  12. Has anyone here tried 160 grain bullets in their Shadow? If so How did they shoot? Thanks Lee
  13. I ordered some of their 9mm 160gr bullets a few months ago. I received the in a very timely manner and I thought the price was in line so I'm a happy customer. I sure I'll order from them again in the future.
  14. Rumor on Glock talk is that Glock will be putting a "-" or reduced weight recoil spring in the new Gen 4- 9 mm glocks. Rumor also has it that glock will supply you a reduced weight spring for any Glocks already in circulation.
  15. Back when my local club was putting on IDPA type shoots we had a .22 class. We ran this class first and set the poppers light enough that a hit on the top half would knock them over and the rest of the course was same as the big boys. We normally ran 6 to 8 kids and at least that many adults through the class every month. In the two years that we ran the 22 class we did NOT have ANY safety issues with any of the Jr shooters. The 22 div gave the Jr' a reason to come with Dad and we rarely ever had to ask for help pasting or resetting targets because the Jr's wanted to help. For us it was a win-win decision.
  16. I just ordered 8 lbs of solo 1000 and will be paying $123.00 out the door for it. I didn't even check around for pricing so I don't know if I got a deal or I got screwed. What are you paying for this powder? Thanks Lee
  17. I have a gen3 31 and a gen4 17, I have Big hands and I Love the grip size of the gen4. I was going to buy a mod 32 but after getting the Gen4 17 I think I'll wait until the Gen4 32's come out.
  18. I just put Sivigney's on my 17 and I would consider having them on any pistol I own now.
  19. I would like to load some 160gr lead bullets ( http://www.thebulletworks.net/160-gr-9mm-Round-Nose-bullet-p/09-160%20rn.htm) I'm currently using WSF and VV N320, does anyone have any loading data for this bullet and the powders I'm using? Thanks Lee
  20. I loaded up some BBI 147gr's for a club shoot a few weeks ago and ran them through my CZ 75 SA. I was impressed with the recoil and accuracy of the load so when I got my new gen 4 G17 yesterday I was anxious to run a mag or two of the reloads through it. I Was disappointed in the fact that most of the rounds had to be hand cycled through the gun. The bullet nose seemed to dive into the feed ramp or only feed part way into the chamber, when this would happen I had to drop the mag down a bit and tap the rear of the slide. I like the accuracy of the load in the G17 as well and what few double taps I did manage to shoot the front sight didn't hardly move at all. Just so you know the gun ran flawless with factory ammo. Here's what was in my load. 3.8gr of WSF BBI 147gr OAL 1.138-1.140 Any ideas on how to make my glock shoot the bullet and powder? Thanks Lee
  21. I'm looking for a pistol for my girlfriend so she can shoot production class with me. I have a 75-SA and a Glock 17 and she finds the grips to wide for her small hands so I need something that has thinner grips and after handling the P-07 I thought it just might be the ticket. Do you think the P-07 would make a good IDPA and USPSA production class gun? Thanks Lee
  22. Can you adjust the 773's so there straight up so you can use them in IDPA?
