  1. Sorry dude: grip mods are strictly illegal in production, they were discussed at the BOD meeting in dallas and are posted on USPSA in the members area. A good RO will see it and you will end up as an open shooter.

    MGM beaver tail

I put one on my Glock 35 limited gun and wrapped it with Agrip and I feel that it works great. If you have large hands it will keep you from getting bit. I have found that it does help with my draw and position of the gun on the first target.
  3. Hey, if you can catch a ride with Stockton, that 8 hour drive will be about 4 hours instead - just bring a blindfold or take some valium if you're nervous about speed! Robert is on the annual "Holy crap that match was alot of work Cruise with the wife". I am putting my entry in the mail today. I willo get with Robert when he gets back and find out if he wants to go or not. What squad are you guys on if you don't mind squading Porter and me.
  4. Anyone from Dallas or North texas heading that way. I am looking at going and would be great to share a ride and have someone to talk to for the 8 hrs ride.
  5. I think most of your selections are great, some suggestions would be: CM drop in trigger moduel, YHM low profile gas block. I had some issues with some of the upgrades not working so well on my bushy, they can be frustrating. DPMS offers a great platform. I do agree with show up and see what you can look at and possibly try out. The most important suggestion is shoot what you are comfortable with. Best of luck and 3 Gun is way fun.
  6. IPSC matches and USPSA are apples and oranges. When you have over half your stages requiring less than ten rounds they are easy to score. The round countd are a bit different. 300+ rounds in 13 stages and 500 rounds in 36 stages are a little different. I am not down playing what you do by any means, it is just apples and oranges.
  7. I am glad to see that there are other matches that have back ups. The way opeople have been bad mouthing the DTRC it would seem we are the only one. As for other matches to attend go where you want to shoot, do not use others experiences to form an opinion. This is the first year we have had this problem and we did have 349 comp. this year. If it such a slow bad match its simple don't come back, please do not come back. Buy some cheese and take the wine elsewhere. Prize table wise, the DTR had about 45,000 on the table that you got to pick from, including 5 STI slides. If there are ways to spped this up i will gladly take them (constructive ways), the other thing is put up or shut up, help out sometimes instead of just complaining. Dave still looking for that picture.
  8. I would like to add my two cents if i could. I was never a glock guy prior to shooting USPSA. I think the one major plus with glock is that out of the box they RuNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN! There are alot of add-on that are easy to install. Have a trigger job done, Dawson Ice mag well, Hard Chrome the slide, MGM has this awsome beaver tail (no more slide bite) and to finish it throw some Pimp grip on(Agrip). Dawson extended base pads are great, no tools to lose. Jump into limited and have a blast. I have kicked around getting a Edge and always seem to go back look at my glock and change my mind. Just my thoughts.
  9. I think you are correct in the fact that there are two threads here. The first i think is just simply competion shooters and duty shooters are different animals. Competition shooters shoot because we enjot it and it is fun, most officers shoot to stay current. They are two very different styles, I will say this (please do noit beat me up to bad) most officers think they can shhot really well. They usually change their mind when they shoot at even at a club match, major matches are a different story. I have nothing but respect for LE and some of them are really good, iI happen to know a little about dynamic entry and cover principle, our sport and their training are truly apples/oranges. As for the second part of this; if you are not willing to put the range time in you will never be able to develope any real talent god given or otherwise. Talk to any of the GM, M and A class guys and see how much pratice they put in. I have watched Max, Travis, Lee, David S. and many other G's shoot for years know and they always put their game face on and come to win, think like a winner and you will be a winner. Just some thoughts, Shootem as you see'em.
  10. Something has been brought to my attention and i think it needs to be addressed. I understand that Jim and Nancy lambert of firebird precision firearms didn't and haven't quite got the appreciation that they diserve. Let me first say that they were the first sponsor to step up and give up one really nice rifle. I contacted them from a add in a magazine and they stepped up right away. Robert and I really appriciate all the sponsors and I won't say some more that others but when you are a small opperation like firebird and you come online right away as a match sponsor that requires us as to stand up and take notice. all of us a competitors need to appreciate what these sponsors do, most of them are competitors as well and have all lokked at some prize tables and said gee what happened here. Thank you Jim and nancy and all the sponsors, you will be hearing from me again it was a real plesure working with all of you.
  11. OK I feel left out I will sponsor the main wood for the overall winners. Have to come up with something different that DTRC those are special for that match. Steve, lee and Ken I will get with you.
  12. Most of the Items in the prize boxes like the glasses, oil, cleaner or glasses cleaner packages were arranged by porter. As for the Ergo Grips I believe it is www.falconind.com. Thanks to all the sponsors and if all that shot the match could take a little time and send out a Email to the sponsors it would be greatly appreciated by us. MGM did a great job with the targets, Mike was hesitant because of some bad experiences and He really did us a solid with the sponsorship, plus I think MGM makes the best targets and steel products you can buy(personal opp. of course). Firebird precision fireamrs supplied the AR15 M4 for the overall match winner and it was a kick A#% rifle. USSA and STI always does a great job supporting the match. I would also like to say that Larue did a great job especially since he was supporting his own match. There were so many sponsors that came online for us it is difficult to thank them all. Hopefully we can get some others online for next year but all this is really up to the shooters to let these companies know that you appriciate them. As for the palm scoring stuff that is going to happen at Area four, I wouldn't sweat it, Speers and the crew will do a great job. I am sure there will be some hick'ups but nothing that can't be fixed. i am looking forward to just being able to shoot a match as a competitor.
  13. Okay I will take the hit for the must be present to win idea, Not Porters Idea. Last year it doubled the time for the prize table because we had one person with 25 tickets waiting on the names to be called, there were more than just that one case. Prises were picked up and it wasn't what someone wanted and I had to field those phone calls, If this was an order of finish table it would take that much longer. I think the way Robert handles the prize table very well. I sure all of you that have been at a big match when you started and had to wait on order of finish; you are some where in the middle or on the end and ended up with some creappy springfield towel or a cozy and some progrip and were not happy. whether you are first or dead last you will get something good and of value at the double tap, hell how many range bags do some folks need. I would like to make eveyone happy but we all know that is not going to happen, so my aim is to make as many folks as happy as I can. Some great suggestions have been made and I will discuss some of them with porter. I like the feed back, nothing is that bad that I take personnally. If i took it personnally, ask anyone who knows me, you would know it. Please thank all of the sponsors and keep them in mind when you are buying equipment, they support you, you should support them.
  14. I am glad Manny was able to make it. didn't sound like he was going to be able to at first. As for the rest of you, thanks for shooting the match and it will be great next year as well. I do have one thing to say........I had alot of fun meeting everyone and being RM. I have placed the order for good weather for next year, but we all know how that works.
  15. thanks, I would like a picture with you and the trophey for the web site if you could. Steven@anythingfrom wood.com Blood pressure is fine, better living through chemistry. (prozac helps toooooooooooooooooooooo!)
  16. Thank you guys for all the great thoughts about the match and yes we will figure out something to take the place of the cave. Enough said about the rest, S&^$*%$T happens. Just hope everyone comes back. And no there was no signifigant cranial event. lack of sleep and Broncitus will do that to you. Stockton will always be a pain in the A^*$^, but will always be welcome on the range. I will continue to give him crap.
  17. I hope eveyone had at least some fun at the Double Tap Champ. this year. The weather just wouldn't cooperate, Friday Cold, wet and wind, Sat cold, dry and wind(lots of wind), Sun cold in the am and hot in the afternoon. I was sorry to see so many people leave on sunday before the prize table drawing. there was about $30,000 on the regular prize table and the other drawing was about $10,000. Down to the dirt: Yes the scoring, prizes and awards do take time. We had problems with one squad and it hurt the entire match, I will not appologize for them, when you feel you have to argue evey shot for no good reason and always have to game everything it just slows things way down (2 hrs and 25 minto shot one stage). No one waited 4 hours by the way to shoot any stage, we moved the waiting stages to other stages as much as we could. this is an instance where you as fellow shooters need to get on the other competitors that are slowing down the match and move them along, peer pressure can sometimes do wonders. I am sorry that some of you did have to wait, we had some issues that are going to be addressed and will not happen again. It is difficult to say the least, to put on a match of this size and not have some issues. We will fix it and it should not happen again. i enjoyed working with all of you and hope you will come back, keep bringing new folks with you and keep this sport growing. RM
  18. Sorry about having to DQ you. Hope you will come back and see us again. The weather wasn't good this year at all, I hope you will give it another shot. RM
