  1. OK, here's the situation; The RM is called to a stage for a steel cal., he arrives makes his way to the front of thee stage. The RO clears the stage and ensures no one is downrange. The range is clear, the RO gives the RM make ready, the RM draws his gun, a competitor enters the shooting area air gunning and runs up the Lt side of the shooting area and stops even with the RM (he was past) after the gallery and both RO's yell stop several times. The RM looks over sees the shooter and DQ's the shooter for safety. What is your call, DQ or NOT, yes this happened today.
  2. I am so looking forward to seeing everyone at the range. Everything is looking fantastic. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up, please bring plenty of water with you. We will have water on the range but it goes quick with 250 people. Steven
  3. Does anyone have any info about shotgun matches in Idaho during the month of july. Sporting clays, skeet or really anything.
  4. I would never penalize a shooter that just can't hit a target at that distance. Its the gamer that thinks he can just throw one shot out and walk away, take the miss. I want the guys that think they can game the stage, not get away with it. I have seen it to many times. Do I have to put it in the stage description? thank you guys.
  5. Its all crap, if there is such a shortage and it is so expensive to get lead, and all the gov regs and such. Why haven't 44Mag, 38spec and 357 Mag sky rocketed like everything else. There just isn't that much demand. All the gloom and doom was for nothing, I counted 7 ARs at my local walmart yesterday and we have three. Not to mention Our academy has a ton. it all just old American greed. Every idiot that read on the internet how the Gov was about to take our guns away, went out an bought a gun. Flash forward, the constitution is still in play and unchanged; imagine that! Don't write your congressman, write your ammo manufacture and your reloading components manufacture and tell them you re unhappy (hell straight up pissed), maybe no one buys ammo for a week and see what happens? See if that gets their attention. If your not part of the solution, you re part of the problem, Just my thoughts.
  6. What is the max penalty you can give for a competitor that fails to do something in the written stage description or fails to neutralize a target because they can't shoot 350 yrds ie, A competitor steps up to the target and throws a round down range and says he's done. is it a standard penalty or can I add some time to at least make competitors try to hit it. opinions or rule quote would be great.
  7. At the DTR, I always manage to get help from a few individuals with tear down and some set up. I do not rely on these folks and if I ask I always get plenty of help. I also understand that folks come from a couple of hours away and need to grab a bite and get on the road. I feel we have a great body of shooters in this sport and it is my opinion if you just ask they will step up. On the other side of that coin is the folks that do not do anything at a match, you have to stay on them just to get them to tape. Hopefully they do not act that way at their home club. For those of you that help at every match you go to no matter where, thank you and keep up the good work. You are welcome at the DTR if you help or not. Steven
  8. Ladies and gentlemen: we need RO's for the championship match. I promise you will be well taken care of, ask anyone that has RO'd for us before. Targets are on your stage before you arrive on stage, stage boxes are set up with everything you need, all electric scoring that works very well (we have been using it for awhile and Robert has the bugs worked out. I believe in taking good care of the RO's that work this match and you are appreciated for the hard work you do. Robert and I finished setting up the last stage on Friday and this is going to be a great match, how Robert keeps this match new and different every year I can't quite figure out, he has outdone himself again. We are short RO's and I know it gets hard to work matches this size but we can't do it with out you. Come on out and help us out, you won't be disappointed.
  9. thanks for the good info. i am not planning on shotting this in compitition, its my new carry gun. i will n more than likely order them from dawson, have't had any trouble with anything from them thus far. again thanks for the info, hope everyone has a great xmas and happy new year.
  10. looking forward to this match. Broke my knee back in Oct and i hope i will be healed up by then. Sheldon, shoot me a PM i would like to do an overall trophy for the match. Something really shit hot.
  11. Does anyone know where I can get a few good relatively cheap single stack 9mm mags for a spartan III.
  12. Robert has started shooting a match on the 1st saturday of the month. It is a great match.
  13. I am sorry to have to cancel sat 15 Sept IDPA match and the double tap. Robert would normally post this on the web site but he is unfortunately out of town and i was going to run the match for him this weekend. Due to wet conditions of the road (MUd Mud and more Mud) the Sat 15 Sept match is canceled. See you next weekend at the USPSA match. Please pass this along if you know anyone that was planning on attending.

  15. situation sounds abit sticky. If you are down range of your gun wether you break the 180 or not and you fire it sounds like unsafe gun handling. Without seeing the exact situation its hard to tell. Is it safe? how can you properly control your gun if you are down range of it and cant see whats in the sights, i am confused. It would be a call the RO would have to make seeing it. If you have good control over the gun and the gun(not your body or arm, the Gun) didn't break the 180 you are good to go. When I RO i concentrate maily on the gun, finger, and muzzle. nI have my offside RO watching for foot faults and other and usually don't have any problems. Again it tough to make the call not seeing it. MY2Cents.
  16. i wanted to thank the RM and RO's for all the hard work they put in. I think this was a great staff and look forward to working with them next year. Great job folks you make this match happen and it is appreciated.
  17. Great match and a big thank you for all the competitors that came out. Please make sure a visit the doubletapranch.com site and thank the sponsors for all the support they gave us this year. Hope to see everyone out next year. Robert did a great job from start to finish and i am sure next year will be just as good. Congrats Bill on the win, hope you like the trophy.
  18. Great topic, is it the RO's fault that a shooter is on the bus,NO! It is the shooters, as an RO i have been put in situations that have caused some discussion about a questionable DQ. What are you to do, it seems like there are three kinds of RO's 1. RO's that won't warn a shooter of anything even new shooters. It has been my experience that they are on a power trip and do nothing to promote our sport. Usually not welcomed back at our range to RO. 2. Middle ground(rigid flexability) sees that someone has made a mistake, fixes it by either DQ or warning taking them aside and letting them know what they did. These RO's ussually know the current rule book and enforce the rulles fairly. 3. Those RO's that are everybodies buddy and let just about anything slide. I guess the question is wherd do you want to fall into the spectrum at. At major matches within 5 min of being on a stage I can tell as i feel most shooters can, just by the walk thru of how the RO is going to be. Sometimes you have to be the hard ass and but you must always be fair and equal. This goes for a new shooter or GM. My2cents
  19. Had the same malfuction. Clean the gas tube, check the gas block for fit. If it is a pinch type, it may have elongated and letting gas escape. I changed my gas tube and block and it fixed everything. I wouldn't hurt putting in new gas rings.
  20. Tacpro says the same thing, but it is sure is nice just to have everything on my cart. What is the date of the next match.
  21. Just because an RO has been around for awhile and RO'd alot, doesn't mean the know what they are doing. I have had people bring me rule books that have are 2-3 generations removed and try to argue a rule. These are usually RO's that have been around awhile. Time and or AGE does not mean experience. Anytime an RO makes a giant #$%^ of him or herself, politely show (off to the side) them in the rule book where they are wrong. I have misread a rule and have been corrected by a shooter, I thanked them and moved on. Just my 2 Cents.
  22. I am looking forward to this match, I have heard nothing but great things. Does the web site have directions to the match. One more question, can I bring the zombie hunter golf cart?

Some 10rd mags have trouble feeding when loaded in with a barney round. You should try to load and let them sit foir away as previously suggested, it is more than likely just the mag springs. I would double check your mags really well for the little plastic overmold taps that are sometimes left behind, they can cause problems as well.
  24. Production shooters might want to consider limiting what they are posting about what they are doing in production. We might end up with another rule change about what ammo you can use and if you can reload on your own or not. JM2C
