Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I would be very careful using any polish that is not designed for handgun brass. Automotive cleaners may contain chemicals such as ammonia, which is harmful to brass. Don’t risk destroying expensive brass by trying to save a few pennies on the wrong type of brass polish.
  2. Here are pictures I posted of my setup in a older thread It is a very solid $40 tool bench that goes together in 15 minutes. Remember that you don't really need a big solid bench. A very small solid bench will work out find if you have a few shelves and a table or light duty bench for a work area
  3. The human eye can't focus on two things at the same time, the target should not be in focus.
  4. Get rid of the Dillon 650 and go for the Hornady. I'll give you my address so you can sent that unwanted POS Dillon to me. I have a spot all picked out and ready to put it right next to my other Dillon 650 . That way I can leave one set up for .45ACP and use the other for change overs to less used calibers. I love my Dillon so I can make you happy by getting rid of it and I will be very happy to own another 650.
  5. That is funny, I was just about to mention that someone else on another forum mentioned the same problem. Then I noticed that you had the same user name.
  6. Have you considered using a stool? I used an adjustable height bench that I bought at sears for about $40. I use it with a 30 inch stool. It allows me to set the bench at 20 inches and still sit in an almost standing position, which allows me to apply proper force to the handle. The set up I have is rock steady and isn’t bolted to anything so it can taken down for storage if you are living in an apartment with limited space. If anyone wants to see pictures check out the ones I posted in this thread. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12079
  7. I just put down a deposit on an order yesterday Wed. $849 cash price and it should take about a week or two to get it for me. I am going to order a bunch of h110 today Thur
  8. It was as bad as I thought it might be Under $50 for 200 Starkight cases, and under $50 for two hundred 320 gr bullets. All I need now is powder and primers. Dies were also under $50 Edit 325 gr speer bullets
  9. Thanks for the advice but I would rather not buy ready made ammo, I looked at the prices and it’s too darn expensive. I already ordered 200 brass cases and I am going to order some powder and primers today.
  10. This will be my first Magnum revolver, as a matter of fact I only own one other revolver and that is the .38 special that I was issued when I became a cop back in 1970. I haven’t ordered the gun yet, I am driving down to the gun shop tomorrow morning with a $300 deposit and then the dealer will place an order for the gun. It can take a few days or a couple weeks to get the gun, depending on his supplier. I want to get some ammo ready before the gun arrives because there is no was I can afford to shoot ready made ammo and shoot more than 10 or 15 at a time. I'll check out www.hodgdon.com but I really would like to hear what other people are using that are shooting the .500
  11. I may be wrong because I am not familar with the 50 AE but I don't think they have a cannelure which is necessary for revolvers. I guess I could look for some kind of hand cannelure tool but I don't want to get into that. I would really like to just buy ready made bullets, unless it is so expensive that making my own saves me a bunch of money
  12. I finally made my decision regarding the S&W .500 Magnum. After waiting over a year for the 4 inch .500 to come out I did a complete 180 and decided to go with the 8 inch. I had a credit left over from Midway from a portable reloading bench that I returned. I used the credit to buy 200 Starlight cases. I called Brian Enos and ordered the dies (by the way he told me carbide dies aren’t available for the .500 yet) for my Dillon 650 along with case feeder plate and various other parts. The only things I need now are bullets, powder and rifle primers. I don’t have a current load manual, I have a Lyman 47 edition, and Hornady Fifth edition © 2000. What manual or manuals do you use for your .500 data? And what loads are you using? What brand rifle primers are you using? What bullets are you using (I was thinking of using 440 Gr. Bullets)? Do you cast your own? I would rather buy ready made bullets, but I haven’t checked out the cost of .500 Magnum bullets yet so maybe casting might be a good idea. I haven’t cast bullets in over 20 years when I used to cast lead balls when I shot black powder, but if I had to I wouldn’t mind doing it again if I absolutely had to. I have been using Alliant power pistol with my .45 and I like the way ball powder measures should I change powders, do you use ball, flake or extruded, and what brand? I guess I have a couple weeks till it is warm enough to shoot outside so that should give me time to order what I need to be ready. I will be going to the dealer tomorrow to place the order for the gun so I was hoping you might save me some time tracking down what brand of powder and primers to buy.
  13. My reload table is adjustable in 2 inch increments, my table is set to 28 inches, with the strong mount it is the perfect height for sitting.
