  1. I would be intersted in knowing what happened to the infamous stage 8 scores as well. I've heard some tidbits of info. But whats the real story on that situation?
  2. Necessity (for shooting) is the mother of all invention.
  3. I've got a buddy with an SX2 that only changes his every 5K. He uses that interval to stay out of trouble and hs not had issues. That being said, I like Tod's theory. Better safe than screwed on a stage!
  4. Thanks, it works really well. You can just smack it with any part of your hand from several different angles. No need to train your self to find the "sweet spot" on the button. I think this type of release button cover affords a shooter more options of movement. Just my $.02
  5. If you like the SLP, then try the Winchester SX3. Get ahold of Chirs Patty @ CPWSA and I bet he can help you out.
  6. I do indeed have a gun that blows back....you have one that blows out. That must be why those AR platform guns are so unpopular? But seriously.....I'll call uncle. No malice intended. Just some good ribbing.
  7. Clean? CLEAN??? Isn't that something those shooters with the whimpy gas guns do? Gas is where its at! Those other guns just "blow" back!
  8. I had problems with mine. The adhesive went outisde the perimeter of the frame and the button itself was sticking to the adhesive. I took mine off. Same thing I heard about the adhesive problem and thats one reason I went another direction. Also it seems like you have to hit the Prog Arms button more "square" and centered in between the plastic outer support rim to make it work. I like to use the bottom of my open palm to just smack the button instead of having to center my finger over the button and press. But.....thats just my pref.
  9. It is nice to give credit where it is due. As to grinding away part of the inside of the forearm to install it, I have never found that part to do me much good. For the price difference between what you have and what everyone else has, I could even afford to spend the night at a Holiday Inn Express. Yeah the best part is Greg did this one for free since it was a prototype and he invented it on the fly. I think he used a total of $0.40 worth of material.
  10. Thanks Charles, but I cannot take credit for that. It was the invention of Greg Copeland, a true craftsman. FYI...this BRA requires that part of the forearm be ground away on the inside, to allow room for it.
  11. I don't "push the button" I just slap the side. Here's the B.R.A. (bolt release assist) made from kydex, covering the button and affixed to the forearm. I hope the pictures attaches...
  12. One more thing. If you really want to get the best experience using your practicle shotgun. Then you need to attend the High Plains Shotgun Challenge next year. I went this year for the first time and had a BLAST! (pun intended) Trapr puts on a great match.
  13. I use TruLock chokes in my FN SLP Mark1. George and the folks there are great. The IC patterns almost as good or better than the Mod. using 7.5 shot game loads. And patterns slugs very well. At FNH midwest 3 gun, other were knocking those little pinks off left and right. I think I hit one all weekend. And all the flyers were dust! First go pattern your choke with the loads you'll be using. Learn your holdoff for the no shoots. And make a trip to the sporting clays range to practice up for the flyers. Those courses are supposed to be set up for cylinder. But...............
  14. I'm looking for some adavnced training in 3 gun. Does anyone have any recommendations on a 3 gun training course? I would like to find something over a weekend if possible. Thanks.
  15. As a new (this year) competative shooter, the biggest improvment to my game was weak hand reload. I started strong hand, but the switch to weak hand resulted in much more efficient runs. And don't look at your gun/hands while reloading. At a match like BRM3G where Andy like to hide the plates. If you are not watching the trees closely as you walk and reload, you may (will) miss a plate. Keep eyes looking for targets while reloading by feel and instinct. I have had the good fortune of being squaded with some great shooters. And have learned a TON from them. These couple things are the tops in my book. Oh, and go to Oklahoma for the HPSC next year. I went this year and had a blast! Trapr puts on a great match.
  16. Only on a very limited basis. But he's not taking on any others right now. I think he's very busy building pistols.
  17. I would really appreciate some photos - I get through Topeka regularly and would be happy to drop off some of your favorite beverage. Thanks I think I've got it now. Lets see if these work. In the last pic, note the little nub that as put on the back side of the lift gate. That is so the gate doesn't go to far down (or I guess it woul be up?) Anyhow your shell can kind of "bump" goign into the tube and raising the gate just a touch makes it smoooth as silk. enjoy That last pic didn't load here it is.

  19. I would really appreciate some photos - I get through Topeka regularly and would be happy to drop off some of your favorite beverage. Thanks Thanks for the beverage offer. But I hate to drink alone. Feel free to pull in for a pit stop sometime and we'll have a cold one. My pics are too big of file size to post here. I'll try to send them to you in a pm.
  20. Hi Tod. Man you don't want to ruin that nice SX by putting my chicken scratch on her. And I don't know about "famous"? I'll probably get cut in editing!
  21. I started the 3 gun deal this year and went with the FNH SLP MK1 and could not be happier. Like Tod said, just get a Nordic bolt handle, WELD THE LIFT GATE and a little dremel and polish. Go shoot a couple hundred rounds through it on a sporting clays course, clean it, shoot another 50 and wet it good the morning of competition. Oh, and always use the light piston. Only use the heavy for 3" loads. I shot with Tod at Kentucky whenhe had ole' Nelli before he sold her. Then at Fayette he had the new SX. I think the FN had "shown him the light". Tod, I hope I'm not speaking out of school here? If you needs some pictures of my mods let me know and I'll be glad to share. I've got a pretty nice BRA (bolt release assist) that my smith made. You'll need one of those too. Enjoy your FN!
  22. My buddy has the fixed front and I have the swivel. Each one has its own advantages and disadvantages. But I think the manuverability of the swivel front is the biggest thing. Sure makes it nice manuvering your cart and bags of goodies through hotel lobbies and into elevators and such.
