  1. Check out what Phil does when he doesn't have time to go to the range: http://bamairsoft.com/videos01.html#airsoft101 This will give you some ideas as to how to set up some targets and movement drills. Good luck.
  2. I like the replaceable battery idea and I have heard that the display is larger on the pocket pro which will help with my old eyes.
  3. Thank you for the input. I am going to go with the Pocket Pro II. I will try to order it tomorrow unless someone has a used one for cheap.
  4. Most of the clubs in my area use the Competition Electronics timers but I am finding that most people recommend either the Pact or the CED7000. Is there a big difference between the three? Also, I have been looking for a budget timer so I have scoured the internet looking for someone selling a used one but it seems they are no where to be found. Even e-bay doesn't show any used one's for anything under $100. Does everyone buy them and then never upgrade or sell the old one? Does anyone have a used one they want to sell for under $75? Okay, if not, where is the best price to get one? Thanks.
  5. Has anyone put a rail on their 930 Miculek model and then put a rear sight or an optic on it? Would a rear sight work with the front sight? Would an Aimpoint H1 work on it? I was want to put a rear sight on my 22" model but like the idea of putting an optic on it if I want. Any thoughts? Thanks.
  6. I started out with the 4 shell caddies and they do not fall out when running around the stage. They take a little practice but after watching some videos and practicing loading, it becomes easier. I do wish I would have gotten the 4X4's instead, just because they hold more rounds and take up less real estate on my belt. I recently got the quad loads by Taccom and I have tried loading two at a time with the shells sitting on a table and found it to be almost twice as fast than the 4 horizontal shell caddy. I have yet to try out my Taccom quad load system but will give it a whirl tomorrow. So now, I have tried to become good at all methods as I will use the Taccom loaders, which hold 16 rounds total but will also have a four shell caddy on my non-gun side near the front and two more behind my gun. I hope I didn't confuse you more and keep in mind, I am still fairly new at the 3 gun game. Good luck.

  8. I was wondering if the holster would be legal per the rule books for both USPSA (Production) and IDPA. Thanks.

Dont forget the Ready Tactical. A lot of 3 gunners are using those. I got one but it is for a Glock and I LOVED IT
  10. If anyone is going to the Richmond, California Fathers Day match this sunday, and are driving along I-80 east of Fairfield, I could be your commute partner. I am down to one car and the wife needs it. I can pay the bridge toll. Thanks.
  11. I think that free ammo sounds like it may be your problem, im sure some of these fine shooters would do you a favor and take it off your hands.... Wait....so you are telling me that people would actually accept my ammo if I gave it to them?
  12. Thank you to all that commented and for providing me with a lot of information. I find I am learning more and more about this sport. Even though my buddy says it is a competition and NOT a sport (topic for another thread). I got back to basics and thought about why I got into this in the first place. That in mind, I am going to stick with production and checking the "Minor" box of course (Or I probably don't have to check it at all since I learned that it is minor automatically) and get better with my Glock 34. Thanks again. You guys and gals are the best!
  13. My buddy uses air soft a lot for his training and it has helped him a lot. He uses a Gas Blow Back style so it has a little recoil and the feeling of the slide moving. When you go to the range, take your time. Maybe one shot every ten seconds and as far out as you are able. Like one guy said in the other thread, he regularly shoots at 35 yards out so the closer one's, even the 25 yard shots seem easy. It seems everyone wants to shoot at 7 yards but you will benefit more if you shoot at 15 or 25 yards. Oh yeah, and don't forget to shoot one hand only and with your off hand as there are some shoots where at least one stage you will have to shoot with your off hand. What gun will you be shooting?
  14. Three things you can do: 1. Dry fire. 2. Dry fire. 3. Dry fire. Okay, enough of that. Yes, shoot it as much as you can, once, twice, three times a week or even once a month. But do dry fire it often. I try to go through dry fire drills including, drawing, trigger pull, mag changes, movement, etc. 4-5 times a week for about 20 minutes. You can put an empty casing on top of the gun near the front sight, pull the trigger and not drop the casing or just watch the front sight while it is on a target to see if it moves. On live fire days, you can buy dummy rounds and load them up with your regular ammo or better yet, have a buddy do it for you so you don't know if the gun is going to fire or not. This will help remedy any flinching you might have going on. When I got to be a decent enough shot that I could consistantly put rounds into a large target like a B-27 at 15-25 yards, my buddy told me to ONLY shoot at the 25 yard line using a bullseye target, which is probably around a 6 inch circle. He said to take my time and only do precision shooting which would help my overall shooting performance. He was right. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
  15. And I thought i was silly for taking everything out of my pockets before a match and turning my cell phone to silent. Of course, I carry two wallets, one for each back pocket so hopefully I am balanced out.
  16. I have seen people go into the porta-potty with their rig on in the middle of a match (I am assuming to go pee). They MIGHT be taking it off to go poop for all I know and no one else would know. And then for pee, how does that apply to female shooters?
  17. Thank you very much for the offer. I would love to try it out. I am not sure if I will be there on the first sunday but the third sunday is a definate. Hope to see you there.
  18. I am glad you added that. If I ever get around (meaning if I get any extra money) and decide to purchase some Atlanta Arms lighter loads ammo, I will look into it. For now, I will use what I got. Wish there was a way to figure out exactly what I DO have. Thanks for everyone's response. This board is awesome as well as the people here.
  19. I have a Glock 34 with the ZEV competition springs in it and a .25 cent trigger job. I get Federal 147 grain HST ammo at the very best price in the country (FREE). I had the gun/ammo chrono'ed and it came out to be around 150 PF. Years back, I gave the gun to a top ranked 3 gunner who changed out some things for me but being even more of a noob back then, I didn't ask him what was done. I just knew that the trigger felt soooo much better than my stock Glock 17. I think I have a different recoil spring in it now as the guide rod does not appear to be a polymer one. For this ammo, should I go ahead and change out the recoil spring? Would it make a difference? I am a "C" class shooting production and probably well on my way to being a "B" shooter if that makes any difference. Input is always appreciated. Thanks.
  20. It is completely safe and has been shot out of glocks for years now. You make a good point. Thank you
  21. Thank you for all the info and advice. I get the ammo for free which is why I shoot it. I might have to break down and get some lighter loads from Atlanta Arms and try it out. Getting a Glock 35 is a good idea for a dual purpose gun and I wish I would have known that before I bought the Glock 34. We live and learn. Maybe when I have some extra money after the kids graduate college I can put more into it. Let's see...that's only in about........20 more years.
  22. I had my ammo chrono'ed and was told I am at around 150 power factor for my 147 grain 9mm round that I use in my Glock 34 in production for USPSA. I am a "C" class shooter and am improving. Should I be signing up for minor or major? Is there an advantage to one over the other? Thanks.
  23. I have a buddy who went from C to Master class by mostly dry firing and his dry firing consisted of drawing a glock, reloading, transitioning from target to target, one handed, switch to the other hand, etc. without pulling the trigger at all. Course, he also used some air soft with some air soft plate targets and only went to the range about once a week if that. Good luck and welcome to shooting USPSA.
  24. One thing that has helped me tremendously is dryfiring. I put on my rig, empty gun, empty mags and do draws, reloads, sight picture, etc. Steve Anderson has a really good book on dryfiring which is only $15 or so. Make sure you practice single hand dryfiring as well, both left and right hand. Put up some targets in various positions and transition from one to another. If you have a hallway, you can put targets inside various rooms as you race down the hallway to engage them. JJ Racaza was quoted as saying he only gets to shoot at the range once a week but the rest of the week he dryfires and practices reloads and it has worked for him. Good luck and stick with it.
