  1. I shoot production with a Glock 34. I have heard that Atlanta Arms has some very good ammo for competition shooting for USPSA matches. What grain bullet and or product should I order?
  2. I think I will stick to my "Stock" trigger set up with the polish job and lightened springs. I am thinking that in the course of fire, how much of a difference can the "Ultimate" trigger make over a good quality polish and spring job...oh boy, did I just open up a whole new can of worms now with THAT question?
  3. It is their "Ultimate" trigger for $250, model number: FUL-ULT-9-B-R with the red trigger safety tip. I have a chance to get one half priced but want to make sure it is production leagal. Thanks.
  4. After reading all the comments and thinking about it, I believe I can do just as good with my monsterman grip set up than the guy next to me with the pistol grip set up. Thanks for all your responses.
  5. Well, I am not going to use a pistol, a pistol and a shotgun at a 3 gun match. I guess I could use my 18 inch barrel AR, my shotgun and that as the pistol. But then again, I don't see the pros using it. If the pistol grip gives that much of an advantage, why don't people use it on the shotgun instead of opting to use a regular stock, similar to an AR with a Monsterman Grip?
  6. To their credit, a lot of our competitors have RAW's and have been shooting for years. I kick myself in the rear for not getting one back in 1999.
  7. Moving the kids out of school, giving up a 20 year career for something brand new (If I get a job somewhere), just to have a pistol grip...well, probably not an option right now. I think the Monsterman Grip is a little more forgiving than the Kydex Wraps since it is just like shooting a regular rifle like an M1a or Keltec SU16. But really, is there an advantage to the pistol grip besides just that it looks cool?
  8. No one has mentioned anything regarding anyone's set up at a match that I have gone to. I have legally obtained and legal possession of 30 round magazines. I find the Monsterman grip to be comfortable for me and have seen Solar Tactical's products. They look good but I don't see them giving anymore advantage to what I already have. I was just wondering if you put an AR with a pistol grip in a competitor's hands, had him run a stage and then have him run the same stage using a Monsterman grip, would there be a significant difference in time or performance. Thank you all for the responses so far.
  9. Nice looking rifle but I already have a JP upper and a lower with a S3G trigger and want to stay with the AR platform.
  10. The California 3 gun competitors using AR15 rifles have one of two options. They either use an AR that they had prior to 2000 and that they registered as an assault weapon. Or they go with a feature less build with a Monsterman Grip which allows the California shooter to have no bullet button. I am wondering if there is a significant difference in shooting ability between the pistol grip and a feature less grip such as the MonsterMan grip or the "U-15" grip? Could someone be just as competitive using a feature less rifle and shoot just as fast and accurate as a shooter using a pistol grip?
  11. I have a JP upper and recently bought a Meopta 1-4x scope. I have a American Defense Manufacturing Recon QD mount for it. My 3 gun and gun "Guru" buddy told me he has never heard of ADM and told me I should go with a known name scope mount. I had heard that the ADM was a good mount and at the time, was changing optics (A Burris MTAC and a Aimpoint H1) so I wanted a Quick Detach mount. A few questions came to mind: Is the ADM mount a good mount? Is there an advantage to having a Non-QD over a Quick Detach (I have it pretty tight)? What recommendations do you experienced 3 gunners have for a mount? Thanks.
  12. I have found myself doing that and found my ass being handed back to me as I walked back to the loading area with my head hung low. Steel seems to be my nemesis as well (Those dang plate racks) but I am working through it by doing 25 yard 5" bulls eye target shooting. Seems to be helping. Glad I stumbled on this thread. Great information.
  13. Keep in mind that with two optics though, it puts you in open and not tactical
  14. Why? Is it because there is something you feel is lacking in your scope? Have you tried another scope and find something better? There is probably no reason to spend more money unless you can quantify what you hope to gain and balance it against the extra $$ you spent. And unless you also shoot 3-gun, bear in mind that whatever advantage your buddy says you will gain may not apply to you. The one thing I did notice is that trying to find the 300 yard dot was hard to do and then to line it up with the target wasn't easy either. I felt the reticle was sort of small But maybe it was just me and I need more practice.
  15. If you guys really want to learn about the California laws pertaining to guns, check out this website: calguns.net It has a lot of information regarding RAW's, bullet buttons, magazine capacities and anything else pertaining to gun rights.
  16. Now what about the Meopta that my buddy is suggesting. How does it fair?
  17. Does the vortex 1-6 have the same reticle as the vorex 1-4 pst viper?
  18. My 3 gun buddy is encouraging me to step up from my Burris MTAC to something better. He is mentioning a Meopta which he says would run me about $900. He says the MTAC reticle is a little too busy and the Meopta would be a much better 3 gun optic to use in competition. $900 is a little steep for me but I don't want to downgrade to something not as nice as I have now. Please give me some opinions. Thanks.
  19. The upper I am looking at has an adjustable gas block but it has a stock BCG and I want to try and upgrade to a LMOS but didn't know if I had to also buy a bolt. Money is tight and I don't even know if can afford the LMOS by itself right now and I saw the enhanced bolt was an extra $135 give or take. So, I am gathering that it would not make THAT much of a difference stock bolt, versus "JP Enhanced Bolt" if I have an LMOS, stock bolt and a decent compensator?
  20. that was supposed to read low mass, not little... using my phone's voice recognition... maybe I should get an Enhanced phone.

  22. my 3 gun buddy has talked me into buying a little mass bolt carrier. I know I will need to change the buffer but can I use a stock bolt or do I also need to purchase the enhanced bolt from JP? if not, is there a big difference between a regular bolt and a jp enhanced bolt? Thanks
  23. My apologies. I didn't actually try the link.
