  2. But how is it scored ? I can't find the rule,post #2 seems to be the most logical..but I still don't have a rule # ???

    Different variables.

First shot at a popper that falls when hit.

1 A, the rest FTE for each target and 2M for each paper and 1M for each steel

First shot at a popper that he misses.

2M for each paper, 1M for each steel and 1 FTE for each target except the one he shot at.

First shot at a paper target.

Score the target (A/M, C/M, M/M etc) and 1 FTE for each target except the paper target he shot at.

  3. Which is why you give the MR before a shooter unbags. Seen an Arb once where a shooter dropped his gun while unbagging. MR is the start of the COF.

I agree with this. I've heard a lot of "bag it," etc. "Make Ready" is the only time this is acceptable IMO.
  4. Stage 3 getting tossed is no big deal. The rest of the positives to the match so outweigh a little prop snafu that it's hardly worth mentioning.

The stages in this match were really, really fun. The amount of work to build the handcuff stage, the trap-door stage, etc was substantial! Thank you! The coordination to have all of the shooting done in time for a live band to play and for a proper crawfish boil to take place was also really, really impressive. You guys know how to run a match.

I wish I could have stayed for awards, but time didn't permit it. Next year I'll find a way to stick around, for sure.

In the meantime I'm really thankful for all the work the organizers and the MD put into the match. You guys are the reason this match sells out so fast, that's for sure.

Yeah, it sucked but we did everything we possibly could. You can rest assured it won't happen again at that match because of that reason. Or any stage I work. Ever.
  5. 1.2.1.3 Long Courses in Level III or higher matches must not require more than 32 rounds to complete. Course design and construc- tion must not require more than 8 scoring hits from any single location or view, nor allow a competitor to shoot all targets in the course of fire from any single location or view.

  6. We will have a tip jar setup on stage 3 for those of you who will, no doubt, agree that we three are the best set of ROs since the inception of IPSC in the late 1700s.

1700's, is Pat on that stage???

You mean that young whipper snapper that shoots Open?
I don"t shoot Open and as far as the best RO's go, they wil be on Stage 5, Turkey Shoot, where they might actually have to make a call, not on Stage 3, where it is either down or not. Jeremy, you have your hands full with Myers and Ginger Head. Good luck and try to get them to keep their pants on, especially Will.
Keep their pants ON?! We are the no pants stage.
  7. As much as I love this sport, some people are taking this way too seriously. The shooters were made clear that this was prohibited. Most likely because the owners of the range didn't want to make the news and get shut down because someone decided to blow his toes off... It's one thing if your at an area match and they're screwing with the rules. But, a local match, run by volunteers who most likely have to keep the other members of the range happy as well. My club just started having matches, and if someone blows his toes off, I can't go up to the guys who didn't vote to spend funds on steel targets and who only shoot trap twice a month and say "well rule 10.1.1 says this!" They'll get us shut down. According to the OP, the guy who did this had it made clear to him "don't do it".

  8. Shooting supine was very common in the past and is allowed under our rules if done safely.

I know I have fallen on my butt and shot "supine". Our local Match Director did so at the last match. I saw one top shoot do so purposely at a Nationals in Tulsa...on a field course. I tried to get the Front Sight photog to capture that moment, but he didn't get the coolness and the shooter wasn't yet known to him.

What kinda photog doesn't shoot first and ask questions later?

  9. Our club rule is if u don't help tear down then they will zero all ur stages

And what rule do you cite for that? Or have you had this local rule approved by NROI?

I just shoot there... I don't make nor enforce the rules. That is just what's said during the shooters meetings.

My apologies. I interpreted "Our club..." to mean that you had some doing in the matter. The question remains, however. It's just directed at the wrong person. ;)
