  1. I have not, my guess is the resale value would be 25-30% less than I have into it. You can't go wrong either way. If you have the space and the bank roll to go a little bigger in the beginning then I would say go BF20 but consider that the mill is just the first part of the investment. Tooling, accessories etc. add up quick. Make sure your budget considerations includes those costs and that will make the mill decision a little easier.
  2. Send it back to CMore they will rebuild it on the cheap. I can't remember the cost but it will be cheaper than buying new.
  3. So I have said this many times in the thread and in PMs to other members. If I had to do it all over again I would most likely get a BF20 class mill like the g0704 but every time I consider upgrading I have a hard time justifying it because my LMS does everything I need and want it to do. If you have the funds to go bigger then go bigger just know that either way you go you will not regret it and AR lowers and all things 1911/2011 can be done on the LMS just fine.
  4. Acetone for the degreaser. You soak the part for a while then "Gas" it in the oven. Gassing leaches out any oil form the pours of the metal. You continue this process until the "gassing" no longer produces wet spots on the metal. I use 100/120 grit aluminum oxide for the blasting and surface prep. The Cerakote instructions are pretty good and I follow them to the letter and get pretty good results. http://www.cerakoteguncoatings.com/resources/files/Cerakote-Training-Manual-Web.pdf
  5. Thanks Warren! Great tips! To save time on the vid I did not go through the mill setup but I do use the indicator on the mill table and bed of the vise as a matter of best practice. It is nice to hear that I am on the right track since I have picked all of this up on the fly with the help of the folks in this thread. @bmiller - http://www.littlemachineshop.com/products/product_view.php?ProductID=1249&category=1319044103 is the test indicator and they used to sell the spindle mount but I could not find it on their site. @Daniel - I saw your email and I will respond later today. Thanks guys I will keep up the vidz as I have time.
  6. OK this is my first ever how to video. Did it in just one take and a quick edit makes for not so riveting content but it should get the idea across. It was tough trying to express an idea in words while I was juggling the camera and working the tools, need more practice. I kept saying 1/5000 which is .0002 but I am really aiming for .0005 I hope this helps a little and I will make part 2 as time permits.
  7. The range is in north east Mesa. Mesa would be your best bet for lodging. Anything north of the 60 and east of the 101 is ideal. If you want the nicest hotels look to Scottsdale. It's north of Mesa but not too far.
  8. Couldn't get to it this weekend. I will get it done asap.
  9. I will try to find the time this weekend to make a video of the squaring, indicating and machining of this jig and flat topping of my trashed slide. This should help and I have not contributed to the thread in a while so it will get me off the snide.
  10. I attach my test indicator on my spindle. First I square the vise and then the slide. I can take a pic of the set up this weekend.
  11. That fricken' bites man! I feel your pain as I too have trashed a slide I now use it to try things on, still sucks...
  12. I would call midway have them send the missing bolts out.
  13. http://www.amazon.com/C-MORE-Systems-Serendipity-Standard-Switch/dp/B00D4L2G18/ref=sr_1_23?s=hunting-fishing&ie=UTF8&qid=1418242795&sr=1-23&keywords=c-more They have 1 in stock in each color 12MOA & 16 MOA serendipity for $96. What a DEAL. I don't need one but man at that price it is almost to much to resist!
  14. Shooter registration Thursday and shoot Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And this ^ but the awards always start late usually around 3pm after the protest period.
  15. Cool consider it sent. The Bedell I used flushed up to the rib on the barrel without trimming the muzzle. I don't mind but thought you would rather check it out. Email Sent. EDIT - the gap is actually .095 amazing what a caliper will tell me...
  16. I have a barrel I can send you if you want to take measurements and such. I know you have a lot on your plate but I could send you a 3 port and a 4 port to do the math on for the fluid dynamics model.
