  1. Excellent, Looks fantastic Henning, easy to see alot of design input, R & D and some late nights in that puppy. Much better styling than the other 2 straight triggers back in the early 90s. Easy to see it will have precisian perfomance to match its hi-tech appearance. Really compliments the euro style frame. The factory will sell more Tanfoglio's once this gets out there, hope your getting a nice kick-back!!! Well Done Lee
  2. How about a teaser pic Sinnsyk, smokey, partial or hazed like the car dealerships release, just so we can sleep properly :-[
  3. Hi all, I have had our 9mm refinished in hard-chrome and just re-assembled it ready for my 13 year old to take over the reins. Is about a 2001-2002 small frame model. Its pretty standard but has a tight fit drill-bit shank for the sear pin, modified reset leg, home made ultra thin cheaquered grips & Henning front sight. Runs quick on 160grn coated lead @ 127 PF and the factory fitted spring seems to give the best split times. Hope you like the pic! Lee
  4. Hi Downunder Tungsten milling cutters are fine, you will need a couple of 1/4" four flute end mills. The slides hard-chromed outer skin is around 70+HRc, harder than most knives and will sheer & chip your milling cutter flutes pretty fast. You need to get under the skin on the first cut. Textbook feeds & speeds won't apply here. Starting point of about 1000 rpm with slow manual feed on the table will get good results. Use plenty of coolant, you can feed the cutter in about .5mm to 1.00mm per pass/slot. Tilting head or vice to achieve the V configuration. Regards Lee
  5. Yes, I would take one maybe two, sounds like nice work, Thanks, Lee
  6. Darth, Put aside the titefit slide-pin and use your standard slide stop until your Tanfog is run in & loosens up. All the best Lee
  7. Hi Vernon, hope this helps, the hole shown is for access to a grub/set scew. It is fitted inside the guide rod hole, shallow spot machining on the barrel to accommodate the tightened set screw. Careful, not a lot of metal to work with in this area. Lee
  8. Try some Loctite 638, Its not always listed in Loctite catalogues and its not for threads but this stuff is serious. Best of luck Lee
  9. So what's the secret for tuning the slide stop? How is it done? chuckr I radius the 90 degree shoulder on the bottom of the slide rail and the same goes for the rear 90 degree shoulder lock on the slide stop pin. I'm not advocating anyone do this, I'm just answering your question Chuckr. Make's for a slippery machine should you ever run dry. Regards Lee
  10. I spend a lot of time tuning my slide stops to get exactly what you have for free! So long as it only does it when you really send the mag home, I would consider it a bonus. Its great to see that "what the #$%* just happened" on the R.Os face. Lee
  11. In the mid to late 90's, rumours were abound of shooters breaking the small framed combat length slide gun while shooting major in Australia. 1997 I asked the Aus Tanfoglio importer for a 9mm major gun & he supplied a Gold Team with long slide & heavy 3 port comp. The importer recommended avoiding 125gn in 9mm major and suggested a formula of 135gn projectiles, small rifle primers & enough slow burning powder to just break 175 PF. Did try many other 9mm major loads but for me nothing felt better than that original formula. I shot this for many years with no probs. It was really competitive with the 1911-38's of that era. Brass did not last long and I had to max out the overall length to exactly 29.65mm or 1.167'', any more & they nose dived in those older mags. With the new lower PF and your smaller EAA gun, I would be confident shooting major, but if you wanted to play it safe, maybe try heavier than 125gn projectiles. Anything heavier than 135gn may require pulling back to a medium or faster burning powder. 115's & 125's at 160pf or more will punish an old smaller gun. Regards Lee
  12. Hi Jim All custom frames I have viewed in Australia have had this cut from around 2002 on. I believe the factory cut allows the frame to flex during firing, soakes up the impact of the slide crashing back into the frame & makes the guns action/recoil feel softer, sort of a crude suspension system but better than none. Lee
  13. Edited to add....... So how does she shoot??? Thanks Neomet It shoots way faster than my shooting ability! Predictable dot jump at 165 PF, I will gradually ramp up the charge until it flattens out. Lee
  14. No worries Neomet, now done. Lee
  15. Sorry shooterbenedetto, the trigger is a hand made one off. It is profiled off the factory original, you could get a gunsmith to do this in 7075 aluminium or titanium but I would wait for Hennings, it will be better. No show gun benedetto, this is my 8th Tanfoglio and will blast away until my retirement. Lee
  16. We are limited to 10 round clips in OZ so I just use chromed factory mags with the laser cut. Regards Lee
  17. Hi Readers I finished building a Custom V8 last night, It is new but has been in the safe since 2003 due to me shooting Std divsion the last 5 yrs. Its taken a few months and personal touches include: Hand made 7075 aluminium trigger, Custom made X-large magwell, Internally lightend dustcover, (didn't want to cut it off) Custom made 6061 aluminium side mount, Set screw & keyed compensater, Chequered ambi saftey. Hope the photo's work Lee
  18. You could have a pair of Hennings or Tanfoglio grips machined flat if you are looking for that ultra thin "Caspian with just grip-tape feel". My Wifey's 9mm has had this done for extra small hands. Lee
  19. Bit new to this forum but if this works, should be a pic of my old mid 1990s war-horse, Regards Lee:ph34r:
