  1. Sorry to bump this old thread, but thought this would be of some interest.

I found this at a local shop and it's gonna be coming home with me :)

and i'm going to try to trade a gun (not the Nastoff above) with my friend for a Nastoff that he got in at his shop if he still has it.

  2. Man... I already ordered a STI Gun Smith Blank... I might have to install a SV flat trigger if it doesnt look good...

If I do what parts do I need to order ... do I need to order the triglide base or just regular titanium bow trigger base ??? I'll be ordering @ speedshooter.com

i just use the regular base since i'm not using tri-glide components.

  3. IIRC, you might have to make the slot (width) in the frame a little larger (or narrow the trigger shoe) to get the Infinity trigger to fit.

I'm getting a STI Tactical 4.15 next week and will replace the factory trigger with a Infinity ITS flat trigger.

haven't had any issues with my ITS wobbling in my Edge.

  4. i bought a pair of SA's and this started out as an older .45 hi-cap, and Springfield built it up to be part of a interchangeable slide setup with a single stack frame. the .38S slide is from a Custom SHop modified .38S mil-spec, and the 9mm slide was built by them (using a Nowlins barrel) by them as well. i haven't gotten around to making changes to the hi-cap frame yet.

  5. on a side note, a friend of mine give's me a hard time about using flat triggers, but the truth is that he shoots my 1911 (all with flat triggers) better than he shoots his Ed Brown. He even shot my Remington R1 better than his Kobra Carry.

  6. The theory of the flat trigger is a consistant trigger pull (feel) no matter where your finger is on the trigger itself. The trigger works well for me because my trigger finger is naturally at an angle (not perpendicular to the trigger face) and sits lower on the trigger. With a long curved trigger, my trigger finger is forced to the center and would get rubbed raw due to the angle of my finger. Flat triggers also worked well when i took a pistol class in the cold rain where i was wearing gloves. The length of the flat trigger is the same as the shortest part of a long curved trigger.

a friend of mine swapped his curved triggers out for flat triggers. Just a few weeks ago i went shooting with a member from another forum, and he commented on how he liked the feel of the flat trigger too.

  7. the basic R1 is ok for what it is, i actually liked it better than the SA mil-specs that i looked at.

The R1 barrel fit is much tighter than my friends mil-spec.

My R1 shoots better than his mil-spec, even after he got it back from Springfield for repairs.

The R1 is a Series 80 gun, so you have the FPB in there.

with that said, i would still go with a Trojan for a game gun.

here's a thread that i started on the 1911forum, with detailed photo's of my R1

and here's the initial range report.

and here's what it look like in it's current state.
