  1. I too have an STI Eagle with a Dawson front sight and a SVI magwell. I used it at the MS state match last year. I had just received it from Dawson and only had about 300 rounds through it, and had not tried it in the box yet. In the morning when it was cold and damp it fit in the box just like gun in the video. In the afternoon on the last stage where we started with gun in the box, it fit in the box without dragging. By then the air had dried out and the temp had risen 20 or so degrees. Oh yeah, that's my carry gun too.
  2. At my club you are in danger of too much information. Say you'd like some tips and a little help getting started and you'll get more than you can handle, but in a good way. That's what happens when the club match is at range that belongs to a handgun school and half the shooters are active instructors.
  3. Sounds like a grip issue to me as well. Have somebody watch you closely or get a video of your grip. I'd first look for non-trigger finger movement between shots which will progressively make your grip worse. Also look for signs of you clampnig down and slowing the slide with a finger/thumb dragging on it. It's been a long time since I shot my Para, but I do remember that loading rounds long caused them to stack in the mag. I seem to remember it was at about 7 rounds that the problem showed. Just throwing that out there...
  4. I'd rather they were safe than chastise for not holding the gun. Many people need assistance to stand or to keep their balance when bending over, bad knees for example. This scenario is alot better than the guy that points the gun behind him while he bends over.
  5. I use a SVI magwell and fits in the box, just barely... I'd go with the 40 if you reload. Go with the bushing barrel for IDPA.
  6. I have two springfields similar to that one, the difference is mine have fixed sights. They are OK, but they are a long ways off from my Trojan which is priced in the same range. If I had only known...
  7. Could be that the new mag springs are putting more drag on the slide. Try an old mag spring and see what happens.
  8. I have 4 older Para's that locked open early, a new plunger tube spring cured that, the factory springs were too weak. Looks like without the spring pressure on the slide stop there's nothing to kick the mag out, but stll seems that it should drop free.
  9. Try having your buddy press the trigger, you do everything else but have him press the trigger. You won't know when the gun will fire, Just watch the sights and see what you see.
