  1. There is a GSSF Match in Milwaukee that I'd like to shoot in October. Can you guys tell me what divisions I should be shooting in? I plan to shoot 1: A stock G17 - I figure stock division for this one? 2: My Production division G34. The grip has been stippled, and there are very few glock parts inside this gun. What division will I be shooting with this one? Thanks!
  2. Holiday Inn in South Haven, MI was $75 for Saturday night on Travelocity. It's an hour north, but I can drive an hour to save that much. It looks like the further you get from South Bend, the cheaper the hotel prices get.
  3. Just called them. Apparently there is a Notre Dame home game that weekend making all the rates go up in the area. This explains the unusually high prices. This hotel is $99 per night with a 2 night minimum. I think I'm going to look an hour or two north of South Bend and see if the prices go down. That or buy a $75 tent and a $10 campsite.
  4. I'm about to book travel arrangements, and it seems like hotels in that area are priced insanely high. The match hotel quoted me $150 a night. Is there a trick to getting a cheap room in the area? I'm happy to drive an hour in any direction if anybody knows a decent hotel at the $70-90 price range. The prices are almost double what I paid to stay in Peoria for the Illinois Sectional last weekend.
  5. Thanks Jim! I had a blast shooting with you guys, and learned quite a bit along the way. I always try to dial myself back a little bit at Majors because my natural tendency is to go as fast as I can and shoot sloppy hits. I really appreciate the words of encouragement. I'm just excited to see the scores.
  6. I had a blast shooting this match yesterday. The stages were a lot of fun and the match went off without a hitch. Thanks to Chuck and the match staff for all their time and hard work.
  7. Thanks! That's good news. I'm originally from Oklahoma where your cleats weight 10-15 pounds about an hour after it starts raining.
  8. Anybody know what the range surface is like? I'm planning on shooting saturday and it looks like it might rain.
  9. I find it hilariously amusing to see what people on gunbroker will claim is "set up and ready for IPSC competition." Also, the prices are wildly amusing if you're used to seeing good deals on competition equipment here on the forums. Occasionally you'll find something pretty cool, but most of the time it's like 10 different guys dumped all their random aftermarket crap on the floor and then started bolting it to anything that it would fit. I have to fight the urge to PM sellers and ask what they're thinking every time I do this, but it's almost always good for a laugh.
  10. That's pretty sexy Jesse. How does it run, and how does it track compared to your G34? I'm sort of on the fence about whether to continue with my Glock habit or to sell my G35 and my Bushmaster to fund a S_I gun.
  11. Clocked 3.6gr solo today in 70-80 degree weather(god I love this Wisconsin summer business) and got an average velocity of about 950fps coming out to 139pf. My Dad said he clocked the same load in Oklahoma last week and was coming out at 805fps. I'm guessing it was between 90 and 100 degrees there at the time, maybe even hotter. Does this sound like something else is going on or is Solo actually that temp sensitive? I'm baffled.
  12. Hopefully you guys are right and something else is going on here. I've really like solo besides my little issue at A5. It's way less smokey than Titegroup behind the cast lead bullets I shoot. 3.4gr at 1.125 OAL chrono'd at 132.5pf(right around 900fps) for me when I tested before the match, and they came in at 122pf at A5. I'm shooting J&K Hardcast lead bullets out of a G34 with a lonewolf barrel. I've since bumped the load up to 3.6, and I'm going to go chrono today in the middle of the afternoon. I'll report back afterward.
  13. Brad, Have you e-mailed Chuck? I sent him a couple of questions and got replies to both within 48 hours. His contact info is listed on the online entry form here
  14. Just an update here. My dad clocked his loads with his Shooting Chrony and his new $200 CED chrono side by side and there was no variation. I apologize to the nice people who make the shooting chrony as the problem does seem to be with the reverse temp-sensitive nature of solo. He moved the load from 3.4gr to 3.6 gr of Solo, and with the increase in temperature(closer to 90 degrees now, and the match was around 80) since the match, even the new load came out right at 124pf. I'm going to load my match rounds at 3.7gr for the Illinois Sectional, but those should be around 140pf come winter. Bummer.
  15. Thanks to everyone for the info. I managed to come up with 120 more rounds that were in my "crap" box because they wouldn't chamber check in my LWD barrel but they checked just fine in my stock barrel. I should be good to go for the match tomorrow. I'll call Dillon on monday. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something common that required a simple fix. Thanks again! Robbie
  16. Shameless bump to get this thread to show up on the front page. I'm insanely desperate right now.
  17. The outer sizing ring on my 9mm carbide sizing die just came out with a piece of brass. Is there a good way to put it back in or is the die just busted? I was in the middle of loading ammo for a club match tomorrow, and if I can't fix this die I can't shoot it. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks. It looks like this
  18. alot of stuff is just basic, that you already know to do, like tring to go one for one on the steel, look like some of the stages you could have been shooting steel but ran past them, but I am sure you had a good reason for doing this. Thanks Sean. Yeah, better accuracy could definitely help. ProAm is kind of weird because you're trying to shoot as fast as you possibly can without missing, but you only find out how fast that is after you cross the line and miss a shot or two. I'll work on that for sure. Exactly. You don't want to do a standing reload only to have 1-2 targets left before you have to move to another position. Thanks! I'm going to find some video of Bob reloading. I've never noticed the little flick, but I'll pay attention and try to make that movement smoother and more efficient. Does anybody have any suggestions for quicker/smoother movement between positions?
  19. I'll be there. Anybody have any idea what the stages will be like?
  20. Nothing? I know plenty of you guys are good enough to point out all kinds of things that I could do better.

I shot my first 100% classifier last month at Ripon! I'm PUUUUUMPED!!!!! It moved me to 73%. A Class here I come! The illinois sectional match is August 21st. I'm getting ready for it right now. My main focuses for training prior to this match are reloads, and entering/exiting positions. I'm trusting that those Illinois gentlement are going to set up some good field courses that will allow someone who has smooth movement to burn through them. This should be my last match as B class. Here's to taking home a trophy.
  22. This one posted at 100%. I'm PSYYYYCHED!!! I'm sure that will be a low-mid A-class score next season, but I'm still pretty pumped abou tit.
  23. I could use some pointers on which aspects of my shooting need improvement. Please tell me what to work on, and if you have any drills(especially dry-fire) that correspond to my weakenesses, let me know about those too! Thanks in advance!
