I always come to the dance late. I shoot, or have shot, all Glocks in 9mm. After all the bouncing around I've come home to the Glock 19. I changed out the Glock sights with a set of night sights (not adjustable elevation). I love the 19, carry the 19 and compete with the 19. I have a good friend who uses the 17 in the same way I use the 19. He prefers the 17's sight radius over the 19. We both left everything besides the sight stock. He's a Master class shooter with his 17 and I'm a C class shooter with my 19. My practice is the matches, he reloads like there's no tomorrow. My recomendation is to save money and, when you have the $$$ saved, buy another 19 set up like your current 19..Simply one backs up the other and there are few if any suprises.....Oh, the finger grooves were added for the sole purpose of importation points against the BATFE scorecard so you'll have to go to the used market and Gen 2 glocks (at least I think it's the gen 2's) to get away from the finger groves. ...The crappy Glock adjustable sights were also for importation points.
