  1. Oh thank you, that is huge, not that I would have showed up a day early which wouldn't necessarily be terrible but if I didn't have the extra day at the motel... LOL
  2. I don't mind the slight off-topic, its all information about the range. If someone that goes to the 2 gun nats wants to report in on the golf cart situation after the fact, I'll allow it.. :-)
  3. On the subject of Golf carts, I own one, do they have any rules about outside golf carts? I am not a pansy, but I do have 11 screws and a plate in my ankle, and no vicodin to help if I over do things, so I am teaching myself I no longer have anything to prove. ...Especially If I need to be prepared for all weather options...LOL. Good information so far, thanks.
  4. The CO/PCC nationals are in Talladega, Alabama this year at CMP park from the 14th to the 18th of October this year. I am registered, but I have questions, and rather than pester the MD personally, I figured I would ask here and hopefully the answers will be helpful to anyone attending that has never been there before. I am driving this year, but last year I flew to Nationals, so for the fliers, what is the airport situation in the area? Is the the basic scheduling is check in/look around is on Thursday the 14th, then shoot Friday the 15th through Sunday the 17th, then awards, etc. Monday 18th? I have a choice of AM, PM, AM or PM, AM, PM - 5 stages per day. I guess this boils down to morning person or not, but are there other reasons to choose one set over another? What kind of weather is typical of Alabama in October? Should I still be planning for heatstroke mitigation, or needing extra layers or below zero morning followed by 80 degrees, what? Range cart or golf cart to get to stages? Follow up, are things like a cart mounted umbrella required, a good idea, unnecessary or verbotten? Other than the match, is there anything else in the area that I should not miss? When I am choosing my accommodations are there any areas that one should favor or avoid? Anyone local to Talladega want to chime in?
  5. I reset it to hidden, wonder if that will work. I'm trying not to get my channel deleted
  6. I wonder if it might be drastically over-sprung? Is hammer bounce (or whatever it might be called) a thing on an LDA?
  7. I have had the best luck installing a "Tanker brake" style comp on my 9mm AR's Basically you are looking for flat, baffles that are perpendicular to the bore to get the most sound. The ones I went with are $20 or so on fleabay, and even come with a jam nut. As far as the haters go, I started shooting USPSA when there was only Limited and Open. Some guys were still gutting it out with comped single stack .45's and tasco red dots, then Tangfolio and Para Ordinance hi cap guns started showing up and once the owners got them to run, there was no competition. As an open sight single stack guy back then, I HATED shooting against the wondernines, but I was OK because my .45 scored more points. Then .40's started getting popular, and as a pretty good compromise between capacity and power factor, started whooping ass. Pretty soon after, USPSA came up with the Provisional Single Stack class. And then there was Limited 10 and all of the variations that came after, most of which were invented to try to level the playing field because some places limited magazine capacity or because someone had this cool gun that they wanted to shoot but didn't quite fit the rules. Nowadays, there is a class for everything in its own little niche, and that now includes PCC. PCC really annoys open shooters the worst because of the perception that somehow they are easier and thus displacing the open shooters from their rightfully purchased position at the top of the heap. NEWS FLASH, it's not easier, its just that many of us that shoot PCC have practiced ALOT with a carbine, and practice beats a big wallet every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Its funny, because the CO shooters seem to have squeaked in and don't catch nearly as much grief when someone with a $500 gun beats mr "I paid $4500 for this gun and $150 each for the mags". In my neck of the woods, its PCC and CO that vie for the top spots and open guys HATE it. I will leave you with this, PCC isn't NEW, its just that we now have rules for it: Me shooting a PCC in a USPSA match in 1997 almost 25 years ago.
  8. Okay after quite a bit of a delay there are three Fire HD 8 on the way. When I ordered them apparently I neglected to uncheck the Box about "associate with my account", so I have questions about the order of operations when I set these up. I intend to take the device advice from a few posts up, but the simpler I can make these the easier I think acceptance is going to be from my more recalcitrant fellow shooters. Obviously I'm not going to leave them registered to my personal Amazon account, but I seem to remember from setting up my personal one that I have to have some kind of an account on there to be able to download practiscore. That is unless I can find or get a link to just the raw APK so I can sideload it. I think it would rather not have any internet-connected account of any type on here once I put them out, to forestall any Mischief, intentional or accidental. We have an internal only range Wi-Fi setup, and then to upload to practiscore after the match we connect to one of our phones hot spots, do the upload and then shut off. So any other advice that anybody wants to give me on exactly how to set these up from scratch that would be awesome.
  9. Okay, here is the slide. Also, while taking these, I noticed that most of the time I could also cause the hammer follow just by pulling it to the rear and releasing it.
  10. I have an original p14-45 LDA with a trigger problem. I have 2 slides, and with the original it is 100% flawless, but with the replacement (also a 14-45 LDA factory slide) I am getting what would be in a single action trigger bounce or Hammer follow. 3 to 4 times in a magazine the hammer follows and despite the name the LDA really isn't double action. I know LDA slides are cut different than standard 1911, that's why I asked specifically sought out what that is presumably identical to my original. Right Now, my original slide is in, being cut for an optic, so I can't compare them yet, but I figured I would ask if anybody else here has had some experience with LDAs and might have an idea of what I should look at, because I have no clue where to even start.
  11. I have no idea I don't have anything to test it with. Obviously SF is not top of the line but it is the optic that I have in hand, and in todays age of "out of stock" thats worth alot...
  12. Ok, Josh, Should I PM you here or go through your contact page?
  13. They told me "NO" for the optic that I own (swampfox). So, now if I want Primary Machine to do the work, I have to try to find ANOTHER red dot on their approved list, or take my chances.
  14. Ok, so its 2021 and the gun market is stuck on stupid. (no offence to anyone in the market, you know what I mean.) So, I have decided to have a 1911 slide milled for a red dot - don't worry, its only a Para-ordinance, nothing nice or collectable. What I would like is advice on the Best - Cheapest - Fastest matrix for this project. I want the lowest possible mount, so I am unwilling to use any type of adapter plate, I just want my slide directly milled and tapped for the optic that I have (swampfox liberty) and I don't care a bit about the irons. So, rather than pick a place randomly off google with no idea if they have a crazy backlog, crappy workmanship or horrible customer service, I figured I would come here for advice. So where should I send my slide?
  15. Well I brought my own personal Kindle Fire 7 out to the range yesterday and we performed every single function that we normally do on the iPads in parallel on the Fire and it seemed to work perfectly. Actually two of our scorekeepers mentioned that somehow scoring on the iPad was easier or nicer. I'm not sure what they were looking at but I'm willing to take yes for an answer. Thanks for the advice about the generations also, I didn't realize they had transitioned over to USB C but that is a good point of retaining a power plug that will go in either way. So I think I'm going to try to bring up to the club officers this weekend and get approval to by the Kindles. Thank you everybody. So does anybody have any advice on how to set these up, like whether to make a separate Amazon account for the club or just use mine, what software I may need to take off, excetera
  16. Okay my problem is my indoor range uspsa club has three old iPads that are so old that we can't upgrade the ios and load the newest practiscore. So my club voted to buy 3 new ipads, and I got voluntold to make this happen. So I looked up ipads, and then we (almost) lost 2 club officers to strokes when i told them the prices. So, yeah, now my task is to come up with 3 cheaper options. Right now my Front Runners are a couple of Kindle Fire 7's for scoring and a 10" for sign up, since they are both currently on special and just dirt cheap. We only operate matches at our Indoor Range so we don't need a water resistant option, but any drop will be directly onto concrete so some type of impact resistant option. So with that background, am I on the right track here? Are the "previous version" Kindles new enough to be able to load practiscore without any problems? Is there any meaningful difference between the way practiscore is loaded or operates on a Kindle compared to an iPad? Am I going to have to do any retraining for my ROs and scorekeepers? And was possibly my most important question, are there any gotchas involved in this that I haven't thought of? I mean it seems like this should be a pretty straightforward thing, but I figure I'm going to get enough push back switching from iPad to Kindle I would just as soon not have any technical problems also.
  17. That's great and it was a lot of help but I load for several calibers that don't seem to be included, like 7-30 Waters, 6.5 Creedmoor, 458 Socom, and 45 Raptor. So are the powder funnels all exactly the same between the 550 and the 750, so if I already have everything required to load on a 550 it's just a matter of transferring the dies and the powder drop funnel?
  18. So I took the plunge and bought a 750. It came set up for 45acp. I also purchased the case feeder, 6.5 Creedmoor conversion, lr, sr, and looking plates for Casefeeder. And then not even having taking it out of the box yet I realized I've already messed up a little.. since my press came with 45 ACP, I believe to convert to 6.5 all I needed to do was buy the powder drop, since I believe it's the same case head. So I go looking around for the caliber conversion app to find out what specific items I actually will need to buy in order to load the calibers I want on the 750. Only to find out that all of the ones I find don't seem to cover a 750 specifically or several of the calibers that I currently load. So I know Dillon is stupid busy, I tried to call them up and go through part numbers, but The Tech Guy simply didn't have time to go through part by part with me on the phone, and I understand that. So what I'm looking for is either updated spreadsheets or an updated app or some manner where I can do this research myself, or feeling that someone who knows alot about Dillon 2 work with me to sort out the same thing. Basically I load for a dozen or so calibers on a combination of Square Deal B and 550 (rifle cals), so I need to decide what calibers I want to move over and start loading on the 750 and what resources it will take to do that. For example I don't load near enough revolver rounds, 38 357 44 and 45 Colt justify getting conversions for the 750 so those will stay on the Square Deal. So any help would be appreciated, I can post up a list of what I already have but I didn't want to seem like I was just trying to get somebody to do it for me , LOL
  19. I am going to disagree (-ish) on the swage-it. Its a wonderful product, and I own two, in fact one is installed on the press next to me as I type this. I have used one enough to have worn it out and bought a replacement. All of that said, the only way that really makes sense is if you are going to go with a full bore case prep setup, with a universal decap and swage it , a FL resizer, and a (motorized, dillon) trimmer. If you are processing large amounts of machine gun brass or unknown brass then that makes sense. If your rifle brass supply is pretty static or mostly once fired commercial, you may be better off with just the Super Swage or even just a reamer and a Lee trimmer if you dont get much new to you once fired .mil brass. I am doing the same as you (ish) but I am setting up my (old) 550 as a dedicated case prep station and intending to load on the 750... I also 100% agree on a light kit, but I prefer the ones that stick to the press and not the toolhead for 2 reasons. #1 everything comes unstuck at some point, and the ones on the toolhead get jostled more, and could bugger up some shells or be buggered by them depending on the timing. #2 I find LED lights to be a bit harsh, and the combined angles of the light, the brass, and my eyeballs was uncomfortable when the LED was shining straight down. You aren't going to see down into the case with rifle calibers anyway, so you are better off adding a powder check die than planning on visual verification.
  20. Well, that is a typical "I really don't want to mess with this" answer, however tightening up a .22 is not terribly difficult. The trick is going to be getting someone else to do it (and care about it like you do). *MY* solution has been to buy a "parts gun" and then use the parts to repair the gun I wanted to keep. Look up on Brownells for the schematics of your particular gun and many times it will give you how many other models share the same components. The reason for the parts gun is so you can work on the extra parts as a replacement or as practice for working on the real thing. Its also very often MUCH cheaper to buy an entire junk gun or a parts gun than to buy 3-4 replacement parts from Nurmrich or Sarco... I chose to use it as a way to learn all about my gun, and thus when I take it out and shoot, I know "I did that" https://www.gunbroker.com/item/884689574 https://www.gunbroker.com/All/search?Keywords=H%26R 22lr&Sort=13&PageSize=96 First take it apart (carefully) and clean the heck out of it. Take lots of pictures so you can reassemble it. You may find that the reason it was loose is a spring is all gunked up and not pushing or pulling properly. Feel free to message or email me if you have any specific questions and I will give you any information I have.
  21. No OEM magwell, and the bottom of my frame is flush. The problem is that I only have the short mags with the folded sheetmetal basepads, so I cant use the drop in magwell that does not require frame cutting because then my mags won't seat. Now is not the time to try to find all new mags especially for a style of gun that has been discontinued what, 3 times now? I havent seen anything yet on GB, Kens or Heavy Armor, I havent gotten a response from my email to Cheely. I am actually considering trying to find a steel, pin on style, and then cutting my frame and welding it on. That seems like a rather extreme choice, but it does solve all of my issues. I am still holding out hope that someone has one of the old school S&A full magwells sitting on the bench or in a box, and sees this thread...
  22. Ok, I have determined that I have a "long frame" RIA in that mine came with the folded steel basepads and as further evidenced by the fact that none of my non factory basepad mags will seat in this gun. According to TF I will need to cut my frame to accommodate their magwell and basepads (because all of my mags are the short style and I don't want to trash them and buy new). This is familiar and not unexpected as both of my Smith & Alexander magwells required the frame to be cut. Are their any guides online for this? Apparently my search terms were too vague for google/youtube to produce anything useful.
  23. Whole lotta 2011 magwells, but no love for Para. Well, I did find this, but its out of stock... https://speedshooter.com/product/cheely-custom-para-remington-insert-magwell/
  24. Ok, I am at a bit of a loss, my go-to Magwell Smith and Alexander seems to have stopped making them for Para-Ordinance hi-cap frames, at least according to Brownells. Then I tried to order one from EGW, and between when I put it in my cart and when I went to check out, they went out of stock and disappeared from their website. Frantic searching other sites has not turned up anything useful or available thus far. What I have is a RIA 9mm/22tcm combo gun that if I could fit a magwell on, I would like to use occasionally in USPSA, but I have been looking at gunbroker for another LDA (hicap). Literally, the only thing I have found is this thing on fleabay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rock-Island-Armory-OEM-1911-A2-Magwell-Double-stack/274345924853?hash=item3fe04a98f5:g:sC0AAOSwqDheoili So, am I just out of luck for a real one? Should I have stocked up? How much work would it be to modify a STI style magwell to fit a PARA frame? Help!
  25. What model? What is wrong with it? Does it have sentimental value or are you trying to keep it original?
