  1. I had a ? this AM for the number for the Tukey Sight I was told by a different Guy that the part number is 17031 Here is Edna's contact info Edna Perez Product Service Rep O.F. Mossberg and Sons, Inc. Authorized Service Center 1001 Industrial Blvd. Eagle Pass, TX 78852 1-800-363-3555, ext. 534
  2. After carefully weighing all my options I decided to spring for a second bbl. 24 " unported Someone above posted to Ask for Edna She was great and got it taken care of ASAP. Thanks for the info Still looking for Follower details. THX SWandME
  3. I ordered my first 930 Waterfoul today w/ 28 bbl I have read every post I could find and looks like I will cut the bbl @ 24 and do the chokes and a little polish and smoothing inside. and open up the loading port. Still need advice on the Follower manipulation please share you pros and cons. Also I talked to the CS @ Mossberg and they have the Turkey Gun adjustable rear sights available for under 15.00 that snap on the rib. Any thoughts between that and a Ruger 10/22 Rear sight Dovetailed into the Rib. Thanks in advance for your help. SWandME
  4. I got the recipe He uses the Rem Gun Club Hulls so they are easier to keep away from the shot shells. 1oz Lee Slug Mold 24 Grains Universal Clays Clay-buster 1100-12 Std 1 oz wad Standard Star Crimp Pure Lead no additives 1440 FPS from a 30 in 870 pump I have not chronyed them from my 1100 Tac or Saiga I load all my Shot Shells on a Dillon 900 SL and It would be inconvenient to load slugs on there He uses a Mec Junior I was a sceptic at first and your milage may vary but they work well for us.
  5. Believe it or not My Buddy Jeff, the self proclaimed TiteWad Started to cast his own Slugs and I laughed at first and now thats all I shoot. It is a Lee Mold loaded in a standard Hull. I have tested them even in my Saiga and 1100 Tac and the Benelli they were the best accuracy of what I have tried Fed Tru Ball, Rem, Win and Briley . Give it some thought and less than half the price. SwandME
  6. I have not tried the Vectronics as I know better than to tempt myself. The Garage, while nice only has a SINGLE bed I do not remember the Beam divergence but it was the same as the New Leica 1600 One other note is the fantastic battery life with one 3 V CR 123 battery No count but thousands of ranges and I found it works best in the Scan mode so I can concentrate on holding it STILL I used a rest or tripod most of the time I am a Pro Photographer so I have a nice lightweight Carbon Fiber 4 section tripod Gitzo G1228 MKII with 468MGRC2 Head I really like. Hope this helps Dan Any ?? feel free to call 715-367-1144 _________________________ swandme@me.com 715-367-1144 Thanks Dan
  7. Thanks for the tip What do you shoot now ?
  8. I will get to do some low light testing soon I will post the results THX for sharing the interest .
  9. Follow up on LRF We tested more big money Glass and found the Steiners to win Hands downs We added Leica 15 x 56 LRF binoculars RTL 2999.00 Swarvski 7 x monocular Brand New Leica CRF 1600 mono. here is the deal. The Steiners are able to range man size non reflective targets easily out to 1100 yard as tested many times over the past weekend at Ft. McCoy WI during the 3 day match held there. The man size textured targets pop up and have to be ranged by your spotter and you need to calculate the holdover and send the round down range. ( BTW Jake & I took first place ) Sat and second on Sun. The Steiners could also range the hillside @ 1427 yards every time and surrounding bushes and trees with ease. And last but not least the further hillside @ 1850 yards and treeline out to 2027 yards WOW . 2499 the next best are the Leica CRF 1600's and those can reach respectable distance on the man targets with a few ties out to 1087 yards and occasionally the hillside @ 1427 but never the 1800 or 2000 plus 799 We tried both the Leica 15 x 56 LRF 1400 new and the first gen 1300 and found them by far the most expensive @ 2999.00 and the worst of the pack. In the early morning hours durring some light mist they would not even read the reflective range signs @ 400 yards. ( The Steiners were not detured by the mist and read body targets @ 1087 yrds and the hillside @ 1427 yards. While the Leica 15 x 56 LRF's are poor in the range finder department they are the CLEAR winner in optics Quality far above even the Steiners. the Swarvski @ 999 are good out to about 800 yards nice glass but the reticle is way to large to key in on game size targets. If you NEED to know the range I put my money in the proven 1600 steiners. Hope this helps SW and ME
  10. Great with the details and fast payment

  11. My Son will be going to College @ Michigan Tech this weekend and you got to love a school with an indoor pistol range in the Student development center Many of the guys who helped put the match together shoot there. I will plan to come up over the fall & Winter to shoot with my son. Dan
  12. There was even a PRIZE table Very nice side benefit: It was by Drawing and a 15 or 16 year old won the grand prize a AR piston Kit from Adams Arms and second was a 100.00 gift card and a few other small prizes. We had a ball. My favorite stage was the long range rifle I finished second behind MSG James Eagleman who clearly kicked my but @ 41.6 seconds compared to my 67 but he is a Sniper by trade and not to forget they had the scores available by the time we helped brake down the stages. The hard work and organization was appreciated. Drew I did get a bunch of video with the POV cam it will be a week before I will have time to even look @ them
  13. Questions I have had : Yes the Round Count was posted prior to the match and the stages were sent out by email to those who pre registered. Every thing came off without a hitch. : )
  14. WOW YOU missed a GREAT match , what a set up !!!!! 6 challenging stages. One of the best matches I have been to, and to find the quality of props and design in the middle of nowhere on a beautiful day was fantastic. Wall with windows, door activators swingers , color match plate racks a car , a life size and weight partner you had to drag to cover , a roof to shoot from for targets out to 300 yards. with other long range steel not to mention a great group of competitors and they served up some great burgers with all the fixins and a beverage for 5.00 in addition to a modest match fee of 20.00 . The course was a thing of beauty, well planned and maintained throughout the match by keeping a Permenant RO @ each stage and a Traveling RO that shot with the squad. I will hope the guys plan another match soon . Hats off to all who had a part in making this a great time and only two hours from home . well worth a four hour drive like I have for Holmen . The Club with a spearhead by the ROTC group did a fantastic job of coming up with a fun shoot. I will not miss it for next time . Dan Tomasoski
  15. PLease help me find the Best Long Range Laser Range Finding Binoculars For the past two weeks when ever I had the chance I have been testing some high Quality Laser Range finding Binocs. I have to test : Leica 15 x 50 RFB Newcon's LRB 3000 Pro 7 X 40 Steiner 10 x 50 model 398 LRB I have tested them until I am motion sick after hours of looking and ranging . So far Each one has strong points but no Absolute stand out in the crowd "Got to have it" favorite. I also have a pair of the Leica 10-15 x 50 Duovid's for clarity comparison. My Observations so far The Leica's have the highest power and the best target selectivity as well as fabulous clarity and the best resolution especially in the shadows But fall short of the other two in the Ultra long ranging ability. Body size targets are ranged consistently out to 900 yards and larger targets 4' x 4' cardboard out to 1300 ( the stated ability ). Other strong points includes tripod cradle and superb quality and durability. The Steiner's have my favored combo so far with great optics but only 10 power, And Consistent ranges to the tree line @ 1750 yards. We tested a number of signs and power transformers as well as the tree line. These are the stand out on non-reflective targets like ( Our Buddy Jake in his gray t-shirt and his 4'X4' cardboard. ) They also share a plus with the Leica with Smaller more precise Red LED Reticle and Red LED Readouts in both yards and Meters. The Newcon's are the least in price, but on reflective targets like brown forest service roadsigns ( with reflective paint ) They were the fastest and gave great performance out to 1914 yards. The Steiners also were consistent on the same sign just to an extra seconds. The Leicas were a NO GO . The low point for the Newcons in the LCD display which can be seen well against a bright back round but very had to see in the dark shadows of the tree line and could not range it at all . The build quality is not even close the the other two competitors, these are more plastic than rubber and a small amount of glue could be seen oozing out from the seems in more then one place. They are not waterproof ! All that said as range finder only for the money the do quite well. Optics quality was up from some other Newcon's we have tested, and with only 7x40 were lacking a little power to reach out and be more selective of your target. Finally We tested cars driving away @ 60 plus MPH and The Steiner and the Newcon were able to follow SUVs traveling away from us on the HWY . until the disappeared over the hill @ 1835 yards. Looks like the only other contender is the New 1600 Yard Leica Monocular to use as a companion to my Favorite Binoculars. We will try out a pair next week. PLease add your personal field testing as well, so we might come up with a winner. THanks Dan
  16. Lots of great info Thanks I am going to try the DRY Dan
  17. What is the best lube for the 1100 gas system area and anything up under the hand gard ? What do you like for lube in the Action area ? Thanks Dan
  18. This sounds Great can you post some pics and details on the install. I have a couple 10/22 bbl around from target bbl upgrades that might have some sights. Thanks in advance SWandME
  19. My 1100 Tactical needs help to put the slugs in the right place. What kind of sights do you like best for your ShotGun for all purpose 3 gunning including Slugs . Ghost ring Ect. Photo's if you have them. Thanks SWandME
  20. I finally made up my mind. I Needed stippers for HM and TO so I bought Six 4 rounders and two 6 rounders and put three 4 rounders on each rig and I can Add a 6 rounder around the side at the hip where it does not restrict movement for bending. So with 9 in the gun @ the beep I have 18 more along for the ride. 27 will get me though most stages and I have an additional 18 rounds I can carry on a shell belt if needed. plus I put a 2 round safariland in the front so I have a round to top off the tube once the chamber is full if we get to preload the shotgun and happens to be the first gun I shoot on the stage. I use one of the 2 round Safarilands on my open rig as well so I can top off the magazine after i put one in the pipe before the beep. I used this set up in Holmen last Sun and It worked out great. Thanks for all the insight. SwandME
  21. I have gone back and forth and can't decide what to use 4 or 6 round strippers for the SG I can usually load 4 without dropping one . I shoot Tac Ops with a 1100 Tac and HM w/ a Super Nova no pistol grip on either so far . I have been loading strong hand by rolling the gun to the side . I have tried the Week hand load and it does not feel natural to me . Any advice and video clips would be great. SWandME
  22. Just picked up a couple of the LR 308's in 24 SS bull The first 308 is a tack driver. today w/ the Custom comp 168's and 42.2 2520 3 shot @ 100 = .33 in but with the Rolling thunder brake installed. Thats the good news Bad news is function is less than 70 % The I am getting FTF bolt sticks open 1/8 in and To get it out I have to smack the but stock down on the bench and the weight of the Bolt extracts it . I checked all the rounds that were stuck and most of them passed the dillon case gauge. there was a couple that stuck out the bottom .0005 from the high platform. The Fired cases are rough as well . I did manage a few rapid fire stings but overall not good. The chamber is rough as a cob . What is your advice on chamber polishing ? The Second one the chamber is so rough I only fired 3 rounds 2 of them had the rim pulled off so I had to knock them out with a cleaning rod. Should I try to polish it or send it to DPMS I am afraid to ask them quessing the will want them back and screw up the Accuracy on the good one . What Say you ..... ? Re: DPMS LR308 failure to extract [Re: kilo7788] ajwarrior Private First Class Registered: 03/26/10 Posts: 3 Loc: Atlanta, Georgia JonF has given me solid info and advice on my lr308. Like kilo said they do require lots of oil in the beginning and yes some polishing may be necessary. Just make sure your lr is cleaned well and super wet. And more creds to kilo for advising on the DPMS forums, have been on their forums for a months now. I am not the original owner, so I am unsure of the break in or care of the rifle, prior to my owning it. I will clean it again thoroughly and look at getting an adjustable gas block... and inspect the chamber as best I can, I need to get the appropriate tools to remove the barrel... I may just turn it into a 7mm-08, I'd just like to get it functioning correctly first... Stuck cases, bullets jammed into the throat...I eventually decided that it had a short throat that caused excessive pressure and the function problems. I returned the rifle to DPMS for repair. They said they had feeding problems and replaced the magazine. I had never had, nor did I ever report any feeding issues. Funny thing is that the rifle now works like it should. I suspect that they fixed the short throat, and simply couldn't bring themselves to admit to a quality control issue. Rather than admit that their throating reamer wore out prematurely, they appear to have fixed my rifle and lied about it. I no longer have the rifling engraved on bullets of rounds that have been chambered but not fired. Whereas I'm happy that the rifle runs normally now, I am very disappointed in being treated like I'm too stupid to recognize that they fixed the precise issue I complained about. It makes me not trust them anymore. You might want to check for a short throat...my rifle also ripped the rim off cases that were stuck in the chamber before the rifle was returned...it hasn't happened since I got the rifle back...what would you think? Top #1721303 - 03/28/10 06:57 PM Re: DPMS LR308 failure to extract [Re: chpprguy] CDAT Lance Corporal Registered: 12/30/06 Posts: 37 Loc: Texas chpprgy, FYI and consideration, I had the same issue, extractor ripping case rims off, with my DPMS LR 308. However, it would only do it with reloads, never with new US made or US MilSup ammo. I installed an adj gas block and started using a small base resizing die on the cases I reload and shoot in the LR 308, After that the problem went away with one exception. When using Federal small based sized cases it would still sometimes rip a rim off. I have been told that Federal brass is soft (could be an issue with your brass/ammo also)and I may not be getting a true SB sized case when I process it. The alleged brass softness may have been affecting the rate and amount of case spring back, causing the case remain sealed to the chamber longer after firing. Now I only use small based sized LC and Win Brass when reloading for this rifle. I was also told, when I purchased the rifle, that DPMS 308 chambers are on the small end of the tolerance scale. : DPMS LR308 failure to extract [Re: sinister] gunfrog Private First Class Registered: 01/10/10 Posts: 3 Loc: Northern Virginia I had the same problems with my DPMS 16" 308 AP4, tried all the fixes: polish chamber, adj gas block, heavy buffer, AR carbine buffer tube and spring, moved gas port to mid length, and various combinations. Had some improvement but still had issues. I built another one with 762 chamber and it runs great. Got me thinking so I finally checked the chamber in the problem gun and it closed on the no-go gauge. So I sent it off to very knowledgeable gun smith, to get the actual chamber dimensions and have it reset to 762. Still waiting on its return. Will advise. Suggest you check your chamber with a set of gauges. All the early DPMS guns of this type where made in 308, now DPMS only offers it in 762. They used to offer a 762 reamer to improve reliability with surplus ammo. They no longer offer the reamer, nor will they redo a 308 chamber to 762, based on a phon con I had with them about a year ago.
  23. Does anyone know for sure what load the Noveske team runs in the 308s Also what muzzle brakes Thanks Dan
