  1. So, with a CR speed belt, the inner belt must be the secured one, & with 3 loops would be the most common way?? Would the CR mag pouches have hold the mags perpendicular to the belt, with the first one being at the hip bone working backward for prod and SS. I'm just trying to verify what i have read in the rule book and comparing it to what i see at matches. May be looking to make a purchace. Thanks for any responses in advance
  2. I was talking to Flex on the phone about this exact topic the other day. He brought up an excellent point. If you just try to have a solid performance through all the stages you can sometimes be slow on the time. Your turning in solid performances but not at the top. You still have to attack the stages aggressively in your movements. A good example Flex gave was SmittyFl's performance at the Florida Open Match. Not only did he win the match but he got after every stage. You can tell because he got the most match points for the win but also but also got such a high percentage of the availiable match points. Just a great performance. Basically you can have a solid performance on every stage but still not be at the top. You still have to attack the stages. It just a fine line how far to push. I quit thinking about "burning a stage down" and try to visualize being smooth and aggressive in movements but still calling each shot. This has been difficult to do. The more running and shooting I do the more my shooting used to go to "just see brown and shoot". This is probably its own topic Flyin Please correct me if I am wrong "Not only did he win the match but he got after every stage. You can tell because he got the most match points for the win but also but also got such a high percentage of the available match points. Just a great performance." Are you stating he aggressively went after every stage, as fast as he could, but shooting all A's to the best of his ability. Kinda slowing down just enough to dance the "fine line." This would be how he achieved th high # of and % of match points??? thanks in advance
  3. If you are going to load three or four calibers and replenish 600-800 rounds/month, the 550B will easily handle that volume and your investment in caliber conversions will be less $$$ than the 650. Thanks for some concrete advise, it will handle the round count (for now, i cant see it going up past 1000 but that would just be the summer months / all winter to stock up) and with the 4 potential calibers, the conversions would be more cost effective. Plus, i am not a mechanical genius, and i hear that when the press hick-ups, the 550 will be easier to get going again for my IQ. I have always got the lee back up and running, and a Dillon is a superior machine.

    CZ P01 BUG?

Fantastic choice for a bug gun. It shoots and feels exactly like its big brother, and some say they shoot it better. The double action first pull is a little long and could use a trigger job to smooth it out. Also makes a great carry gun, light, points great, holds 14+1, and easy to conceal. Good shooting to you.
  5. Same for me, over time the IDPA "dictates" or rules have taken some of the fun out of it. It seems to me that they take a lot of the thinking out of it also. The majority of the local matches seem to be a bunch of robots (by division/magazine) shooting stages exactly the same way. Never been to a major match , just some state matches where the stages were a bit better. Another turn off is the "soup Nazi's" as we call them based on the Seinfeld episode. No ____ for you, one year. It just seem I hear the word "no" a lot. Still keep shooting them though. Support for the shooting sports is essential.
  6. Call me ignorant, but you use this after you tumble and clean your old brass, to ease up the process of reloading it. Does it then have any advantages after the round is finished, or just the potential disadvantage of being to "greasy" if used in overabundance. I just have reloaded 9mm. It sounds more like a rifle thing? Carbide dies have eliminated the need???? Hoping to learn, thanks
  7. I load 9mm on a lee 1000 now (please stop choking and read on). I know and will buy a Dillon in the next month, plan on starting to load .45 with it and getting a full caliber conversion for 9 in the future (can load 9 on the lee) if money is short at purchase time. Further down the line i will want to load .40 and .223. With all that said, there will be some caliber conversion going on. I know multiple Dillon's will be suggested, but for now with the money situation, thats the plan. 550 or 650 / Which way do I go???????? Thanks in advance for help!! I shoot about 600-800 rounds a month live fire.
  8. Thanks Jack. I guess like everything else in life , balance is the key. Determination and hard work will ultimately earn just rewards. I will try my best. I used to really "try" on classifiers. The results would vary, hero or zero comes to mind. It ended up moving me up in class to Master rather quickly. My stand and shoot skills far outweighed my field course ability. The end result was I got my ass handed to me at every big match once I was a Master because the classifier type stages are important but won't win you the match. All around consistency on every stage gets you a better finish. When I go up to a classifier now its just like any other stage. I don't try to burn it down to get moved up, I just want a good performance that will factor in and help my overall score. Say a 40 point stage and you burn it down, you beat everyone by 25%. You gained 10 match points. If you mess up and get some no shoots or mikes you could easily only shoot 40-50% of the winner and stand to lose 20pts on a stage. So what are you chances of being able to burn down a classifier type stage on demand vs. having problems and zeroing a stage. For me I'll zero a stage more often than burn it down because I'm trying to burn it down and shooting consciously instead of subconsciously. My advice would be to not worry about classification, just shoot each stage the same whether they are a classifier or field course. Looking back I will say getting moved up so quickly and getting my butt kicked motivated me quite a bit to balance out my skills so I won't say its all bad. Flyin Sound like a solid game plan that keeps you in the present, instead of the potential future, or the past (which is over and done with) Pratice makes perfect, or as close as we are capable of, I guess. Thanks guys!
  9. Not precision delta. These are dry lube coated lead bullets. They claim no leading, no copper fouling and no messy lubes for the barrel. Anybody have any experience????? I'm looking to load some cheaper rounds for practice. ($63.33 per 1000) These may be the answer if they aren't garbage Seems Berry's goes up every day. Any other options out there?
  10. I have a "real" mental problem with classifiers and now that I've read what you wrote above I can add these worries in my head while I shoot one also. I liked it better when I just could not verbalize what the problem was !!! Thanks alot !!! Great, now I have new baggage to lug around in addition to 1000lb range bag!!
  11. Thanks Jack. I guess like everything else in life , balance is the key. Determination and hard work will ultimately earn just rewards. I will try my best.
  12. Do classifier stages cause people to choke? A month or so ago, I observed a shooter who did not shoot up to their capability on the one stage in the match that just happened to be the classifier stage. Smoked the rest of them and won almost every one. Could it have been a fluke, sure. Somebody else mentioned a "term" that i cannot remember to describe the performance. Wouldn't a shooter want to do their best to jump up in their classification? I could compare it to someone being satisfied as a triple-A ball player, and be the star of the team, instead of riding the bench in the majors. I'm not judging, just wondering why it MAY happen. I guess with more experience and more matches, my feelings may differ, but i don't think so. Thank you
  13. Thanks CMV, i found that thread after i posted, rookie mistake. Thanks ebg3, after all the responses, i think i will buy it and shoot if for a while before making any final decisions on the finish. Plus, i can get some additional mags and worry about paying for the finish later. Thank You
  14. Please help, what is the i bond all about. I read and hear about it, but don't know any particulars or who would be recommended. I live in northern IL.
  15. $300 option. Looks great and prevents wear. Are there any other positives and I'm sure someone will have a negative point? Would I be better off spending the money on additional magazines? High class problems!!! Thanks for any input in advance.

  18. Tom will treat you to a informative and fun day out for your first match. Dress appropriately as the weather will be nasty, have fun, and i guarantee you will be back for more. Lots of USPSA and IDPA in southern WI and northern IL. See you soon. Mike
  19. Weapons silhouette is what Jim Cirillo use to call this in his training courses over the years. He would actually tape up the sites and make you move out to different distances and see, when and where, you could use the technique of the slide as your site, and get good hits (not necessarily our A-zone every time) Cover center mass with the square of the slide as the site while focusing on the threat. Depending on trigger control, its fast and accurate for a self defense technique where you hit center mass until the threat is nullified.
  20. I have been reloading 9mm for almost a year now using Berry's bullets and now have met a seller who swears by Ranier's. I am a "if its not broke, don't fix it" guy but people swear better performance/accuracy from the Ranier's. I am also going to start loading .45 and would like any input there also. (other brands of bullets included) Please & Thank you
  21. If i was going to save up for a future purchace, and wanted to cover all my bases, how does the purchace of a STI Eagle in .40 sound. I could shoot if IDPA ESP as well as USPSA Limited and L-10. I already own a 9mm CZ 75B for Production / IDPA SSP and a 1911 for single stack / CDP. I know that i should concentrate on one division at a time, but just to change up for a match occasionally would be different and motivating. The more we can shoot, the better life is!! ______ OR IS THE "EDGE" THE WAY TO GO AND FORGET IDPA ESP???????_____________
  22. Thanks for the responses, someone told me that Blazer ammo would not be wise, as it has quite a kick, and is good protice ammo for self defense purposes. Any truth to the statement?
  23. What would be the softest shooting factory .45 load for single stack, untill I start reloading .45? Also, do people shoot .45 in L-10 or would i be at a huge disadvantage. I own a single stack 1911 and would like to compete in multiple divisions. A club near me shoots a match throughout the day, and if i get there early enough, i could shoot it twice, SS and then L-10 with 10 round mags. Its a long ride. Thanks
