    He can also polish/shape that LH feedramp while it's there I believe.

    Trigger is is hard but crisp. Very impressed.

  3. Depending on how many rounds the action spring/buffer spring has seen, it might be sagged out, think minimum length is supposed to be 10 1/16" and new one is around 11". If spring is not worn, then most likely your gas post in the barrel is oversized, as manufacturers tend to go with larger than necessary to avoid complaints of malfuntions with weak ammo.

    The forward ejection is not ideal but not a problem either. Folks like the 3 to 4 o'clock ejection angle as it shows the system is balanced. If its something you really want to achieve, a heavier buffer is the easiest fix. Cheapest solution is to buy extra tungsten weights and substitute them for the steel ones presently in there. If you have a front sight base, forget about an adjustable gas block, think its too much work, but an adjustable gas key is another option. 

    Unless its a competiton carbine, where you are willing to fine tune for more points, being over gased is a plus in the sense that you less likely to have issues with a dirty action.

  4. Cannot see how it would as the bullet has left the barrel by the time the bolt unlocks from barrel extension. Heavier buffer might slow down that unlocking but how could it impact bullet velocity?

    Hyptothesis is based on concept that increased friction leads to faster wear compared to lesser friction, all else remaining the same.

    In the JP FCG trigger pull weight depends only on the trigger return spring and hammer spring, as another poster mentioned, and a heavier trigger pull requires stronger springs, creating more pressure between the contact surfaces of hammer and trigger. More pressure leads to more friction.

    I suspect difference in wear is only theoretical, as JP uses really hard steel and surfaces are kept well lubed w grease. No change in my trigger pull over thousands of rounds and dry firing cycles.

    Also not arguing, but curious as to why lighter would "wear" first?

  6. How long a fire control system lasts depends to a large degree on choice of steel, heat treatment and lubrication. Pull weight should not have any practical effect on durability. A good quality adjustable system such as JP might lose engagement with long use, so you are right that resetting engagement would give it new life, where as a non adjustable system might need to be replaced if engagement wears away. Would take many thousands of cycles w a quality unit.

  7. Wow, that is a deal, assuming one likes the ATSR1 reticle. The red dot is fine, just don't care for the open spaces, seems very imprecise at distances greater than 100 yards. Could be wrong as I have no experience with this reticle.

  8. Surprised no one mentioned the Burris RT-6, which was recommended on this site a while back. Based on that recommendation I purchased one and am pleased with it. Check out the reviews, and its back in stock again, after Burris held up distribution due to some issue.

  9. Checked my Pro rear sight, 1/16" is the correct size, so PO probably rounded hex set screw. Yeah, MM's idea of a Torx jammed in good makes sense, but would heat set screw to break down thread locker by touching a soldering iron to it for a minute. Try a T-6 or 6.5.

    BTW, rear sight is in a bag, as I replaced it with a Warren with cut away corners and U shaped notch.

FWIW, I ran a thin line of white paint, some of it on on front of rear sight which continued on top of slide, so if rear sight is moved right or left, the line becomes discontinuous, to confirm rear sight movement and give a very rough estimate of how much it moved. Then used depth gauge on digital calipers to get more precise measurement of movement, measuring from side of rear sight to side of slide just below it.
