Well that's interesting. I picked up a Platypus as an IDPA gun (also just really wanted one) and was considering porting it. Comping just isn't an option on my gun, but ports are easy.

I'd port it for sure.  The only thing keeping me from spending the money to add ports to the XC is one of the head Smiths at Staccato says they sometimes cause jackets to peel, especially on plated bullets.

  2. I run an XC and it's pretty darn flat.  But I shot a guys P a few weeks ago that had 6 or 8 barrel ports and it was MUCH flatter than my gun.  It felt about like a true open gun.

I'm just finding out about this and I'm having a hard time believing it.

One of my local clubs (I'm a member at almost all of them) asked the uspsa match director for a list of everyone that has been DQed from every match. He asked them what they wanted that for because he would have had to figure it all out. They replied that they would give the list to the state police so if anyone ever had to use a firearm for non sporting reasons they would be labeled unsafe to use/own firearms.

When I first hard of this I didn't believe it but was told that another club in PA was doing the same thing. Then proceeds to tell me of a story of a guy that got into a lot of legal trouble because of it. I don't think I should post those details here.

One has nothing to do with the other.  If it's true, it's ridiculous.

I get to reverse a shoulda woulda coulda,,   I left a boat I enjoyed, working for a company that was good to me to do what I thought would be near same situation for 25% more money and things didnt work out, have bounced around several companies all paying the same higher rates,, only to have my life put in danger, be lied to, and thrown under buss by bad management.  Generally wishing I had never left original company.

well got an email and just signed an offer from company I left,,, wondering if I was available right away.   Yep still at a lower pay,, but you know , money isnt everything.. Quality of life and lack of stress can make up for alot. Having an Army pension that pays ALL my living expenses makes me pretty flexible...

Any way wil have a set month on month off schedule, no more bouncing around, and can actually plan a hunt or some travel ICORE shooting matches.

Yes I agree, double dipping is awesome!!

  5. I had a grouping issue with my XC.  They changed the barrel link and put in a new slide stop.  It still doesn't shoot as tight a group as I'd like, but I also have my suspicions about the DPP.   FWIW, I don't notice any issues during matches, only trying to shoot groups off a rest at 25.

As just a shooter I'd also rather have a physical stage. To me memory stages are a lot like being at work.

If a major involves somebody chasing after dozens of shooters on a track meet stage, or it is a local on a hot arse day, I think the griping is an earned privilege.

Why even bother with even having the 'sprint to avoid a hard shot' part?  If the fast runners can't shoot accurately, that's a weakness in their game and they deserve to get hammered for it.

This is after all, a shooting sport.  People that want to run a marathon and shoot a couple dozen rounds can shoot run-n-gun or Combat Ninja Games if they like flipping tractor tires in between shots.

^^^this for sure.  If I want to workout, I go to the gym.  I don't need to run a 5K, wear a plate carrier and all that other stuff when I shoot a match.  If you want to take it easy, shoot IDPA, if you want a lot more movement, shoot USPSA.

Host organizations - meaning the club that owns/runs the range - can pretty much ask anyone to leave the premises.  If the host organizations asks you to leave and not come back, under penalty of trespass - or if they want to forbid concealed carry on their property, they can.

Being a USPSA member won't save you in that instance.

The one exception (in Texas) is the signage businesses use to keep licensed carry holders from carrying on their premises, does not apply to off duty or even retired cops.  Of course this has nothing to do with USPSA/IDPA rules.  Just the law.

So if on duty LEO’s, FBI ect show up you are required to disarm them? Not joking.

On duty to watch and hang out, no.  If they are getting to shoot the match while on duty, yes.

Howdy y’all from the Yee Haw state , I just joined the forum today.

I am a shooter and a competitor and I shoot all kind of sports like Cowboy Action , World War Military guns, IDPA , USPCA, PCSL and Steel Matches.

I have been reading Brian’s book and decided it was time to join this group and learn from others 🤠

Welcome!!  But I don't think we are hick enough to be the Yee Haw State.  I'm guessing you were not born here.....

As they shouldn't.  There is no magical force field around the range's parking lot.  It's not practical to stop on the street just outside of the parking lot to square your carry gun away.  It's common sense to park and secure your gun inside of the vehicle or go inside and have the RO/SO unload you.  Let's remember than 3gunners do all kinds of gun handling at their vehicles with no rule issues.

I will add that castle doctrine does apply to actual law.....just not the rules of the sport.

Castle doctrine doesn't apply to a shooting club allowing you to shoot their match or not.  They could DQ you just because you showed up on a 3-wheeled motorcycle or drove a green car and state law wouldn't care.

Realistically discreet gun handling in the car is not a problem and nobody goes looking for it that I've ever seen.

Another issue, there is the law and there is what happens in court.

Example, a local guy was driving home from the bar after having a beer. He was under the legal limit. A man stepped out in front of him and he ran him over. From witness testimony the most logical assumption was the man was committing suicide by car. He walked out of dunkin donuts, turned the opposite direction of his car walked to the side walk and steeped directly in front of the on coming car.

The driver was charged I forget the exact charge. Judge said something to the effect of he couldn't help but wonder if there hadn't been alcohol in his system if he could of done something differently that might of resulted in not hitting the the guy. Dude was convicted and went to jail.

    Dude had a crappy attorney.
