the xc is 5" barrel and then a comp, or 5" with the comp/port?  i'd think just slightly shorter than the xl but with a comp/port, the xc would be the flatter/softer one, but guess not.

THe XC us a 4.6" barrel with a single port comp to make 5"

Hi, any rec's for a red dot for a staccato c2 3.9" 2011?  i want something with a bigger window than a rmr but i do want a 'shake awake" feature as this will be a nightstand and sometimes concealed carry handgun.  i really like the triji sro on my 5" guns but will this 'overpower' a smaller gun (plus it is not shake awake)?

So, my CS which didn't cost me anything, came with a Holosun on it.   It has shake awake and the window is plenty big for a carry/duty gun.  And the dot is very crisp compared to my DPP.  When and if it breaks, it will be replaced by the RMR HD.

Would like to see what you guys have done to really get that support up to speed with gripping the gun at an acceptable firm hold. I always find my support hand is not always squeezing and when it is, it’s not enough.

are there workouts to increase strength in your support hand or is it something overtime I should be doing in dry fire to constantly grip harder and harder with my support.

Unless you are just really weak, you probably have the strength to grip it properly, you just have to "think" about doing it while you are thinking about so many other things.  If you do strength training, don't use wrist straps, make your grip do the work.  If the gym isn't your thing, get a sledge hammer and pound a tire.  That will help too.

  4. So I had an enlightened moment today.  I've been shooting nothing but Staccatos for the last three months in various forms.  I received my XL today, a 5.4" 9mm variant.  It shoots so soft, I actually prefer it to the XC which is a 4.4" comped gun.  I will give actual weight numbers, later, but the dot never moved out of the A zone.  It was amazing.

  5. Received my 5K cases this morning and it looks amazing and brand new.  I've never loaded brass that looks this good!!  Can hardly wait for my next loading session!!

    Thank you!!

The slight benefit the dot provides in that situation is far outweighed by the hassle and inconvenience of lugging around a big heavy gun with a dot on it all day long.  If that's my only option, probably in most instances I'm not even going to bother because it's such a PIA.  Also, from a legal standpoint, if you're at a distance where you really need a dot for accuracy, then you're almost 100% better off getting out of there vs engaging the threat.  And in many states, that's actually what the law requires.

Not all dot guns are big and heavy these days.  The CS I'm carrying at work is 22 ounces and lots of folks are carrying the little Sigs or G43x that is even lighter.  While I agree, most shootings are gonna be so close, no sights are used at all.  If you find yourself in a active school shooter situation, you may be glad you have the dot for a 75 yard shot.  I was brought up with the saying, better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Naw, you didn't include it because it added context to my opinion and your smart azz comment wouldn't appear as funny.

I shared my opinion without the need to crack a joke on anyone, you on the other hand seem dead set on getting everyone to agree with your opinion so you can feel better about it. Does this forum have an "ignore" feature?

It does.  You just keep on moving to the next thread.

i don't think i have ever even reloaded for 1 hour at a time, lol. I suppose during football season i sometimes put a game on and crank out a few hundred rounds. Maybe i have more free time than most people, but i never have any trouble finding 15-20 mins to load enough rounds for a match. I often reload while stuck on a conference call, watching a sports event, or waiting for mrs velo to get dressed so we can go somewhere.

I think shorter sessions are better anyway.  Anything over 500 rounds is almost hypnotic.  While I've done plenty of longer sessions, my new preference is 500 and done.

Anybody recommend a lightweight athletic boot for run and gun . I see a lot of ankle height high speed shoes, but have not seen anything with 8” height

I'm a big fan of the Salomon Forces Middy.  I wear them quite a bit at work and during the cooler months at matches.  They have Gortex and non-Gortex models.

I only had 4 upside down primers (Using an RF 100) and 0 crushed over a recent batch 16K using mixed brass on a Dillon 1050 with a mark 7 aurodrive. I do pre process my brass via roll sizing, decap, swage, Dillon size, and u-size before I load.

I see no value in separating primer insertion into its own step unless you are a low volume PRS shooter.... or a commercial reloader.

Can you come tune my RF100?  LOL  I just got it back from Dillon and while it will get them up the ramp now, I still get about 1% upside down.

I completely process my brass before reloading, de-prime, size, roll size and clean. I then sort it for my favorite head stamps and set aside WCC/WMA and the crimped ones for if I ever got that desperate. I load in batches from 2-5K and also prime everything separately, I hate when I get a primer screwup when loading.

    That is a long process!!

This. I think to a lot of guys reloading is a second hobby to shooting… Sometimes a primary one with shooting being secondary. I’m not interested in that at all.

I certainly don't enjoy loading ammo.  I'm just so ahead of the curve with loaded practice and match ammo, that I have time to experiment.  And the crimped primers have been a PITA.

I can buy factory ammo for about what my rounds cost me, but it wouldn't be nearly as good a round.  I looked at Atlanta Arms yesterday and their ammo, which is comparable to mine, is about 60 cents a round.  About double what my rounds are costing me.  I just bought 5k prepped cases from one of our vendors.  Living the good life!!

Well, some people on this board are of the opinion that you should never clean your barrel.  Aside from that, I've seen some really, really crazy stuff related to guns over the years.  So, not much would surprise me in that regard.  Also, keep in mind that OP's knowledge level is to the point that he came here to ask this question, which is kinda telling.

Funny you should say that.  Schueman (sp) used to say the only thing he put down his barrel was bullets.  I questioned that on here way back in '08 or so, and I quickly got my head chopped of for questioning his idea.
