I go to gunshops occasionally with no real intent to buy. The fact is that I am looking for very few specific things right now and most places don't have what I want. That doesn't stop me from spending 45 minutes looking at stuff.
Me too (that's how I discovered the HK94 I wasn't looking for one, really) but this guy wasn't looking at anything and just stood within the same spot the whole time I was there.
Like Sig Lady said...sometimes it is just a gut feeling...
Maybe he was with BATF and was investigating the shop or observing their process. <shrug>

Cool, I didn't see all these pics.
Man, that was a cold day.

Funny skunk story: Thread drift but worth it.
A relative and his wife had a pet skunk. Apparently, the pet skunks have some sort of gland removal surgery so they can't spray. These two insist that skunks are very affectionate, and named it Kizzie. So we all thought they were pretty weird, but OK. So one day, his wife sees the skunk outside the screen door. Odd, because they never let it out of the house. So she picks it up, and it scratches her and jumps down. Very strange. She goes "Kizzie, what's wrong?" and picks him up again. He scratches her again, jumps down.... and sprays her point blank.
Not Kizzie.
... and to add insult to injury, she had to go the hospital, explain why she was trying to pick up the skunk without mentioning her illegal pet, (think about how to do that for a sec) and get a rabies shot.

She's on "Family Feud" and he's checking to see if she got the #1 answer.

WOW, 21 pages of threads to catch up on from 3 days....won't do that again.
What's your favorite breed of dog?

Named for Zane Grey, Bridge that looks like a "Y," Conn's potato chips. That's all I know.

If you've already done everything else, then your options are:
1) Surgery
2) Live with it and hope it goes away on its own if you try to avoid the things that hurt.
Option 2 works 80% of the time within 1 year for all comers. Recycling through therapy after therapy is expensive and the therapy techniques are highly variable.
There is no magic treatment.

I have actually read several books in this field as I am an avid astronomer.
also, for further info there is a book by Phil Harrington, called "Starware" I think, and is pretty much the bible of binos.
Ditto what Kyle said, same reason. I have 10 x 50 Carton Adlerblicks which are about as big as you want to go without image stabilization or a solid mount. "Star Ware" is good, or "The Backyard Astronomer's Guide" has lots of great info - Terrence Dickenson. A really expensive but great Bino (according to the book) is a Canon 15 x 45 Image Stabilized.
The best test of optics is small bright dots on a black field (stars). The quality of the glass and the precision of the optics is very important because irregularities cause really bad things to happen in that setting. Therefore, binos good for astronomy will be awesome for terrestrial viewing. Key points:
Objective lens (light amplification) over 50 is heavy.
Divide lens by optical lens to get exit pupil size. That's how much light is going through (50 / 10 = 5 mm). It should match your pupil - the bigger the exit pupil, the more light gets in, but it's wasted if your pupil is dilated (over 40, pupils more dilated = smaller pupil size) and the light hits the iris.
BAK-4 Prisms good. BK-7 (Barium Crown) prisms are cheap.
Fully Multicoated reflects the least light, so transmits the most through the lens. This is most important in astronomy with seeing faint objects, but more light = good.

Just shoot them and let the classifications work out however they work out.
Put in solid runs (as opposed to hero or zero) and you will move up in match standings.
Is the hero or zero approach to classifiers the wrong way to shoot them ?? I guess this would depend on what you are trying to do in regards to your percentage. I know that some classifiers are very difficult for lower class shooters (myself) to score well on due to the very high hit factors. I have been leaning toward the hero or zero but I am not sure if this is the right approach.
Depends on whether you want your highest possible classification or a classification that reflects how you typically shoot. Hero/zero would do the former, Flex's suggestion is the latter. The "lower class shooter" argument is circular.

I want to put a vltor rifle stock on my gun instead of the 5 position vltor that is on there now and was wondering what kind of weight it would add vs a A2 and ace and the 5 position one I have now.
At this point, he could do this thread some good and answer his own question.
So?

In a local match, after If clear, hammer down, holster, I did holster. I the proceeded to pick up my ejected round before locking my CR Speed holster, and my gun hit the ground when I knocked it out of the holster with my thigh.
Since the "Range is clear" command was not given yet, it was technically during the COF and is worth a trip to DQ.
My mistake, lesson learned. Lock holster before picking up round.
My gun has never been dislodged from the holster when the holster is locked. I don't move with the holster unlocked.
Hope that helps.

Wilsons 10mm work great for me with 1.135 OAL AND 1.185
Tripp (old style) 10mm work great for 1.185 and PRETTY GOOD with 1.135. When the mag is full, the gun is dirty, the round is short, and the stars are aligned wrong, it doesn't quite feed the 1.135 as reliably as I like (still perfect for long load). I could probably work on this a bit and get it totally reliable by doing something to the feed ramp, but since I should really be using 40 cal mags with spacers for the short rounds, I wouldn't necessarily call this a flaw.
Basically for the loads I usually shoot, they're both great.

All - I'm going to send the Commander from Hell to Benny Hill for him to unscrew. I'm also in the process of relocating to the New Orleans area. Are there any legal problems if I send him the gun from one location and have him return it to me at another one? Rationally, the gun is returning to its owner so there shouldn't be, but we're talking laws here, not reason.
TIA!
My uninformed guess:
As long as it goes back to you, probably OK. If you move to a different state, has to go through an in-state FFL.
But I'm no authority.

I have to ask.......what is your next project?????
He's gonna seamlessly weld it all back together.
With a match.

Slight drift, but what camera did you use? Those pics look great, esp the one with the knife.

I need to get you a bottle of Basil Hayden as a late wedding present. Your shelf looks empty without it.

Gamer...Yes Sir I is.
Speaking of Gamers, and I really hope he reads this post. You should have seen Lin running a couple of stages! Stage 3 where it said hold bag in weak hand, well most of us shot SHO, he just picked up the bag and held it in his weak hand and shot freestyle. He then tried to get both steel on stage 5 before the drop outs but wasn't fast enough and caught a procedural for that one.
Stealth Gamer = a gamer who doesn't share his game plan with the rest of the squad...

Just got a new Dell. It came with vista and macafee. I have a surf board 4200 USB model plugged into a USB port. I've talked to 4 Dell techs, that was an experience, I've also talked to my local provider's techs and got no where both times.
Here is my issues. I can get online, obviously, but its like my internet will drop out for some reason. I'll be surfing along then I get the error message, "can't open page" or what ever it is that says it can't go there. After I refresh a few times it pops up. Its a major PITA and not acceptable for a new computer. I spend 6 hours, no kidding, 6 hours last night trying to get this thing to work. Something esle weird that will happen is that if it can't go to the web page it opens google with the exact address I just typed!!
I'm lead to believe its either my modem or macafee. I can get online so I'm doubting the modem issues.
Disable Macafee and see it it works right....
I would if I could find the off button!
Does macafee have a little icon in the bottom right corner, you can hover over, right click and get some options to turn it off?

The movie (redux) was an adult twist on a kids movie. I wouldn't recommend it for kids.

Back in January I started working with Wilson Combat on a group pistol purchase for the Rangers. The pistol markings took several months to come together and we started placing orders in July or so.
I placed my order (for a light weight Professional in 38 Super) which shipped on Wednesday night.
OK, it should be here on Thursday......right? Its always overnight shipping on guns, right!! WRONG!!
I tracked my package and learned from WC that UPS now allows them to use 2 day shipping.
So, now its Friday and the long awaited day has come!!!! I mope around town all day, waiting for the call from my FFL. After the usual time passes, I check the tracking number and learn the shipment was delayed and won't be here until Monday. I know it is the weather but it still makes me sick!!
Does this sound familiar Sethmark!!
I feel your pain. UPS not delivering on Saturdays is one of the great tragedies of waiting for guns/parts in the mail.
