I've been quibbling with myself over this one for some time now. Mostly, I'm trying to train myself to ignore the FO, except when first acquiring the sight picture. But it's tough--the brain tends to pay attention to certain things. I think the fact that I've invested money in the FO sights is mostly what keeps me from going back to black.

Well...maybe not with my carry guns.

These are all great tips. Thanks. But in IDPA, I'm not sure I find many opportunities to reload on the move, given the use of cover rules. Any tips, there?

I've started doing this to deal with my cross-dominance issue. And I'm liking it! It's really nice to see the sights lift and return to the same exact spot every time.

You guys talked me into it--I'm gonna try this.

I've tended to settle on a similar technique as well, especially the part about using just the tip of the index finger. I feel like I can really tune in on controlling the break that way.
