They are GREAT barrels still! The no love comes from the latest and greatest crowd who is fickle at best. I recently bought two of their barrels through Brownells and both will shoot a bit under 1 M.O.A. with good loads. Fulton Armory also is a distributer of their barrels.
See you at world Shotgun?

That's what you get for moving out to "Green Acres" Jesse, you have lost all your ghetto skills like cappin with your 40 rollin in your 64!

The S.O.F. matches were all surprise and blind stages. It really separated the walk through kings from those who could react and scan. It was also a better test of field accuracy as one couldn't "dial up, or down" before the start of a stage. It is funny to me that the real good shooters tended to gravitate to the top anyway, and it was a BLAST!!! So in a competitive context I think it is a good thing we are bringing some of thinking back to the 3-gun arena!
As for the physical challenges....meh....I came to shoot not drag dummy,s, or rappel, or the myriad of other stuff that seems to get thrown in, but if it is part of a stage, AND DOES NOT overshadow the shooting part....I.E. the running time far out weighs the shooting time. it is ok.

And now all we need is a jig to WELD the A5 back together after it breaks at the front of the receiver! It won't shoot B&P slugs AND it's POI is off. Least with the spaghetti slinger it was only one problem
-
Good to know, thanks! Guess it is just another example of how it isn't as much of a "game changer" as purported.
-
I'd be more concerned that B&P slugs don't run it. The very few Brownings I have played with all ran those just fine, but every shotgun is different. I.E. My old M1 doesn't really like to run with more than 5 B&P slugs in it, and yet my "newer" M1 will.

Ahh, I got it now Pat, thanks.

I guess I'm just thick....I don't get it. Say I'm running my beloved M-14. If I'm zeroed at 300 yards, I know I'm 4" hi at 100 yes. I'm 6" hi at 200, dead on at 300 and 12" low at 400, what does a big piece of paper with 4 different groups give me that I don't already know? And why would I need that on a cell phone picture? Not trying to be " that guy", but I really don't get it.

I'd call M.O.A. Precision and talk to Tom about your options on making it easier to load. You can find them in the vendors area. He can walk you through the steps to make it easy to load.

Medic AJ check out my original post. You don't need an extra long punch.

Too much Booker's...double post.

So well spoken, so poorly typed! ( like I'm one to talk, hehehe). Here is the dichotomy of small steel plates....like Mr. T so aptly points out!!!
We accept a bullet that breaks a perf on a paper target no matter how minor the "perf break" on HUGE scoring zones. On a much smaller steel plate we say a bullet/shot that performs enough energy transfer to "move" this little tiny plate.....I.e. MUCH MORE THAN BREAK A PERF ON A MUCH LARGER SCORING AREA PAPER TARGET.......A .. MISS????? A spun target has been HIT!!! Might even be a good hit depending on the base design! That is why ALL the targets being discussed ARE ILLEGAL IPSC TARGETS!! Jesse and I completly agree!!! A Spun plate called a miss is B.S.

Ooooo la la, now your doing the French mistake wha la!!! From Blazing Saddles!
And about that LLama.....does it have a set of your chaps as well?

Easy 308 man. We will sit at a cafe in Italy and enjoy a " rule session" talk over some nice Italian beer, and all this will just melt away! It truly isn't worth arguing over. Anyone can interpret a rule set any way they want when the governing body is not directly involved. As for who is right and who is wrong I'll just say my meager understanding of the rules says Canadian beer is the best in this instance.
-
I'm thinking that a Canadian shooter, who has always shot under IPSC rules and competes regularly in IPSC shotgun matches may have a valid point. It didn't come across a sour grapes, it came across as experience, but I wasn't there so I'm not sure. The target sure looks "outlaw" to me given my very slight exposure to the IPSC rule set, as for the rest, it is about what I expected.

My support hand is holding a beer at the moment, not near a sling. Take this to a P.M as it will bore Tigerman and next thing you know he will want to name his pet LLama "Trigger".
-
Just cause you are girly enough to name a Buckskin "Silver" don't project your slightly effeminate ways onto others. BTW my P.R.C.A card was issued in the 1000 number range, around the time you were wearing plastic chaps and twin cap pistols.
-
Thats what I would do. I only know of 3 guys who use a ching sling in competition, and one of those very rarely. Of the other two, Kurt Miller is one of them. There are a couple of good tricks to set up and use. I'd get hold of Kurt
There are several real good pictures out there of an AR set up right. I know they have been posted here on ENOS. Might search under iron sight rifles and Kurt Miller. I know Zak Smith over on demigod has one of those pictures on his history of 3-gun rifles.

Results can be found ?

That can't be "incorrect"!! It was posted on the internet. Come around Tigerman.....geesh!!!!

Ace Hardware, and Napa Auto parts. Accurate Iron also has it.

We will both be seeing you there amigo!

Hey Tom.......Graphite!.....same as a C mag form the Beta Corp. With this little tidbit they run like a watch, even with monarch ammo. A puff every 10 rounds or so. We run them in the full auto guns with nary a hitch.

My daughter and I shot 5 pigs under night vision and I.R. laser with suppressors.Transition drills under "green light" !!! 458 SOCOM for me and a 16" 308 for her. Screw this 3-gun crap........CARNITAS BABY!!!!!!
Creating targets which then create another rule
in Multi-gun Rules / Stage Design / Match Administration

The spinner is just such a target. we made the spinner, then folks found out that heavier bullets and shot charges worked better on it which got taken to the ludicrous. what with Prairie Storm shot shells 3" magnum turkey loads etc. Now many matches have a new rule on what ammunition can be shot at this target, and yet you can still use this same ammunition on far steel etc. We now have "target specific" rules.
Now this isn't just limited to shotgun, I know lots of folks who make sure they have the hottest, heaviest ammo they can run for both pistol and rifle. so now instead of just getting a bunch of ammo ready for a match we now need to take a bunch of specialty ammo just to be competitive, because of a single target design.
Now I know this target has many supporter, who say it is great because it needs heavier loads. Wouldn't we have been better served by a ballistic pendulum that has to be moved so far? Then there are those who say it is great because it teaches patience and timing (I'm not sure how that relates to action shooting, but ok), but wouldn't we have been better served by having a set time you have to shoot the shots at say every two seconds and the one closest to breaking the shot right at the time gets the most points?
The spinner isn't the only target system like this either, just so you don't think that this is a rant on the spinner. Disappearing targets also are a target that required "a special rule". since you can't shoot it at rest, there is no penalty for not hitting it.??? How about steel plates that can spin, New rules for those as well
When coming up with new target designs I think we should be asking ourselves is this a good target for any and all applications and will react the same for every shooter or will it generate another page or two of rules
