  1. Was that Julie Goloski you're referring to? I noticed she does that a lot shooting single stack on her youtube videos.
  2. who sells frangible bullets for reloading?
  3. These videos are really clear, even on youtube. What kind of video camera are you using?
  4. The biggest problem I see with your setup is that the press is too clean. Put it to work!
  5. I feel confident enough w/ 15 clicks from fastest draw on the tension knob.
  6. Ok, I have to chime in here... I bought the holster after reading some great reviews, and overall I agree with most of what people said - quality of construction, broad range of adjustments, etc. I like the holster overall and would recommend it, but I'll just mention what I see as small negatives in contrast to all the positives mentioned. What was not mentioned was the placement of the screws on the inside of the holster. The yellow (brass?) screws hold the plastic inserts that are in contact with your gun's trigger guard and I think they are too close to the surface of the plastic for comfort. In fact, I think one of the screws is actually rubbing against my trigger guard after the plastic wore down some from practicing. And is it just me, or does the fact that the front of the trigger guard rests on a screw (brass I hope) when holstered makes it a bit unsettling? That screw (and all the other ones inside) can easily be countersunk into the plastic by design so it doesn't touch the trigger guard. Also, I'm currently using my 1911 with it, and after a FEW DRAWS it was rubbing away the finish (black oxide) badly on the trigger guard. Another thing that bugged me was the placement of the socket (part of the ball & socket joint for total 360 degree holster angle adjustment). It pressed hard against my leg to the point of discomfort when I positioned it to my draw angle. YMMV.
  7. I had the same problem when I replaced my Kimber's stock trigger for a C&S short curved trigger. The problem didn't show up during dry fire but showed up during live fire to the point where I have to manually reset the trigger by pulling on it. The problem was that the bow was rubbing against the magazine. Flexed it out a bit and it ran fine.
  8. I was at an indoor range one day shooting my 1911 and this guy came over and said are you shooting .45? Here take this ammo, it's giving me blisters. He gave a box (40 out of 50) of Double Tap ammunition, .45acp 230gr 1010fps. 232PF.
  9. Well, just checked today and masterblasters' website is officially down.
  10. LoL, kindly share with the rest what you told me, Mr. 03k64, how you felt when you first opened the box...
  11. bring a rag for wiping down the feed ramp every other stage. Also,it may sound scary, but bring a band-aid. I cut myself once on the aggressive checkering of my mag release button because i was too excited/nervous during a stage and it really sucked not having a band aid. I bled thru 3 stages, blood on gun and all.
  12. Good thing I got a couple of ISMI recoil springs (10, 12.5, 14) and a wolff sampler pack of mainsprings to fiddle with.
  13. Well I cleaned and oiled the gun and it ran 100% in a match last Sunday. I'm a bit hesistant to polish the guide rod because I really like the tight fit, but I'll see, at some point it will probably be polished. Some people will leave it alone at that point, and that's what I said at first. Of course a day later I'm again tinkering with it. I put in a 17lb hammer spring and 12.5lb recoil spring to test out this coming weekend. The factory springs are probably due for a replacement anyway, and I've been itching to try the lighter springs after reading about them on the forum.

    Help

I checked the date, and it ain't April 1st! That's terrible news. I would much rather see them raise prices to fall in line with the rest (they're cheaper than precision). I've used masterblasters extensively and it is a fine product in my guns.
  15. Good point. I just used gun scrubber and then some remoil on the internals for a light lube. The slide contacts I used militec. I will use my canned air on the internals and then run an old white tshirt through it.
  16. Ha, ok, I have to admit, I haven't loaded a single round of .38sc yet. I'm still waiting for my open gun to be built and gathering all the necessities in the meantime. These are just 2 rounds I found on the range. Interesting how it wasn't loaded properly though. I wonder if it will fail to chamber as the case gage clearly rejected it. I initially thought maybe .38sc cases do have a taper on them like 9mm.
  17. I hope they are not in the process of raising prices...
  18. I bought an L.E. Wilson .38 Super Auto case gage and it doesn't seem to fit .38 Super Comp rounds. I thought the 2 calibers are supposed to be the same except for the rim... but I just now discovered that the super comp case bulges out near the base to 0.388 while the super case stays consistent at 0.380. Weird. Where do I get a .38 super comp case gage?
  19. Ok, just to update everyone on my problem, if anyone cares. I tried pretty much everything, examined every part, felt all the contacts, and still nothing. I installed a new sear spring (Ed Brown) after my old one broke. Funny thing w/ new sear springs - they don't have bevels in the middle leaf. No worries, it still works, and that turned out not to be the main problem, so I just let it be for now. I think I finally figured out the problem. It's the stupidest thing... I feel like a complete moron for sayiing this, but the problem was because my guide rod and barrel were grinding against the guide rod plug and bushing, respectively... because I didn't oil them. After detail stripping everything I just hate to put back dirty things so I wiped everything thing and I thought I oiled everything... and I was so sure it was the disconnector that I had tunnel vision and solely focused on that. After some oil, the slide is like butter. For now. I'm sure the problem will come back in another form. I just hope I get through the match this sunday. Already missed one last week.
  20. http://sviguns.com/photo_gallery/67.jpg It's the ball cut that curves the intersection between the side and top of the slide inward.
  21. Well, I'm pretty sure there's a bevel in it, or the pistol wouldn't have worked the first 5000 rounds. But do sear springs ever get out of tune in terms of tension?
  22. Funny thing happened the other day… the problem came back. Darn it. Darn it to heck. I took the slide off to clean the gun, and when I put it back together, the first thing I checked was the slide action, and sure enough it was sticking. I took the slide off and put it back. Same thing. I diassembled frame completely and put it back, lightly oiling the parts, and the problem got WORSE! The slide sticking was so bad that it would not go into battery now w/o me pushing lightly forward on the slide. Hrmm… so I diassembled it yet again, and the slide became so bad I have to forceably push the slide into battery after racking it back. I was afraid it wouldn't close! So what did I do? I diassembled it again to check for burrs, etc., and this time, when I put it back, something was wrong. The hammer would not drop. Turns out the the sear spring base hook popped loose off the frame, and when I was pounding the mainspring housing in, I flattened the hook and broke it off. After muttering some obscenities, I ordered some disconnectors and springs (recoil, main, sear) from Midway. I'll see what happens. I now think the problem is that the middle leaf of the sear spring was out of tune and pushing too hard on the disconnector, causing excessive drag on the slide. (When I put the empty slide on the empty frame, it goes back and forth smoothly.)
  23. what is the current wait time for a MC gun? I think he quoted me 3 months for new production. Mine gun was actually made already, he just had to change a whole bunch of stuff to suit my fancy. His CNC engraver source left so my gun might have a blank slide w/ no MC logo, as I'm not sure if I want the currently offered laser engraving. My wait applies to the stupid NYC approval process for each additional gun. It usually takes 3 months but has now gotten better, according to August.
  24. Sigh, it'll be months before I see my MC limited blaster...
