  1. Its not bad looking on the outside. What does it look like inside? Can you see a lot of tool marks?

Honestly they are two different guns, built by the same maker. Similar in some ways, but others they are vastly different. For one, My Glock 35 has had just about every part replaced with competition items, Vanek trigger, Dawson magwell, Arredondo extended magazine bases, Warren Sights, Wolf Barrel, Novak Tungsten guide rod, lighter springs, Jager lightened striker and JP magazine release. I also stippled the grip. My Glock 23 is bone stock, with the exception of the Night sights, Wolf barrel, R. Sotelo trigger and Agrip. The Glock 23 seems to kick a bit more with the same loads, but it is manageable with proper stance and grip. I prefer to carry the 23. And I like the it is mostly stock, which allows me to shoot SSP with it. I am new to IDPA, so learning as I go.

I shoot IDPA with a Glock 23 in SSP division, and shoot a Glock 35 in Limited USPSA (If I shoot it, it's been many years). I am also shooting the Glock 35 in a local Zombie (Fun) match several times a month. In IDPA I prefer to shoot what I use for CCW, not game it and shoot something I bought just to compete.
  4. I did not press check my round. And I let it fly forward when loading.
  5. I have a Vanek Custom Super trigger kit that I bought about a month ago. I initially had some issues with it resetting. Off and on it has displayed these issues, and it happens either cycling the action by hand (lightly) or when firing. After firing about 10 rounds, it seems to disappear, until the next match or firing. Tonight it happened during a match. I know Mr. Vanek will take care of the issue, and I am not bad mouthing his product. I have talked to him on the phone previously and he asked me to send it in. So I will do so, and let him evaluate the trigger and see if he can figure it out. I was using his supplied striker spring and cups, along with the trigger system and a Jager lightened striker. Any ideas on what might be causing this?
  6. If you have stippled the grip, it bumps you into Limited in USPSA I think. Which is really not a big deal, since you plan to get another gun. You probably won't even get classified before the new purchase. You will need a new holster, and start reading the rule book on Production guns, so you know what to buy, and where to not spend your money. Ask around, there is probably a shooter at your club with a spare Glock wanting to sell it.
  7. Just shoot your modded Glock in IDPA/Esp. If you shoot USPSA, Limited or Lim/10.
  8. So today I drove an hour to a Fun Shoot. Got there, paid the shooting fee, then went back to my truck to get my gear situated. I then realized I left both my guns at the house. Thankfully I found a shooter who had a Glock 17 I could borrow, and I actually shot better with his gun than I do with either of my personal Glocks. I know others have done this as well. So to make sure it doesn't happen to me again, I will be shopping for a new IDPA pistol, and keeping my Glock 23 for defensive purposes.
  9. Shooting Winchester White box 180's in a Glock 23 for IDPA.
  10. Gotcha. I don't know much about power factors, or how they compare to factory ammo. I do think there are loads out there that will produce a lot less recoil than what I have been shooting. I just need to find a suitable load for me.
  11. Duane, are you saying that there is not one person loading light for local matches or qualifiers? I shoot factory ammo in SSP myself currently, I'm not a re-loader. I am having someone reload some rounds for me so I can try them out just above the minimum power floor. I want to see what difference it makes in my shooting.
  12. The goal in IDPA should be based on what you would carry in a defensive role (according to the rule book). Having said that, I am sure there are many a shooter in IDPA that shoot a very light load.
  13. I was looking just for aesthetics. Will use the original barrel for carry purposes until I can get it coated.
  14. I found a used Wolf Dist. barrel that I will coat in black. Thanks!
  15. Does anyone sell a black coated Glock 23 barrel? I want to shoot lead in my Glock 23 and cannot locate anything.
  16. Have you tried contacting Peltor directly? You might try Radio Shack or a similar online store.

    RTF G34

The Gen4 Glock 35's are out now from what I read. I don't know about Gen 4 Glock 34's though.
  18. I wear a pair of Columbia hiking boots. Not trying to game it, these are my daily wear boots.
  19. I usually carry my Glock 23 (Gen2) in a comptac IWB. This is the same pistol I use in IDPA currently. I have done trigger work and replaced the sights with night sights, but other than that I have kept it completely stock.

    RTF G34

My understanding of the rules is you cannot switch uppers. However; if you wish to game it, how would anyone know? Are the RTF 34's available right now?
  21. Do you plan to replace the barrel and add a comp?
  22. Thanks Duane, I think I will be shooting it as often as I can.
  23. I used mine yesterday in a match, and didn't find any reason to disable the holster retention device. I guess maybe if he practiced drawing from it a couple of hundred times, he would build the muscle memory to use it correctly. Is that too much to ask?
  24. Gotcha, and wouldn't you know, after ordering one online, I found my original!
  25. I have opted to go with the extended magazine release in my Glock 23 for IDPA use. I realize many use this option, and file it down to make the edges less sharp. Am I able to trim it down a bit more if I find it distracting, and still use the pistol in SSP or will that modification put me into ESP? It will be the original Glock 35 piece removed from my Glock 35 (which now sports the JP Enterprises mag release).
