  1. Does anyone know what caused the lug problem? Anyone talk to EAA, to get their take on it. I feel in the dark, and with the amount of money I spent, I think I have the right to know. Who else has sent their open guns back to EAA? Do I need to look for another open gun? Or just wait it out?

I didn't worry about it. I shoot mine. Sending it back to EAA is paramount to throwing it into a black hole.

  2. Long slide is much better than the V12 short slide becuase it shoots flatter.

The V8 model had the longer slide version and that model did not have any problems.

Still waiting for my repair 9months and counting.

The V8 did have that problem. I can show you pictures  . there were just less problem then the V12

and I do prefer to shoot the V8, but the v12 is fun up close.

That's Henning's pistol, yell at him after we did it for him we have been waiting for him to take it out. downside its in 10mm. I think he has a 40 barrel for it now.

Henning when you get a chance could you give me some where too's and how too's. Also if you have 'em, I'd like to see pics. What special conciderations do I need to think about before I start this.

  5. Here's something I've been woondering. Last summer I was taking some coaching from Todd Jerret when he commented that alot of top shooters were looking at 6" barrels for thier pistols. Has anyone considered this? And has anyone tried using the hunter to build such a gun? Where could I get a .40 barrel to replace the 10mm. Any thought you might have.?.

Henning has 2 Hunters at the moment. one has been cut for limited with slide lightening and if i remember right it okay to use. Henning will have to chime in.

  6. Other than the fact that they don't like hollow points, I've never really had a problem with mine. The ones that I've seen that did just needed a little mag/spring tuning (lips parallel at .385-.400 and lots of lift on the front of the top coil of the mag spring)and all was good. We shoot a lot indoors here since winter seems to last forever, and the mag lips tend to spread from getting dropped on the concrete all the time. Other than that; any cases that wouldn't drop into my gage went through the Case Pro and that solved any Glock brass related bulging issues.

Its weird but I never had a problem with a HP on my Limited 40. But none of my Gold teams will run a HP or even a 121 Montana through them. ohh well.

  7. Well, according to Henning's website, he's getting 21 rounds in a USPSA legal large frame magazine and basepad, so "11-16" sounds a little on the low side. Perhaps I should clarify that I'm not talking about a stock factory magazine, but one set up for USPSA Limited (.40s&w) or Open (9x19).

I'm considering trying to find a small frame gun to shoot in either open (9x19) or limited (.40) and wanted to see how much (if anything) I'm giving up in capacity compared to a large frame gun.

you asked about 9mm... 9mm large frame wont run full capacity. I wouldn't get a small frame .40 you cant load long enough for some of the more popular powders. You have to stick to almost factory spec length.

  8. Is there any difference in the max capacity for a 140mm magazine of a small frame gun vs. a large frame gun in 9x19? If so, how much?

How about same questions, but for .40s&w?

I think the small frame is usually one round less. But large frame in 140mm till someone makes it work is only abut 11-16 round :) if you want it to work.

  9. I just checked the web pages of Remington, Winchester, Hornady, Federal, S&B and CorBon. I could not find one load that made USPSA major power factor. Actually none came close. Where does USPSA/IPSC come up with 9mmP making major in factory loads???

My apologies to Atlanta Arms and Ammo. They make .355Super, not 9mm major.

SharonAnne - You won't find any load data from the powder or ammo companies because 9x19 Major is way over even 9x19 +P pressures. The only exception I'm aware of is Winchester 127 grain +P+, and that takes a long barrel to barely make Major, and "+P+" means only that it's above the industry standard for +P...it doesn't say by how much. Factory 9x19 +P loads run in the 140-150 PF range from my CZ-75Bs and Beretta 92.

9x21 loads will get you close.

  10. Hey

Tungsten Guide rods are available from an Italian after market manufacturer. I've been asked if I want to sell them in my store. They're quite expensive so I'm putting the feeler out there before ordering them to be shipped in.

With the current Euro/USD exchange rate the price will be $150. If I decide to bring them in, I'll be taking special orders with delivery within 1-2months?

The factory steel guide rod weights 0.9 oz (approx 25 grams).

The tungsten guide rod weights 2.4oz (approx 67 grams).

The two model guns I see it being useful for is the Match and the Limited models. For anyone shooting the match 40 in major ipsc matches I think it will be a very valuable weight gain in particular and bridge the gap more to the Limited. I'd be very interested in using it in my Limited 40 and see what it does.

It's an expensive upgrade and I would like to get some input before I move forward on it. If they are imported, would you buy one? I've enclosed a picture. If you're firm on getting one, please email me directly so that I can start taking pre-orders / special orders. I'll need at least 10 pre-orders before moving forward.

    btw. good to be back.

    ;-)

Only if you will come install it

  11. Mike took me on a trip today at lunch for a secret adventure. He said Christmas came early. We pulled up in front of the bookstore and he handed me a book. Do the Right Thing by Mike Huckabee. That wasn't the end. He took me inside to get it signed by the Fox News TV Show Host. It was something I would have never done on my own and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I shook his hand, said "Glad to meet you Governor", he said "Kentucky Wildcat Blue?" , making reference to my blue shirt. I said "yes sir", we smiled. That was all, as I was shuffled on down the way by his staff.

I like Mike, he is a funny guy he does some great interviews...

Lucky you, I hope he heads my way for a signing.

  12. usually if the trigger is not resetting..the trigger bar is not coming forward far enough to pick up the sear..this can happen for a couple of reasons.

pretravel adjustment, some obstruction or friction that obstructs movement of the trigger, something obstructing the sear/trigger bar

dont forget weak springs, I had a problem with weak sear spring. but that was on a gun with a lot of rounds through it.

most of the stock setups can be made pretty nice on all these pistols with a little work.. 13lb hammer spring, clean up the sear and polish some parts.. I usually do a bill drill or two and that tells me if i am trigger freezing :)
