  1. I'll give that a try, thanks. I also ordered one of Henning's 10.75lb springs too. Once I'm ready for it I'll go straight there and forget the 10lb one.

Do you chamber check your ammo? If not, you need to do it. Yes, one case out of 200 may have a bulged base that does not allow it to fully chamber. The question is when you clear the jam can you take that same round and get it to feed the next time? If it is difficult to reopen the gun which you noted then it is most likely a bulged case(s). I use a U-die and still chamber check EVERY round if I will be shooting it in a match or if it is more than just backyard practice drills. Good luck

I have noticed more on my open then limited but the gun prefers lube on lockup with the 10lb springs and if the gun gets dry it doesn't hit battery always.. Slide glide usually keep the gun running very well.

  2. Wow, bunch of views but no comments........... Is this modification job that bad???

I have used this holster at two matches and two practice days and it works great. I am very plaeased with how it works and feels. Its way more comforable than the Ghost Holster and more secure too.

Good Job. Just probably a lot of ghost fans.. The only thing I dont like with the ghost are lay down starts or sitting. But never had a problem.

  3. I just picked up the X-Long Ultra Light Firing Pin for Large Frame / Single Action. It's the same design as the previous XL Firing pin, but it's 3 oz lighter. This was accomplished by drilling a 1/16" hole 1/2" deep through the back of the firing pin. Besides being lighter it looks pretty f... cool.

Also have the 10.75# recoil spring available online.

Other things in the works that is not available yet, but will be soon:

    1) 416 Stainless Sear Pin with an OD of 3.05mm to keep the sear rotating tightly on the sear assembly. Ensures a more consistent trigger pull

    2) 303 Stainless Low Profile Torx Grip Screws. Custom designed and manufactured for aluminum grips. Works with all grips.

    3) 416 Stainless Hammer Pin for Limited, Gold Team, Stock II. Oversized, hardened pin to keep the hammer rotating tightly. Ensures a more consistent trigger pull.

    4) 416 Stainless Hammer Pin Pin. Better quality hammer pin pin. I'm just tired of using low quality factory pins in my guns...

    5) Adjustable, Straight Single Action Trigger. We're doing the prototyping right now and I promise the new trigger will have some really, really cool features... ;-)

    6) Adjustable Rear sights for Limited and Match. Drawn and in the works. Just waiting on machining time.

    7) Aftermarket bull barrels.

Several other parts in the works that'll be available throughout the year...

    ;-)

Love the new firing pin! been testing it in my limited with zero problems.

  4. the V12 works fine. :) at one point it will just break. I prefer the V8 anyways..

there should be a lot of posts about what runs in it. I bet your problem was your ran hollowpoints

If you had ejection problems, your ejector may not be tuned for supercomp or it may have a weak spring.

  5. Yeah... I've noticed that when I have a Tangfolio in my safe I have to keep them in those gallon freezer bags cause they just get dirt everywhere. They are almost like Pigpen from Charlie Brown.. just a little dirtball...

Seriously I know a few shooters who put a ton of rounds down range with those pistols and never noticed any issues what so ever with buildup. Pick a good quality powder and go shoot. Clean it when you start feeling REAL guilty,

Yeah N320 and Clays are pretty damn clean. I never noticed too much dirt even shooting Moly...

  6. A buddy of mine brought his down last night and we pulled the extractor and cleaned it. after cleaning it, it did tighten it up a lot but it still seems like its not tuned very well.. it reminded me of how lose my 38 super extractor in my witness was till i tuned it for super comp..

  7. I would like to check one out. but honestly it would be pretty hard to beat the balance of a gold team V8 with the front dust cover shortened or the weight of a slide lightened limited... Last time I saw you doing reloads you didn't have any problems with the size of the magwell, but its been a while since you shot, a bigger one may be your speed now.

  8. I have a Super 1050 setup for super comp. I have at least 5k rounds through it and on and off I am getting a problem with the primer shuttle getting sticky. it snaps back pretty quickly. I have taken the press apart and cleaned it up. Even polished the shuttle a little to make sure it didnt have any rough spots. My guess is that powder and getting around it and its making it bind up a little. anyone else have a problem like this?

  9. I don't recall seeing a problem on my V8, but it's getting a new barrel/comp fitted by Rich anyway. It should be back tomorrow, just in time for the snow this weekend <_< .

Will these new slide/barrel/comp arrangements from Tanfoglio need to be fitted by a gunsmith or will they be just drop in parts ? Just curious...

you need yours back for the RM300 too :)

  10. thats nice to hear. what about for older V8's that have the same problem? will they be fixing those?

Oh fine, now that there is a fix it is a problem for you..... :roflol:

Hey ill shoot till it dies before letting it sit on someone shelves waiting for parts. I am not too worried I have a backup V8 and a bad lockup V12 :) and another one I had Rich put a comp on...now I just need more time to shoot laugh

  11. Frame length:

I experimented on full dustcover, half and short dustcover extensively in 2003. In my opinion the Gold Team was a lot more comfortable with the short dustcover for 38 super open gun. The dot settled quicker more consistent. I will never shoot a long dustcover open gun again based on my personal interpretation of testing back and forth on this.

It's my opinion and if you like the long dustcover (which many do), then don't worry about it. It's not a huge, easy difference to quickly say one is better than the other. I thought half-length would be the shit, but had to accept that I shot better and liked the gun better after I cut it back to short again. Long dustcover (back then) was supposed to be the latest and greatest. All open guns was initially supplied as short dustcover models. Then somebody (I think Johan Hansen in Sweden) loved the long dustcovers and the factory jumped on it.

My main, favorite open gun (frame) is from 1998 and I still use it. It's been upgraded to the V8 porting, but with opened ports in the 3 port comp. Right now it's over at Rich to install an aftermarket barrel and put a titanium comp on it. I want the comp lighter and a tighter chamber so that brass doesn't get so beat up.

    NEWS - NEWS - NEWS

Just got an email from the factory and here is what they say:

"We have completed our tests and we are producing barrels, comp and slides for delivering them to all our Distributors that have recently sold the Gold Custom Eric. We need a couple of weeks more because we have just receive the barrels while the comps will arrive at the end of next week."

Which model and configuration I don't know... but hey.. you're getting something new.

I'm crossing my fingers for long slides so we can retire the whole short-slide idea. Which also means my long slide aftermarket barrels will be a possibility for all new open Tanfo guns. Otherwise I'll have to make a short bull barrel and I really, really don't want to do that. If I'd loved the shorty's I would have felt different about it. To me, they are a little too snappy. But.. great for steel. I do have a small frame Gold Eric 9mm V12.. he he he he he. And it'll be my steel gun.

thats nice to hear. what about for older V8's that have the same problem? will they be fixing those?
