  1. I purchased some Dardas cast bullets in 9mm 124 gr. (picture attached). I have to load them down to an OAL of 1.05 in order for them to feed and not get jammed up in the barrel. Does this

OAL sound to short. I have not shot them yet because I was a little nervous about the pressure. If I make the OAL any longer the bullet will get stuck in the barrel. It seems like the barrel grooves start much sooner than I expected. Anyone else experienced this? If I need to explain anymore let me know.

    Thanks,

    Robert

If you are worried about pressure, start low on charge and chrono and work your way up. I used to run some 125JHP Zeroes with 4.1 of N320 same length with no problems.

  2. Does anyone know where I can get the rear spacer mags for the 9mm witness? My brand new handgun is a jam O matic thanks to the poorly engineered front spacer mag it came with. Any info on where I could get some working mags would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Usually the factory mags work fine with any round nose ammo, by working fine I mean they will hold around 15-18 and work. They tend to have problems with hollow points or hap style bullets.

  3. I don't think there is anyone with one who has confirmed they have fixed the timing issues, the issues were not just with the V12 but also with some V8. You are supposed to be able to tell the improved V12's by the comp being profiled thinner on the sides to change its weight and help with timing. Honestly its probably a crap shoot.

  4. Winchester has always been my #1 choice as I've never had problems with them. Last years when supplies have been sparse I've stepped in the Wolf shit pile..

    Limited 40... winchester small pistol

    Open 38... winchester small rifle

In my Tikka 308 hunting rifle I shot Wolf large rifle because that's all I could get at the time and had no problems, but with my open gun their small rifle didn't work.

I have zero luck with small rifle wolfs in my open pistol and large rifle in my 260 have problems too.

  5. I love my SJC open Glock, but I hate that the optic mount makes me feel like I have to aim down and to the left to see the dot. I have no natural point of aim, I have to search for my dot every time I draw or move from one position to the other. I ended up making some shims to go under the front of the C-More which helped a lot, but it looks like crap.

Anyone else having similar issues? I've tried both versions of their mount, the old style and the new style. (old being centered on the mount, new being slightly offset to the left to help ejection)

I have a SJC Micro Dot Mount for a STS.. after a little dry firing everything worked out great and I love how low it sits and no ejection problems.

  6. Sorry guys, Looks like the round gets into the chamber and the extractor never "grabs it. I can rack the slide and the round is still in the chamber. It happened about 5 times out of 60 rounds. Should I try the old spring?

Try the factory spring and see what happens. It could be just a little to tight adjusted like Hennings article says. Not all the frames are exactly to spec.

  7. Can you give us a better description of what you mean by "Some rounds are not being picked up by the extractor". Do you mean that the rounds are not getting chambered because the base of the case is getting hung up on the extractor? Or that the spent case is being left in the chamber after firing the shot?

Yeah we need a little more info. If it was tuned too close and the extra power was put in there is a chance its too tight. Henning sells his own extractor spring its right between factory and extra power.

  8. I run anywhere from 7.4 to 7.7 depending on the batch of 7625.. I shot about 3000+ rounds of N350 through it and then tried 7625 again and found it was a way more comfortable load to shoot to me. The dot dropped back to exactly the same every shot, the recoil impulse felt much better, not so harsh.. this was in a V8. I also ran the same load in the V12 and I preferred 7625 in it also.

For me 7625 is very easy to get and of all the powders I have tried it felt the best to me... I am sure there are powders that produce way more gas volume, but I think there are many more factors then just gas that make a gun flat. There is also a lot of personal preference on how you like your recoil impulse.

  9. If you like automatic watches, take a look at the Seiko Monster. Built like a tank, water resistant down to 200m, awesome lume and well within your price range. It's been described as the AK47 of watches. A quick search on the web will turn up a lot info on this great watch.

I gave my buddy a Orange Monster for a gift and he was able to break it. He dropped it from the 2nd floor of his house onto a wood floor. :) Cant go wrong with a Seiko though... I have a fondness for Seiko 5 line too.

  10. Looked at them but never gotten one, they are supposed to be decent watches...

for everyday work watch I like Casio Pathfinders that are solar, they are tough and go forever. I had a triple sensor I wore for about 5 years and finally gave it to a friend as a hiking watch and I now wear a titanium one that's very comfortable.

  11. I have a Gold Custom 38 Super with an 2000 Eric V8 top end added last month to replace the standard barrel and compensator setup. It shoots great, but the recoil feels quite different. It feels like the slide is hitting the frame harder, even though I have a 12lb spring in the gun and it felt fine before the top end was changed. There seems to be a bit more dot bounce on recoil, even though there is a lot more compensator effect. The load is 7.8gns of Power Pistol, up from 7.4gns with the old top end and fewer holes. Not a lot of options to change powder, so Power Pistol is it for the moment.

The next step seems to be to experiment with spring weights and see how that makes the gun feel. Maybe it is over-sprung / under-sprung.

What spring weights are people using with the V8 Eric? Does the Sprinco make a difference to recoil management?

I have run 10lbs and now run Hennings 10.75 with no problem. Thats with IMR7625 and 125gr Zeros making about 171pf. I dont have any experience with power pistol but when I ran N350 I also used a 10lb.

  12. I think I am ready to lay out the big money for Aluminum Grips but... I'm a little concerned. I tried to use the email contact on their site but it leads to a 404 page. So I have been trying to call for the last two days but no answer.I left a message today. Just not comfortable with putting down my credit card number on a form without knowing they are still in business.

    So .. are they?

    Alex

me@henningshootsguns.com is always good to get a hold of him, he checks it a lot and is always good about getting back to people. He gets a lot of email though so it can take a bit to get through it.

You wont regret getting the grips.

  13. You would probably be better off with contacting Henning directly to have him take some pictures of them for you. I think the Anodized grips would be more resistant to wear than the bear coat ones. My experience with the bear coat is that its not as tuff as anodizing. But I think you can get some pretty unique colors with the bear coat. If you want the absolute best grip friction then go with the smooth grip panels and put grip tape on them. The grip tape sticks to the smooth grip panels better than the checkered ones.

This is another one of those fashion verses function things. You can get really cool looking grip panels but they will never work as good as a smooth grip panel with grip tape on it. Pick your poison, fashion over function or function over fashion.

Cha-Lee is right the grip tape on smooth panels is very hard to beat. I do think Hennings single pass grips get you pretty close though.

10 lb Wolf spring if memory serves. The lightest spring Tanfoglio shipped their guns with was the only one that wouldn't nose dive the gun, and I ordered Wolf springs as replacements. But I don't think the spring weight really matters. It would be more about spring length and compression I would think. On the other hand, there may be nothing that can be done about this other than replace the part when it breaks, or perhaps have them annealed before installing.

I guess I am lucky, I have yet to break one. I also run 10lb wolfs but lately I have been running Hennings 10.75. Its a easy enough of part to make with a lathe at least.

  15. I'm running a 12# spring. What I can't figure out is what was hitting it. The bushing is not impact bearing (during slide motion). It only holds the spring and lets the guide rod slide through...

I had the exact same thing happen. Couldn't figure out what was hitting because nothing was.

By process of elimination, I'd say spring expansion as it compresses loads the bushing. The bushing (like most of the Tanfo parts) is hardened and brittle and eventually just failed. Mine broke into several small bits and locked things up very nicely.

Nice deduction. that probably it. when you broke yours what weight recoil spring were you running?

  16. I have a Ghost and have used one since I started shooting and I love it... one holster for limited and open its hard to beat, I have never had any problems with retention on any sort of stage. I have also never had a problem with it jabbing my thigh. I haven't tried a SpeedSec but I know Henning likes them a lot and that goes a long way with me. If my Ghost ever fails Ill probably try one.

I do have a Bladetech for my limited but never liked it as much as the ghost.
