  2. Nice pictures, did you not like the aluminum grips? What load are you using?

I need to put up pictures of mine I did some slide lightening and contoured the grips up.

Mine didn't come with Alum. grips.

    zero 180gr JHP

    4.5 grains TightGroup

    I am running the same as Henning - 1.175OAL - 4.6 Clays - Zero 180gr JHP - WINSR.

They are great guns... have you played around with the hammer spring? the 13lb really makes it nice.

  3. worse case you wouldnt have to re-chrome it for a while I ground off my checkering weeks ago without any problems.

Why not the scope mount henning sells I really like mine, they are nice quality... and if you get a slideride you can just switch it to another gun without worrying about the mounting holes.

  4. Henning, Is it common for the safety on the witness to not feel as positive as say a 1911? I have noticed when the safety is on it rubs agaist the sear. This seems to interfere with the detent "clicking" into place. The safety is on but I don't feel it click on or off. Can I remove material from the sear or safety so they don't touch or will this cause the safety to not work? It looks like I may have a few 10/1000 in. to work with. Have you ever tried this?

Have you ever pulled the slide off and checked the safety actuation. I like how smooth mine feels and i can see the detent and the cut out. Mine is not touching the sear from what i can tell.

  5. umm...No? They did not. Maybe I need to start looking now for another avenue in case plan has hit a wall....Thanks for the heads up!

You might want to talk to Henning, he can give you the scoop on parts. I just got my Gold Team back from Ion bonding and am throwing it together and hopefully can give it a try this weekend.

  6. Thanks for the reply. I ordered a longslide from EAA and one of their 6" Match barrels for now. if I find anything better along the way I'm not adverse to changing to the better product. I am trying to build this blaster on a budget. lets see what I end up with and for how much............

Did they tell you it was in stock? EAA sometimes has a problem with getting components. :)

  7. I still have a 99 Series I Discovery, never had a large problem put 90k miles on it. Used it a little offroad, has a detroit on the rear TT on the front. Some of them go forever without a problem, others have one problem after another, quality control has never been great :0 Setup correctly they are very good offroaders, but they will never be a rockcrawler. Aftermarket parts tend to be on the high side of price. A lot of people put Toy axles on them for strength and cheaper to get parts for. The Buick engine they come with imho is trash. aluminum, leaky no matter what you do, underpowered for the size of the vehicle. The trick setup is a TDI or to add one but the cost is insane.

WWW.Discoweb.org has good technical help on Rovers and a lot of good links to parts and documents on repairing them. I really liked mine but the problem was it didnt help me as much as i needed at work so I upgraded to a truck. I also have a 95 Discovery I bought as parts, and a running 78 Series III right hand drive diesel.

  8. I have one of his, the two tone limited on the bottom of the page. Runs perfect have about 3k rounds through it now. Pulled it out of the box and shot it the night I got it, ran flawless. Its super tight and feels like its running on glass. Even loaned it to a friend for a match to spoil him.

  9. Where's the best chance of getting an Elite Gold, and what's the going price?

Henning, are you a FFL now? Can you get them?

Henning should be back from Missoula anytime. I think he got some gold teams in, I am just not sure what calibers.

  10. Thanks Gary. After doing the math, going the way of a Witness Steel to later on buy a long-slide conversion would put me over the price range of an Elite Match, thus not a good deal for me now.

I'm going to tank the idea of the Witness guns for a while. However, if in the future they become available I'd still consider them.

They are the worst at product availability I waited like 4 months for a limited. and like 5 or 6 months for a gold team. :) Henning hooked me up with a nice 40 though. Great guns hard to get sometimes.

  11. another thought is the cz tactical sport has anyone compared the cz ts to the tz limited ?

I have a Elite Limited in 9mm and 40 cal and a TS in 9mm. I have put a lot of rounds through the TS and really love the gun, I have yet to put the limited 9mm to the test and at the moment i am using it for a guinea pig for slide lightening. Off hand I like the TS trigger more stock then the stock elite trigger. The Elite comes with a bull barrel and magwell and fiber front site and adjustible rear, alum grips panels that can be modded a lot to fit your hand.. But all that can be picked up from Angus. Both have nice fit and finish on them

If you havent checked it out go to www.henningshootsguns.com check out what you can do to Elite and then check out www.ghostholster.com for all the CZ info.

Both are great guns, if you are close the KC area you are welcome to shoot them.
