Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I haven’t gotten quote on the upper yet. I’ll post when I get the numbers for entire job.
  2. Tom, I can’t wait to get it back and put some rounds thru it.. it’s a 5” full dust cover gun, and always has been a joy to shoot… it had a bull barrel originally, and I am hoping to go with a sight-tracker island barrel on this 9mm conversion. Dan Bedell built the gun, so it only made sense to send it back to him, and he graciously accepted to work. I’ll keep you all posted on results when it’s back home with me
  3. I’ve had a Bedell custom 40 cal Limited gun for almost 18 years… been the best shooting gun I’ve ever owned… thinkimg I am ready to get a 9mm topend for it… figured I could get a new topend for less than a new hotness 9mm LO gun… will keep you informed once I get it back and get some rounds thru it
  4. I’m taking a drink of this 40 minor coolaid… put a Bomar style plate on my Bedell 40 cal, topped with an SRO, and have been loading 150 gr bb’s at 136-138 pf…. Shoots great, return to zero is good, and is ejecting brass 4 foot away… tomorrow will be first match I’ve shot this pistol in quite some time
  5. I’ve shot the jp5 a couple times, and it’s pretty nice… but shooting it side by side with my gmr-15, built almost same as Brekke Custom’s blowback pcc, there’s not enough difference on hits, function to make me want to sell mine, to get a new jp
  6. Here’s a stick in your spokes… I started using 100gr 380’s for practice in my gmr-15, when 9mm got scarce… now I love them… 4.2 gr, titegroup, loaded to 1.075 oal… coming out 1275-1285fps in 10” barrel… very flat and snappy
  7. Keith, you can get the 5020 to work in carbine tube, but you will have to weld the bottom rib of bolt up, so there’s no ramp anymore… and you will have to check the clearance between hammer face and bottom of bolt afterwards, may be too tight, and you’ll have to take a few thousandths off bottom rail (welded surface).., you will need to radius the new edge that drives hammer down. it is the fastest reset you can get out of a pcc… but it does hit a bit firm, and you will see it in dot movement
  8. After some extensive range time and testing, the springco Orange ar10 spring is giving best result of smallest groups. Still using A5 tube, 5020 hydro buffer, and no weight in bolt… testing was done at 20 yards, using JP polished ar10 spring, Tubbs flat wire, Springco, and also had the 5015HD w spacer also in mix… this best combo produced 1.5-2” groups of doubles, as fast as I could put 2 shots at target
  9. I started out with Vortex UH, but had issues due to my astigmatism… got 510c Holosuns on both rifles now, and like the clear dot and big window
  10. Who’s bullets are you guys using for 135gr? shooting out of 5-5.4” barrels? how is the accuracy? Compared to 180gr
  11. I have run the 5020 in a carbine tube, but had to modify the reset rib on bottom of the bolt to set the trigger with such a shortened stroke… in the end, I felt like I was getting too much ‘thump’ from buffer bottoming out so soon in carbine tube, and upsetting my dot too much, so switched to A5
  12. Very interesting info, WxGuy… I’ve been using a JP Ar10 spring with my KYNSHOT 5015 and 5020, but feel like the stiff spring causes extra movement when bolt closes… I’m going to try the Sprinco and the Tubbs, and compare some notes
