    Area-4

41 and Hop, I hope to meet you guys as well as all the revo shooters at area 4 and put some faces with the emails I've been reading. My brother Bill and I will be shooting Friday evening and Saturday morning in squad 19. Heck, we'll make everybody look good!
  2. Hey Jon, you should come up and shoot the Mississippi Classic May19-20. There's going to be 10 great stages. Talk to Lloyd L., Robert C. or Jim D. they will fill you in on the match. Haras, I'm sore tempted between the revolver freiendliness of the local 6 stage ICORE match to be held May 19th and the legendary hospitality of the Mississippi club at the Classic on the 19th and 20th. What a no lose situation!
  3. 4 out of 119 so far is still 400% of last year's A-4 revolver entrants. (how's that for cheerleading?) I'm pretty much a newbie and have shot only on the Louisiana bayous so far. It ought to be fun to shoot as far north as the Clark Range in Princeton.
  4. I experienced a problem at a local USPSA match Sunday that I hope someone can help me with. My revolver is a S&W 625-8 purchased new and only about a year old. When doing a reload during an early stage, I held the revolver in my left hand and depressed the ejector rod and found the moonclip and empty cases stuck, I pressed a little harder with my thumb and still nothing happened. When I pressed really hard with my left thumb, the cylinder climbed over the frame lug until the ejector was flush with the front of the yoke. I turned to the R.O. with what I am sure was a very confused look and expected him to tell me to stop. Instead he told me to push it back in. Well much to my surprise, it snapped back into place when I pushed it forward, the shells and moonclip ejected on the next attempt and the revolver functioned just fine (well better than me) for the rest of the match. I tried after the match to pull the cylinder over the lug with moderate pressure and was fortunately unsuccessful. My concern is what the H#%% happened and what should I do about it? Attached is a close-up photo of the lug with a burnish mark from the cylinder climbing over it.

  7. I've heard a lot abput peened cylinder notches. What exactly is a peened cylinder stop, how does it happen, how does it affect my gun's functioning and lastly anybody have pictures of peening? thanx
  8. That's an easy enough goal, call S&W and ask when he'll be in your area. He does a dealer tour, travels around the country and spends a day at local S&W dealer's showrooms. He's a nice guy to talk to, he can chat about BBQ, duck hunting, 350 small blocks and not lose a step. Oh, and 90% of the shooting speed comes from a strong rebound spring. You can't pull the trigger fast if the reset speed is slow. I am a relative newbie to shooting and had the extreme honor/pleasure of shooting in the same squad as Mr. Miculek in June at a local match in Thibodaux LA. He shoots just like everybody else except a lot faster and more accurately. I, my brother and a friend are going up to Princeton to have a weekend long lesson with him the first weekend in January. Anybody have any pointers on how to get the most out of the experience?
